Vision-Mirage X-MAS Party Report - 1 Author: Slasher/THE BASS Saturday 22/12 we started in my home- town around 10.00 with 2 other guys: Dirty Harry (coder) and Sampleman (musician). After a trip from about 100km we finally arrived at the party which took place in a big hall in Tilburg (Holland). When we entered at about 12.00 there were already 200-300 people present. The first thing that struck me was the darkness in the hall. But this was necessary for the sharp- ness of the big videoscreen where demos, games and some movies (Exorcist III, Flatliners) were shown. We installed our equipment (1 Amiga 500 and 3 external drives) and after this I started walking around, looking for some contacts and spreading our music- disk. There were quite a lot of well-known groups present like : Alpha Flight, Animators, The Special Brothers, Legend Royal Amiga Force... There were not too many releases but the things who were released were good : Beat Dis 6 (RAF), Sliding (cracked & trained by Legend), Sampleman Music Disk V (The Bass, hehe!) and some smaller demos and compacts. Suddenly all the lights went on because a VCR had been stolen from behind the stage (I don't know if the organizers have caught the thief) And because Pussy members were also putting their stickers everywhere (on the tables, in the toilet, on the floor), they were given the choice:they had to remove the stickers or the whole Pussy-crew would be removed from the party... At 18.00 there would be a graphics, music and demo competition. First I'll say the good things: unlike on the Prime 90 (in august) ALL demos, gfx and musix were shown. But the bad side was that there was a lot of shit shown like some awful logos etc. The winner of the gfx comp. was a kind of Iron Maiden Vision-Mirage X-MAS Party Report - 2 Author: Slasher/THE BASS picture which was in fact one of the only good pics which competed. Then there was a music competetion. Because of the fact that our musician had also made a tune for this competition we were very curious about it. There were very much tunes and also a lot of them were very shitty. There was also a guy who had entered three musix for the competition (and all three tunes were played) so this wasn't very fair against all the others who only made one song. Winner of this comp was another unknown guy with a very ordinary tune. But unlike demos and gfx, tastes of music can be very different... After this the demo competition started. Competitors were: The Special Brothers (with 2 demos), Panic, Pussy, Vernim, Animators. The results : 1st Iraq demo (Animators) (a megademo in the same style as Budbrain Megademo) 2nd Vernim Megademo 3rd XXX-Mess demo (Pussy) (they became third because the 'real' number three (Panic) had already left the party !). Altough the result was fair, there should have been a ranking for megademos and 'normal' demos cause it isn't fair to judge a megademo with 4 parts against a demo which only consists of one part. After the results (20.30) most guys left the party. Con- clusion : A very well organized party (in the neighbourhood of a big shopping center), lots of people, some good party releases and of course no power problem (my Amiga has been working from 12.00 to 21.00 without any inter- ruption!!!)
