Live #4 by DreamDealers

                        b y J e d i / N a r c o s i s

Upon slapping the first disk of two into the drive you realise that it's a
dos loader, but don't worry because all loading is reasonably nippy (even more
so if you have an hard drive like me!) Within 30 seconds the mag has loaded
and a few presentation screens fade in and out. The pics, particularly the
second one (which was in the Party III pic comp if I'm not mistaken), are
 extemely well drawn.

Soon you are confronted by the menu. Most diskmags of this size would have
at least 3 pages of articles to read, however Live #4 only has one menu. So it
would appear that they don't seem to have much support at the moment. The
actual menu is quite nicely drawn and the main music which accompanies it is
 nice in a bland `diskmag music' kinda way.{
Again, a point where Live falls down is that it doesn't have enough
`functions', just the basic left/right, volume, music requester to return to
menu. A nice feature is the change design option. This allows you to switch
between 2 border and icon designs, both of the ones included are ok.

Now onto the important bit - articles! Well, the articles are pretty
average really with only a small selection of topics covered, nothing like the
wide range of subjects the 3 main UK scene mags get through!

Generally the articles are readable with only the odd spelling mistake or
badly worded sentences creeping in, although certain articles appear to have
 lots of literacy mistakes.

Overall though the editing is of a high standard (and they are French, so
their English is much better than my French is!) The last thing in the mag is
the gallery. Most of the pictures seem to be taken from the Party III, a few
portrait pics of scene guys seem to have been `doctored' slightly. Check it
out for yourself to see what I mean!

     Right then, here's the roundup:
