Chris/Gods

by Wade of Eltech

                              W = Wade  C = Chris

 W: Okay then to start this interview please could you tell everyone about
    yourself e.g. Name, Age and any other personal info about yourself.
    Basically anything you want us to know about you.

 C: Well, so my name is CHRiS and my handle is chrIs.... quite original. I'm a
    27 y.o. scener. I studied Accounting during 2 years and it finished by...
    no-exam... I was all the time on my Amiga. I am working since 3 years in
    the french commercial division of a German firm.
{

    Hmmmm, it's quite interesting,... but I think you do not care about it!
    And, the most interesting fact about me is that I am living in the most
    beautiful town, I mean Paris.... but, I must say something about this
    town... it was more fabulous when I was living outside of it and when I was
    visiting a few days every years!!! Paris is great for a tourist but not so
    much for a pariser!

 W: Excuse me for saying this, but I'd say you were a bit older than the
    average scener, how long have you been on the scene and how did you find
    out about the Amiga demo scene?

 C: Older!!! What do you mean ????..... Yes, I'm a little bit older..... I
    joined the Amiga scene when I was 19. So, it's 8 years ago !!!!!!!
    Everything started with Iris and it lasts 7 years and, now, I'm in Gods
    since one year. How I discovered the Amiga scene???

    I was on Amstrad (you know, the English computer!!!!) when a Belgium friend
    of mine told me that he bought an Amiga 1000. I looked at it, played with a
    few games (Goldrunner / Defender of the crown) and decided to buy one, too.

{

    A few weeks later, he presented me a friend of him who was on Bamiga Sector
    ??? (sorry, don't remember the number but not 1!!!) and on Free Network...
    later on, I met a demo crew in France and then we (me and a few other
    dudes) decided to create Iris... Our first demo was in December 87... a 3d
    one!!!

 W: Can you tell the people about any of your previous groups and why you are
    now in Gods?

 C: My only previous group is Iris... and now, Gods... why, after 7 years moved
    to another crew??? I thought and I still think that I did my best with Iris
    and was not able to do more with it... Iris is a certain way to live the
    scene... In Iris, Friendship rules... if somebody, if something is not do
    today, it doesn't worry.... it will be tomorrow... in Iris, we take
    beginners to form them, we give them a chance; a lot of sceners, everywhere
    in Europe, started their Amiga scene career in Iris.

    Gods is something else... Friendship always rules, but a date is a date and
    we always release something when it was expected. We do not take beginners
    now, we have very good members and take only very good members... It's a
    little bit different but we have the same concept.... Friendship.{

 W: From what I can see the France is one of the biggest and best scene
    countries could you tell us a bit about the French scene from your point of
    view and how you`d compare France to other countries?

 C: Yes, at the moment, the french scene is quite active. But, it's not really
    new, a few years before... We were also ruling the scene, just remember
    'Wild Copper' and many more!!! So, the french scene is as many other ones,
    I think. A few good active crews who are making the Amiga scene better and
    lotsa small crews, quite inactive, but who are making as noise as they had
    made the whole scene!!!!

    So, France has some of the best sceners and some of the worst. There is
    another point that I want to notice. The modem scene is in France very
    low.... we have no more than 12 good serious BBS around there and they are
    completely legal because of police actions. Of course, the illegal scene is
    still alive but not as noisy as some years ago! In France, only a few
    sceners own a modem... Well, just to say that we have some of the best as
    some of the worst!!!

                                                                     {

 W: All scene countries appear to have good points in one way or other
    except the UK! I have to ask this question, but what do you think of the
    scene here in the UK?

 C: Uk... I love your Amiga scene... You have some of the best legend in your
    country.... Remember the crews... Share And Enjoy, Free Style (not the
    second one but the first one), Magnetic Fields, Anarchy, ... and so on...
    you have also, in your country, some of the best musicians... i know...

    Many of them are no more involved on the scene but we still love their
    work.... you want some names.... just check: Rogue Male (Kevin Collier) who
    is my favourite, but also Deathjester, Allister Brimble, The Anchoret, 4-
    mat, u4ia, Tdk, James, Michael/Anathema, and many more ones that I can't
    remember now. You have also many good graphicians and coders but as it is
    not the thing I prefer I can't talk about it!

 W: Okay back to the overall scene now, could you tell us who are your
    favourite Groups, Gfx, Musicians etc. on the scene today and why?

                                                                      {

 C: My favourite Group: ..... North Star... ohhh, you want today.....
    Freezers... because I think they give a new start, a new way to discover
    the demo world.

    My favourite Graphician: Tatlin... you don't know him... I was like you
    before discovering his work... it's what we call modern art and it is an
    Italian dude. His pictures are very dark!

    My favourite Musician and a recent one... hmmm, I would like to say Maf of
    Silicon who is very good but, I must tell you that it's only because I'm
    listening a lot his modules now... a few weeks ago, it was Dreamer and
    before Sid & Chorus and before Fabian and before Dezecrator and ... and
    .... About my choice of Maf, it is because I find his work very good... a
    new hope in the french Amiga musical scene??? who know???

 W: Who are your all time favourites and how do you think the scene of
    1991/92 (probably the best years) compares to the scene of 95?

                                                                       {

 C: My all time favourites are for the groups: Vortex 42.... hmmm, too old!!!
    OK, I must be serious... North Star, The Silents and Kefrens. Why, I can't
    tell you but when i think to those crews (the first version of them!!!), I
    am always thinking about 'this good old time'. My all time fav. graphician:
    Facet... because we can with him how he has improve... Just have a look at
    his first logos and pics under Vision Label and now... There is a big
    difference and I like to see how sceners are improving.

    My all time fav. musician: always the same problem... Deathjester, I
    think... and also Jesper Kyd and also Walkman and also..... STOP.

    I love the first years of the Amiga, and I regret it a little bit but I am
    also very happy to see how the Amiga scene improved. I like how is the
    scene with his craps and his beautifuls. I think that we should not look
    too much to this so-called-so-nice past, nor to the present but think how
    we will make the future of the Amiga scene!

 W: Who would you say were your closest scene friends and Why??

                                                                        {

 C: My best friends on the scene are... They are the sceners that I know since
    a quite long time and who have like me resist to all the tempests (studies,
    girls, family, boring days,...). In fact, they are only a few ones.... they
    are in Norway (Frode - Zerox/Gods), in Germany (Manfred - Nightmare/Anarchy
    PC & Oliver - Trasher/Sanity+Artwork) and in France (Pascal -
    Brainwasher/Eremation). To all the others, this does not mean that you are
    not also good friends of mine but I know some of them since 1990.... which
    one??? just choose!

 W: Have you any enemies on the scene and if so why?

 C: My enemies.... I don't think that I have an enemy on the scene... In fact,
    I know that there are some dudes who do not like me but I really do not
    care about them... how can I care about young boys who think to have the
    Amiga scene when they joined it only a few years before... there are lotsa
    ones like them... they appear, they disappear.... and nobody remember them!

 W: Which parties have you attended and which was your favourite one of them
    all and why?

                                                                         {

 C: I visited a few of them... The last one was The Party 4... The next one
    will be the Gasp (In August by Dreamdealers & Eremation) and probably the
    Party Zone 3 (In August by Suspect). My favourite party was one in 1989
    held by Zigag in Colmar / France. It was the first party busted by Police
    In France. Today, when I think to it, I laugh.... but I must tell you that
    I was laughing when the cops came!!

 W: Be careful what you say here, but do you think the PC scene will eventually
    be bigger and stronger than the Amiga scene?

 C: I think that the PC scene become more and more bigger than the Amiga scene.
    Lotsa sceners are moving to Pc... I don't know why, perhaps they are tired
    to wait and they want something new. I must tell you that I think also to
    buy a Pc... but, only to play with... My little little brother has a game
    boy, my little bros has a Saturn and I will have a Pc !!!!

 W: What do you reckon to the future of Amiga with Escom?

 C: About Escom, I really expect that they will make something for the
    Amiga.... we are all tired to wait and to listen every months for new
    promises...                                                            {

    In France, at the moment, there is no new Amiga.... and the computers-
    sellers are selling the old ones quite expensive... I believe in Escom but
    move quickly and kills the rumours!!!!

 W: If Amiga dies what would you do?

 C: But, why the Amiga will die?????? I just read check the future and it
    seems that the Amiga will never die. But, in case the future is wrong, I
    think I will do as everybody... put my A1200 near my A500 which is near my
    A1000... and partying with my friends every nights, meeting girls, going to
    rave, going to restaurant, reading, etc. instead of writing letters,
    checking disks, and so on.

 W: Okay final question. Lately there have been more and more girls taking and
    interest in the scene. What do you think of girls on the scene?

 C: I discover also that many more girls are involving on the scene lately but,
    she should be care... how many of them are girls of sceners... too much
    ones, I think and only a few are involving here from herselves.... but, it
    is only my opinion!!!
                                                                           }
