Interview with: SANE AND JAY ONE OF THE LUNATICS -------------------------------- 1. Hello Fellas! Please introduce yourself to our readers (age, other hobbies, what's your function in the group etc..) -Sane: My name is Pieter and my pseudo is Sane, I am 16 years old and my hobbies are: Tai-kwon-do, frisbee (ultimate and guts), watching a good movie, watching the big American sports like: Baseball and Icehockey. Of course the Amiga is one of my biggest hobbies and I like swapping best. My function in the group is mainly swapping and organising the Dutch division of The Lunatics but I am also an editor of our mag and I hope to be a pack-maker (together with Jay One) when our new menu-system is ready. -Jay One: My real name is Yorick (pretty weird name, isn't it?) and my handle is Jay One! I'm 17 years old and a few of my hobbies are: Soccer, Computing, Tennis and watching the TV (and movies). My function?? Well I do a little swapping and the gfx for our Dutch division (also for the other ones). Oh! and of course I am (together with Sane) the organiser of LNTS (Holland) and editor of our maggy. I also have started with 68000 programming, but at the moment I'm just a beginner! 2. Lunatics have quite a lot of members worldwide. Isn't it hard to organize such a big group with several divisions? -Sane: We have a lot of members (about 28) but we only have 2 divisions at the moment. Today (17-3-92) we more or less kicked the Danish members because they were a bit too lazy, unloyal and they were below the average of the rest of our members. Luckily they didn't care (but who does these days?) so there isn't something like a war, we are still friends (???) We like to increase the ammount of divisions, so when some reader likes to start a division in his/her country let him contact me. ++(0)2280-14126 Because a lot of Norwegians read this magazine -->> We really like to start a good Norwegian division.. Are you good enough? Call me!! I think it is not so difficult to organise the crew, only the calls are very expensive and we have to discuss everthing in letters. But we will meet each other on some partys so there is no real problem. -Jay One: My job as organizer is not as hard as Sane's because he is the one who is in contact with the other divisions! So for me there are no expensive calls, stamps etc. to pay for. (hehe!) 3. What kind of equipment do you use, and how many hours a day do you spend in front of your beloved Amigas? Sane: I only have an Amiga 500 (+1mb of course) and a 1084s monitor, no more, no less! I also connected my stereo (double deck, cd-player, tuner and pick-up) to my Amiga so the sound of my computer is much better cause you hear the music trough 2-way 2*80 watt boxes! I have a lot of homework to do, so I only spend about 2 hours a day in front of my Amiga. I spend about 1 hour a day writing long letters to contacts (hi El loco and Leebold!) Jay One: I got an Amiga 500 (1mb), an external drive (Cumana), an internal drive (isn't that amazing?!), three joysticks, a color- printer and ofcoz a mouse. I also connected my amiga to my stereo cause it's a much better sound if you hear it from 2 directions. I don't know how many hours a day I am sitting in front of my compy, but I think it are at least 2,5 hours!! (especially if I am working on some gfx). I also spend a lot of my time on the amiga if I'm writing some letters to any of my contacts. I always have a lack of inspiration so those letters can take me hours to finish!! 4. What is your opinion about the scene? (Is it o.k, or pure shit? Please explain your answers) Sane: I think it's o.k, there are a lot of very cool guys in the scene! And now I talk about cool guys, let's give the greets (in jump to mind order...) El loco/paragon, Error/TSB, Leebold/?, Senator/ Slipstream, Bushbaby/Damage inc., Saracen/Visual bytes, Ildatch/ Rich, D Icelord/ Catastrophy, MC Green/ Live act, Raw/Amaze, Wolfman/RAF, Art/Awake Telekinetic/The Flame Arrows, Triax/ Disknet, TSM, Joe, The Cube, Dragon Bait/ Lunatics, Dr. Poison/?, Duff/? (Incomplete as always, sorry) There are also a lot of cool and productive groups in the scene but I think some groups are becomming to BIG and ELITE. I also hate all the small, bad, unproductive groups... FUCK THEM!! (Friendship rulez) Jay One: Since I'm not that long in the scene I can't tell you if the scene is better than in the earlier days, but I have read a lot of articles that say that the scene nowadays is less friendly then in the past!! I don't know if that is true, because all of my contacts are very nice dudes! I do know that in the past few years there were many wars between groups, but at the moment I think that the scene slowly becomes more and more friendly again!! (at least I hope...) Always remember: FRIENDSHIP RULEZ THE SCENE!! 5. What is your opinion about stamp- faking and blue-boxing? Sane: I did it myself a while ago, but now I think it's not right to do it!! Because when the postman discovers the faked stamps you sometimes loose the letter + disks, the person who is waiting for the disks gets angry because he thinks the sender is lazy and the person who sent the disks is angry too, because the other persons doesn't return his disks! (I hope it is not too difficult to understand this stupid answer ??!!) You get quarrels for nothing. Jay One: I don't have that much experience with stampfaking or blueboxing cause I never did it! If you want to learn some ways to fake your stamps then don't hesitate and write to Sane cause he is a real expert in that kind of stuff!! (just kidding mate!!) Anyway, if you want to send me sumthing then don't fake your stamps because of the reasons Sane told ya before. 6. What is Lunatics biggest project for the moment? Sane: We are currently busy with a trackmo called "Mental Orgasm" I think that is the biggest project, but also a multipart demo, a diskmag,a packserie and a musicdisk are big projects. Unfortunately The Lunatics have only 5 coders so it is hard working for those guys. My compliments: Raise, Duff, Sprinter, Sponge head and Polaris!! Not only the visible projects are big but also "the search" for coders, divisions worldwide and a bbs are big projects of me, Jay One and TSM. Jay One : Do I also have to answer this question?? Sane (again): No, of course you don't have to answer this question you stupid pig (heheheheh) Everyone knows I am the ultimate leader !! (hehehe) Just kiding Joyrick (eh .. sorry : Yorick !! ain't that a wacky name ??) 7. Which country has got the worst scene in your opinion (except from Sweden), and who has got the best? Sane: I can give you an answer like: "Zimbabwe has the worst scene" but I will make my choice between the countries which have a scene. And I choose Holland, Holland only had 5 big demo-groups: Axis, Vision, RAF, Desire and Mirage. Axis only has a few Elite members, so they don't release many productions. Desire lost a lot of members and they are now almost dead. RAF hasn't released anything since the RAF-party last year. And I haven't heard anything of Mirage and Vision in the past few months. Luckily the future looks brighter: A new group called Origin has made a very cool demo recently called "Circle Madness" The Flame Arrows have organised a great party in march 1992 and Catastrophy is becomming cooler and cooler everyday. Also TSL have started a division in Holland (Multicoder/ex-Desire joined them as a coder!!) and we are also becomming better. So I hope the scene in Holland will be the same good scene as a few years ago. I think England has got the best scene, with groups like Anarchy, LSD, Slipstream, Dual Crew, Cytax and lots of others. Also Germany has got a good and big scene. Groups as Awake, Amaze, TSB, LSD, Complex and others make that scene very cool too. Jay One: Phew, finally I can write something again! What are you trying to do Sane? Fill this whole diskmag or something? O.K., you want to know the worst scene there is!! I think that the Mongolian scene is fucking lame! Well, actually I don't really have an opinion about this subject!! But I certainly do not think that the Dutch scene is the worst. Now about the best scene: Since most big groups have got different divisions the scenes are more and more mixed up I think, but I will give you a list of my favourite demo-groups: Phenomena, Anarchy, Silents (also Crionics), Razor 1911 (not many prods, but when they release something it often is very good.), Alcatraz and I liked the first demo from Origin (a new Dutch team) called "Circle Madness". Oh, and not to forget Axis with their cool productions!! Vision is also a good democrew but they are too lazy I think!!! (Are you satisfied enough with this answer?) 8. Who is the most selfish bastard you've ever met? Sane: I never met a real batard who is famous in the scene, (except for Jay One of coz (heheheheh)) The only guy, he is so ugly his own mum hates him. I know and who is really shit is DANIEL A. (his pseudo is Sallow or Hush) He is in the same class as me and he lives a few blocks away from my home, he is also on the same Frisbee-club as me (Discmen) and he plays, just like me, in the national Dutch frisbee team! (wow !!) Jay One: I only know 1 ugly bastard!! (Sorry for so less...) His name is: (guess??) Yep, you're right DANIEL A. Why he is a bastard? I will tell you why!! I also was in the same class as D. but fortunately he went to the VWO and I went to the HAVO!! (I don't know what these forms of schools are called in English) Anyway, he is the most ugliest, dummiest pig I ever met in my whole life!! I don't play frisbee or something so I rarely see him!! (hehehe!!, too bad you play frisbee Sane!!) 9. How many parties have you attended? Sane: Just one!!! (lame eh?) and that was The Flame Arrows party in march 1992. Which was very cool, met a lot of cool guys there. Jay One: You can't believe it but I'm the record holder with 3201 parties on my list!! Okay, okay.. it's not true! I have been at two parties: The Royal Conference '91 and the T.F.A. pardy!! 10.
