 INTERVIEW - AUSSIE ALLIANCE!

 Interview by: Felon/Devious.

    RR: RoaDRuNNa
    JM: J/\ger/\/\eister

 1) First off could ya tell us a
little about the alliance and how it
 came to be ???

RR: Going right back to March-April
 1994 there was some initial
discussion about setting up a group
of boards to get some friendship and
 serious trading happening on the
 Australian scene. The boards that
were to be involved were Burning
 Crime in Sydney, Meltdown in
 Newcastle and Hollywood Vampires in
 Adelaide. Nothing eventuated from
this discussion and the idea was all
but forgotten for some time. In
early May ThoRN the sysop of
 Hollywood Vampires and myself (
RoaDRuNNa ) talked about the idea
again and decided if we didn't get
off our arses and do sumthing nothing
would eventuate. So we called in
 J/\ger/\/\eister and had a 3 way
conference to try and get this thing
off the ground. We started going
through some names that would reflect
what we were out to achieve. Some
 really bizarre names were tossed
around but finally the 3 of us agreed
on " The Illegal Alliance " That
evening we informed Incubus the sysop
of Meltdown that we'd got the ball
rolling and asked if he was still
interested in the idea. Incubus was
as enthusiastic as the rest of us and
so from that night the Alliance was
born. As things progressed and after
Sheedy the sysop of Uninvited joined
the group we started making plans on
getting an Alliance board in every
state of Australia. We also decided
that the " Illegal Alliance " was not
suitable anymore and thus changed our
name to " The Aussie Alliance "

 2) Who else was a member of the
 Alliance ?

 3) When the AA ViC HQ Uninvited was
busted was there any indication that
somebody had dobbed in the BBS ?

RR: As with any bust there's gonna
be suspicion on whether or not
someone NARCed. One event that led
us to beleive that there was indeed a
NARC was the fact that when the FEDS
 raided Sheedy's house they covered
the monitor with their hands whilst
they logged into the BBS. Although
after being interviewed Sheedy is now
doubtful that a NARC was involved but
 then again who really knows...

 4) Also tell us a little bit about
the informal letter that the AA SA HQ
 Hollywood Vampires recieved.

RR: Well after getting a warning
from Incubus that someone had it in
for Thorn and his board Hollwood
Vampires and telling me to be on the
lookout for any text files both
 myself and Thorn were quite
concerned. Sure enough a week later
a text file appeared on Hollywood
Vampires telling him to shutdown or
he will be shutdown !!! To this day
Incubus still refuses to tell us
where he got his information from and
even more surprising was the fact
that the text file was written, spelt
and set out in the exact same way as
some text files that were written by
 Incubus...

 JM: Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ... The
 indications are that threats received
were virtually identical in style and
grammar to other text files created
and distributed by an individual ...
 These text files were being
 created/spread on a very regular
basis by that individual, and thus
were very easy to compare/etc ...

 5) Is it fact that Incubus ex AA and
sysop of Meltdown lagged in the AA
 WHQ Burning Crime ?

JM: It appears to be so ... Threats
(again in text files) were being
 made, promises of forthcoming doom
were made, etc etc ... An interview
was setup by Incubus with a so called
journo with the ABC, which I (
 J/\ger/\/\eister ) attended... And
that convo went again and again to
 discussion of Hacking, Phreaking,
Piracy etc etc. When the original
concept was intended as: A BBS
community - The other side of this
 often misunderstood hobby ...

Captures taken by the FEDS were
 checked for dates and corresponded
 with Incubus calling times (Alias
used was AmiCRON by Incubus as he
didn't want to be recognised as
becoming one of the top 10 leechers
on BC, and doing so VERY FAST ...

Incubus mentioned he no longer wanted
to call the BBS after the New Year.
 The Search Warrant clearly stated,
the BBS was being watched from the
 1/1/95 till 19/1/95 ... Incubus
called 3 times during those times,
and those lined up with the dates on
 the captures ...

 RR: Beyond reasonable doubt !!!

 6) What was the official date that
 the AA ended ?

 JM: It hasn't ended !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BC was one of the cogs, and we are
sure when the hardware is returned,
AA will rise again from it's much
 needed resting place ...

RR: The Alliance is definately at
its lowest point at the moment and I
think now is a good time for a well
earned rest for all involved. If
indeed BC does go back up and morale
picks up again we may get back to the
 way we were.

 7) Briefly can u tell us a little
about Burning Crime and the bust ?

JM: The FEDS arrived 23/01/95 at
 7:10am, spent some time videotaping
the BBS in action (Main /X Server
 window only) ... Interviewed myself,
 the Telecom representative spent
about 1 1/2 hours trying to get a
 supposed Telecom test number to
actually ring BC ... It finally
worked ... Now i wonder why it took
that long to work ??? Who is setting
 up who ???

Took ALL computer equipment - A1200,
 A2000, A3000 - 6 modems, 3 gig H/Ds
 250meg Archive, 2.1gig DAT, Monitors,
 Mobile Phone, Personal and Private
mail and 100's of floppy discs, etc
 etc ...

 8) Now that theres no more AA what
will become of yourself and what will
u be doing in the future ?

RR: Well for the time being I am
 concentrating on getting more
involved on the Internet and doing
some more coding. I will still be
keeping in touch with all AA guyz and
expect to be working on a revival in
 the not too distant future.

JM: AA is having a much needed break
( current lack of warez circulation
shows just how much hard work/trade
was done by AA ) ... AA will have a
 rethink of strategy, restructure it's
 "alliances and friendships", and then
 get back into it ...

 I (J/\ger/\/\eister) will be around
 on either Industrial Accident and/or
 Tombstone.

 9) Lastly what would you like to say
 to Incubus/Meltdown BBS ?

JM: There is nothing to be said
 except change your medication ...

RR: Yeah change it to cyanide ya low
 life !!!

 NOTE: Aussie Alliance is now
 Officially Dead! RoadRunna has
 now joined Devious Dezigns!
