INTERVIEW WITH JESTER/SANITY Our next victim is the already well-known Jester of Sanity! -------------------------------------- T20: Hello... Would you like to be interviewed??? I'm sure ya want so let's start... A little intro? Jester: Well, I'm really tired but I'll try to manage that... I'm Jester of Sanity, 20 years old and since I know how to use Protracker I'm a musician in my group! T20: Yep, a Protracker-user like all the others except that you are number 2 in the Musicians Chart... J: Well, it's nice to see that my work is appreciated but that won't give me a big head. In spite of that chart-position I still look up to my all-time idols like Moby or Mantronix even though they are ranked lower IN THE CHARTS (but certainly NOT in my personal opinion!) T20: Your inspiration sources?? J: New sounds/samples, mainly. T20: Any commercial inspiration? J: Yes ofcourse, the 70's Disco, 80's Pop but also some classical music! T20: Any special groups? J: I could mention a lot of groups, the most important ones certainly are The Smiths, The Pet Shop Boys, New Order and of course Abba'n Erasure... T20: I'm sure that many guys out there would like to know what hardware you've got... J: Well as everybody,I have an Amiga (500..) with extradrive, 1 meg , a monitor (I'm really lucky, you see...) a Deluxe Sound Sampler and Midi-Interface. Moreover I use a Roland D10 and a Yamaha TG33. Sometimes I borrow some KORG, AKAI and ENSONIQUE machines from pals of mine. My biggest source, though, are my sampling CDs (worlds of new sounds!) T20: What software do ya use for the midi? J: The one and only MED from TEIJO KINUNNEN ! T20: Have you received any musical education? J: SAD BUT TRUE, no musical education at all. I don't even play a single instrument (flute?-ed.) T20: And now over to the party...Were you present at the music-competition (stupid question...) J: Yes of course but it was really at the highest degree of noninterest and boredom. There were only a fistfull of tunes I liked (Lizardking, Moby, Doh, Audiomonster) and the rest was all poor techno and pseudo-jazz crap. T20: So what do you think about the techno-wave that invades the music scene? J: Well I think that it allows to untalented people to compose acceptable music in their own style! T20: I think ya expected this question... What do you think 'bout Jesper Kyd? J: He's maybe the only exception to the techno-rule... I mean, he's the only techno-composer who has developed a style of his own and his music fits the Silents productions really well. Still I think his stuff is too weak to stand on its own. T20: So, were ya on the Kyd/Balle concert? (I think I know the answer...) J: Nope, but that's just because I was so awfully tired. I was somewhere in hall 3. Snoozing and dreaming (oh, how sweet ...).
