   INTERVIEW WITH FLOSOFT/???

This was done by phone by THE MAGE/CYTAX after I've heard that SANITY was
split into two parts that both want to keep the same name. All answers of
Flosoft have been translated into English.

I.C.E: Please tell me your age, nationality and hometown.

F.: I'm a german 18 year old boy and I'm living in Hamburg.

I.C.E: What is your function in the group you're currently in ?

F.: Well, my job is coding demos.

I.C.E: Do you still go to school ?

F.: Yes, after the summer vacation I will enter the 13th class.
(I.C.E: That means he has one year left to pass the final examination)

I.C.E: How have your activities in the scene started ?

F.: After I had bought an Amiga I realized that most of my school-
classmates have got one, too. Together with a few friends we than
built a feeble-minded and lame group to get more software.
I had bought a 'Markt & Technik Assembler Book' to learn programming.

I.C.E: Sum up the equipment your're working with !

  F.: I have an A500, 1MB Expansion, an external drive, C= 1084 Monitor,
    a Star LC-10 Colour Printer, an Action-Replay II, a Golem-Sampler
and a 2400 Baud Modem that I only use for fun.

I.C.E: If you program which assembler do you use ?

F.: I use the Devpac for a long time because the old Sekas were to
slow and now I know the Devpac better than the new Sekas,
    Master-Sekas or ASM_One.

I.C.E: Most of the so called coders in the scene swap the latest
sourcecodes ? What is your opinion about 'sourcecode-swapping' ?

F.: I think the scene will become very lame if most coders don't
understand the routines but only copy them and use them in their
own demos. Especially I do not like it if sourcecodes are sold
for money. I want to understand all routines and I like to solve
programming-problems so I program all routines for myself.

I.C.E: Do you have contact to other coders, e.g. Panther or Chaos who
    are also in Sanity ?

F.: I have a good contact to Mr.Pet/Sanity and we often sit together
and help each other. I also exchange tips and tricks with Chaos
by phone, but I do not have contact to Panther, who programs
    a game at the moment.

  I.C.E: Why don't you program a game either ?

F.: I do not have the patience to finish a game. I have sometimes
considered to start programming a small shoot'em-up game and
send it to a magazine, e.g. Amiga Special !

I.C.E: What productions do you have planned in the future ?

F.: We are working on a new diskdemo that will be dos-compatible.
We have already coded 5-6 new effects and designed some vector
    objects.

  I.C.E: You don't think that vector-graphic is out, am I right ?

F.: Yes, but only complex or light-sourced objects are interesting
    to watch.

I.C.E: It has become harder to program good demos and to develop new
effects. What kind of demos do you expect from other groups
    in the scene ?

F.: Hmm, there are no really new effects. I think new demos will
contain already known effects but faster and better coding.

Cool effects will be combined to create complex demos. For a
good demo it must take some minutes to watch it till the end.
The display must change often to avoid boredom.

I.C.E: Now let's talk about another topic. What do you think about
German 'copy'-parties and how do you like them ? Give me also
a comparison to Scandinavian parties !

F.: I prefer the German parties because it is easier and cheaper to
get there though I often have no possibility to find a place
in a car. It's a pity that only a few cool guys visit the
German parties. The Scandinavian parties are often better but
    hard and expensive to reach.

I.C.E: Now tell me some facts about the feud between the two parts of
        Sanity. What has happened ?

F.: In my opinion most of the Sanity members have been kicked out
without any acceptable reason. It's Panther, Chaos, 16-Beat,
Cruiser, Brainwave, Cthulu, Jester, Vindicator and some more
who represent the pretented real Sanity.
Mr.Pet, Mike D, Zaphod, Ice, The Fog, me and most of the former
Sanity swappers represent the second part. At the moment Chaos
tries to intercede between this two parts.
Some of the arguments of Panther are that the members had to be
kicked out because they do not live in or near Stade.
Vindicator is a Sanity member since one and a half year and hasn't
done anything productive for all the time but he stays in Sanity
because he takes Panther along with his car to school each

        morning.

I.C.E: Is it right that the guys who have been kicked out were the same
who wanted to produce the new D.I.S.C. ?

F.: Yes, I think that Chaos now tries to sell his D.I.S.C.-Code to
another group. (wpm: rumours state that Chaos plans to give it to
        Brainstorm as a new ZINE-code.)

I.C.E: Well, that's it. Thank you for the information and for taking
the time to answer my questions ! Do you have any message
at the end of this interview ?

  F.: Yoh, I'd like to greet Mr.Pet !
