Issue reviewed - #02

PRESENTATION AND DESIGN
R.A.W is a very new magazine in the
scene. Being the maker of the scene's
455th magazine doesn't make life very
easy for the producer. You have to
try and impress those that have seen
it all and have been given all the
polish and great layout they can take.
Well R.A.W succeeds with flying
colours in delivering just what was
needed. A healthy fresh aproach in
style and design that doesn't detract
or steal too much from any other
magazines, a little inspiration maybe,
if XXX mag didnt have XXX selector
then maybe R.A.W wouldn't too, if you
know what I mean. This is not a
critisism though. The first thing you
get with this magazine is probably the
most elaborate intro to a diskmagazine
ever! A mini vector world is just
waiting for every reader! Your 'view'
takes you into a nice little house
where a R.A.W vector logo can be found
doing tricks in zero gravity. The
magazine's a real treat for the eyes
too. A whole new graphic layout has
been installed this issue, which makes
the magazine look a whole lot more
professional than the chequered look
of the first issue, original though it
was! Icons are thoughtfuly placed and
easily recognisable, The fonts used
are very easy to read, and tasefull
colour scemes are used throughout.
The choice of different soundtracks
was also very welcome. Disk
manipulation however seemed a little
slow. 80/100

CONTENT
This is probably the single most
important factor that makes R.A.W the
strong magazine that it is. There is
a strong feeling of anti-love for the
whole scene that shows through every
article. You can even taste it in in
the jokes page!
all the editorial bias comes from Lord
Helmet, and his feelings are painted
accross almost every page like thick
red paint. You can read an interview
and the answers almost seem like they
were written by Lord Helmet himself.
They weren't of course, its just a
weird reflection of the magazine's
influence. The statements feature,
where Lord Helmet takes a quote from
someone in the scene from a interview
or other article and tears it to
pieces, and other such articles make
incredibly interesting reading, other
"Top" magazines should take a leaf out
of this book and get back to showing
editorial opinion in your pages,
people realy do prefer to read this
than "How to Swap", Or "How to Pick up
a Girl". 90/100

OVERALL
Diskmags, in my opinion, should
reflect and mix scene opinion with
that of its editors, R.A.W, gives you
a thrilling combination. As the label
said,"You know when it's RAW." 90/100
