THE Interview With 911/MovementOne of the two Worldleaders - Or Worldorganizers as he prefers to call himself, especially done for R.A.W by Astro/Movement :-> Please tell us When,How and Why Movement was formed and what were all those rumours about in many different diskmags about Rebels having kicked all of you because of too many members etc.? The big CLEAR-UP! Hmmm.. The Movement story for all of you who still don't know what happened exactly.. On the party in Denmark, I met the finnish Rebels guys and they seemed kinda funky to me so we had some chats about Rebels. (Meegosh was the worldleader by then! NOT JAKE!!!) Also we met some dudes who said they were rebels, but have never been in any memberlist.. Jake himself didn't show up ofcourse. The fact that Jake took in people we never heard of was the limit for Meegosh, so we made an arrangement to plan a new team with just the nice people who were in Rebels. Toastmaster, who was the only guy we really liked from the danes at the time, told us he would go along with whatever we wanted to do, so we were happy.. Movement itself was formed on the 1st of january 1993 with the following members :> Me, Astro and Liberator in Holland, Meegosh, Jef, Ruben, Nugget and Storm in Funland, Reflex, Hof and Xann in France, Logic and Portwer in Sweden and Toastmasterjohn in Denmark.. So, we LEFT rebels and a few weeks after that Jake kicked us from Rebels, while we weren't there anymore! Strange guy, Jake... Then we were informed that Jake left the scene, but we don't care about Jake so stop the bullshit! I have been in two big groups before Movement, TSL and Rebels, and I both liked these teams, although there is a lot of shit going on in big groups.. Still, I feel happy the way Movement is at the moment, with people who know each other, and all of them are my friends... Let's just say this : I don't make greetings-lists, but if I had to make one, there won't be many people in it who are not in my team! Why Don't you ever want a memberlist to be spread in a production and why was a memberlist released in the fishing-trip invitation afterall ? To protect wars inside the team, caused by wrong news in discmags, I have told all members that I don't spread any news to any discmag. Lately, I had a lot of fun reading the news in some discmags about us, cos most of the news isn't true! hehe.. Also, I don't like to spread a memberlist, because the people in the scene will see them- selves who are the members of my team and who are not.. Okay, in the fishing-trip invite by Toastmaster was a memberlist ( Although it wasn't 100% updated! ) but that was a little organizer's mistake! It doesn't matter to me.. The list is very old, by now... In the last issue of R.A.W there was an article about Hof in which was stated that Movement probably was a too unproductive group for him and that he better could join a better group; What did you think when you read it ? With the last issue of R.A.W, my thoughts were right about them.. The editors really think that they can put a group down with writing weird stuff about them.. To R.A.W : You don't know what the word "FUN" means.. To be in a group with your friends is fun! A group is maybe formed to make productions in the first place, but having a good time with other members and friends is, to me, THE most important thing in the scene! If you really think that Hof works together with us, just because he wants to be the number 1, he would have joined for example Andromeda or whatever.. The editors of R.A.W think that they rule the scene and if they write that a group has to be more productive, the group HAS to be more productive. You really think that a group gives a fuck about what you think ???? Maybe all that positive critics has gone to your heads.. My advice (you don't have to do it!, I don't do what you say either!) to you guys is : Stay with your feet on the ground and write objective articles about what's happening in the scene and let the people who have wars speak for themselves, like f.e. TMB DESIGNS did about The Silents. (He was 100% right and I know it!) <> Probably even more important : Did Hof ever know there was going to be an article about him and ,if yes, was he involved with it ? Hof was asked by Lord Helmet to write a piece about the graphicians who were currently in the Top 10, and so he did. (With the help of some of his friends! ehehehhe... grin...) The article about Hof was partially written by him and the last part was written by Lord Helmet. All the statements about The Silents were true. Also, the statements about Facet were true as well... I don't give a fuck about what Lord Helmet hopes to achieve with his words at the end, really!.. Maybe we should send him a bomb as well ? Reflex doesn't seem to be very populair in france. Why is that and why are you laughing ? Hahah.. Well, let me tell you a little story of how the french scene works.. I have quite a lot of contacts with french people so I guess I know enough about it.. In France, it's usual to tell shit about others and nobody cares about the shit being told about them.. For example : Walt greets Reflex in a Pornos intro and bars his name on screen. I am sure that at a party Walt will just have fun and laugh with Reflex like nothing has happened.. That's the way in France! People can get very mad about something totally stupid, and be friends the day later.. France is a weird country and the french are really strange. The best way is not to pay too much attention to all those wars and just have fun. That's the way the scene must be able to work out just fine.. There's some rumours about Movement being involved with a BIG party in Christmas 1994 in Amsterdam together with Lemon, and some other groups. What's true about this ? Well.. I am not so fond about the ideas behind Lemon., so if this party would really work out the way they say it will be, I wouldn't be too much involved.. But, I know that you (ASTRO!) want to do something like that.. Guess we have to wait and see what happens... Is there a member-limit in Movement ? Nope! If we would have 200 friends who can do quality stuffs for Movement, we would have 200 members.. Groups set member-limits to break them.. If some very talented dude would want to join a group, there suddenly is no memberlimit to be seen! But, if some weirdo who is not qualified to the organizer's minds wants to join, there suddenly is a memberlimit! Hmm.. I guess memberlimits are just a good excuse for organizers for not letting in people they don't want in the group.. It's always easier to tell someone "No, you cannot join, because of the member-limit" than to say to him "No way! You sukk! You're Lame! Goodbye!".... : >.. What do you think about Lemon, ? Is Facet a friend of yours (grin) ? Well, maybe you can all remember the interview I did with Facet a while ago for this magazine ? Well.. I have to tell you that I study journalism on this school in Holland, and the first things we learnt about inter- viewing is that the victim gives the answers and you write the interview.. When I did the interview with Facet, I had my questions ready and he gave the answers.. He told me that he would finish the interview himself and send it to Lord Helmet.. When I read the final version in R.A.W some weeks later, I saw that Facet made up questions himself, pretending that I made them! That was the first thing... Then, The Joker pic for the same R.A.W. I showed him the Lobo picture by Hof, and he found some example from a Batman book in my comic book collection.. He said he wanted to draw it just to try out some new style and he assured that he would NEVER release it. He said that Hof was the first with a picture like this and if Facet would choose to release his Joker picture, he would surely do that AFTER Hof's picture was released... Then I saw the picture in R.A.W... And well.. That sukks... Hof is my friend and Facet isn't (anymore).. I think it proves of pure arrogance that he still doesn't admit his ripping from other graphicians. Mostly, he shows that he is arrogant in a kind of joking way. He often makes jokes like "haha, I am the best! ahha.." but in his heart he really means it, I think.. But, hey! enough of this bullshit talk.. I really want all of you to read my last words in this interview, as they are very important and explain why I am telling all this, okay ? read on : < > What's your opinion about the dutch scene in general ? Hahah! nice question!.. Well well.. A long time ago, when I joined TSL, my opinion about the dutch scene was that it sukked.. All kinds of groups that really thought they ruled and so on.. Mirage, Desire, the old days. Now, I see groups popping up that seem like a lot of fun.. The new desire, Vicious, Jetset... It's great that they want to do something to pull up Holland's bad reputation, but you must know that I am not willing to work on something like that.. For me, my best friends (in the scene!) are foreigners, and I like it the way it is.. I worked with a few coders in Holland, and they were all lazy and very boring.. So, I quit that.. Although it's nice to hear from other dudes in other groups, who call me for anything.. I just have my group of friends with whom I hang out all the time, and it's fun! I am somehow involved in the modem-scene, as well as the demo-scene.. And I must say that most of the modem-guys are far more nicer than any of the demo-guys.. Hellos to the dutch modemscene and all the teams who are not aiming for the no.1 position, but who like to have a lot of fun in their team.. A few issues of Chit-Chat ago we could read something about you being banned out of the Chit-Chit. What happened ? Haha.. You really want to pull all the juicy stories out of me! eheh.. Okay... When I used to hang out with Facet, we were at his house one day writing some news for Shit-Shat.. He and Hein (his friend) made up some news about a dude called Xience and they wrote to chitchat, telling that he was a new coder in Holland, doing a BIG trackmo for Vision. It was a good joke, and if they would place that news it would prove how much they sukked (shit-shat I mean..) Well.. Then I was allowed to write some messages to some dudes I know, and I also wrote a message to this Xience-person (btw: Xience/Melon doesn't have anything to do with this!)about how great his new routines were... Well, the joke kinda fukked up, cos the Mirage dudes didn't fall for it, and they banned me from writing for Chit-Chat.. (So?????) The lame thing is, that they didn't dare to ban Facet, cos they knew that he still had to make the design for the messagebox.. aHWELL.. Chit Chat is just another mess-box.. It's not a bad one to my mind.. I just don't like the people behind it.. That's all. In the last issues I saw messages to me again, so I wonder if they let me in again.. Hmmmmm.... I don't care! I just don't care.... Do you think it's important for a group to have some good Boards and Swappers too ? Why ? Hmmm... Well.... Errmm... It has been proven that a group can do without boards and swappers (Melon!) ... To me, the boards and the swappers are not only for spreading productions, but mainly to give a lot of people an idea of the group.. If a swapper is cool to his contacts, they will get the idea that the team is cool.. Same goes for boards.. If a board runs well, the traders get an idea of the group.. But! it's very important to have the traders (modem+mail) involved in what the group is doing.. They are members, not just machines in which you insert a production and wait for the charts... When is the organisation of a group well-done,in your opinion and what went wrong with the organisation you think in eg. Silents, Rebels or Anarchy ? The organisation in a team is well done, when all members feel happy about the team, encourage each other in doing good stuff and, above all, have a lot of fun.. I don't believe in that division-thing, where every country has a small team (Coder, graphist, musician, swapper, bbs) and work under one and the same team.. Also, it's necessary to keep all members up-to-date with the latest changes, so that no-one feels left out. An example of nice contact in the team is the party-invitation for this year's Assembly Party : code by a finn, gfx by a danish and a french guy, music by a frenchman.. I mean, the mistake Rebels and Silents made is to split up the group in separate teams, and ofcourse taking in too many members.. Though, I have a lot of respect for the leaders of these groups, because, when I was f.e. in TSL, it was always nice to talk to Animal, and also Nick/Rebels really did a lot for his team.. If Nick didn't take over the lead from Jake in Denmark, the group would have died earlier, I think.. < > Do you think Movement has developed its own style ? Why ? Do you think Lemon's style is a cheap rip-off of Melon's ? Hmm.. I don't know about the style... I think that people outside Movement should answer this question.. Maybe we have a french style, with Alex, Nam Reflex, Skynet and so on.. On the other hand we have that crazy john-style type of things Toastmaster (our mascot! ehehe) does.. Everyone who ever met Toastie at a party will know what I am talking about! ehehe.. About Lemon... I don't think their style is a rip-off from Melon's, but their name sure is.. They will probably say it's a joke, but I see it as lack of own ideas.. (See Chapter 8,9 and 10: Facet!) Do you think Rebels is ever going to be active again? And,if yes, will they reach the same quality as some years ago ? If you mean the quality that Jef - Heatbeat - Ruben - Nugget - Meegosh - Dweezil Zakka - Hoover - Conan - Xod - Static gave them, I'd say NO.. Rebels has nothing to offer nowadays. Their reputation has been damaged on the demo-side. But, maybe some crazy guys want to pump up the name and leave their settled team for an uncertain future in Rebels.. Who knows ?.. We'll just wait and see.. My favourite productions are still the intros from the finns at that time.. Have you got anything else to say to our dear readers ? Yes! I do! About the all the "shocking" things I have said in this interview.. I am not the kind of guy who wants wars with everyone in this scene.. Maybe my education made me say things that I could regret lateron, but I don't care.. What I have given here is just -MY- personal way of thinking, and I am certainly not trying to convince everyone that they, for example, will go and hate Facet or anyone else I might have offended.. Also, I challenge anyone to prove me that I am wrong in some things I have said.. But, you gotta know, that I won't make wars if I am not 100% right about the reasons..So, everyone, chill out and make up your mind.. Greetings to all the ones I love and special thanks to all people who made my scene-life as enjoyable as it is (you know who you are!) Message to Meegosh : This wasn't my ideA!! Thank you to Astro, who gave me the chance to speak out! tHANKS bRO! (-911-) signs off.... One more thing.. About question number 12, (the organisation in teams!) I would like to invite Animal to answer an interview made by me and Astro about the organisation and everything that has happened inside The Silents for R.A.W.. I hope you accept our offer, frederik! Wait for the questions, arriving in your mailbox soon!
