A R I S E P A R D E Y R E P O R T

       By Dad-1916 of Quadriga.

     Saturday 8th of August 1992.
         And so it begins...

I Had to wake up at 8am this morning
as I had booked a train for 9.09 am.
My train ticket cost me 99DM (33 Irish
pounds or about 30 English pounds) so
I hoped this was going to be a good
pardey.

When I got to the station I found out
that the train was delayed by 15
minutes. If the train is that late
i'm wont be able to catch my change-
over train! Well Luckily the change-
over train was on the same platform so
I made it. I was now on the way to
Koln where I would have to change
again. Arrived in Koln and went
straight to McDonalds where their
international cuisine filled me up,
before getting onto yet another train
in the direction of Hellenthal (Pardey
location).

This train headed out in the country
side, which was nice, but it was a bit
like leaving all civilisation behind.
At 12.16 pm. The train pulled into a
station called "KALL" where I got off
because Hellenthal is not on any train
line (WHAT, an uncivilised Zone!).

After buying a beer in the station
(for 60p!) I meet Funky from Agnostic
Front, who said he had being waiting
for two hours for the bus to

Hellenthal (by the way ,the
temperature was around 37 Degrees
Celcius!). We talked for a while and
about an hour later we boarded a bus
to our final destination. All the
Phreaks had paper money and no coins
so the bus driver took ages to get us
all onto the bus. After a 20 minute
trip we arrived in Hellenthal and
followed the pardey signs until we got
to the hall...

            P A R D E Y !

We paid our 15 DM (5 pounds Irish,
same(ish) in STG) entry fee and after
signing our names in the visitors book
we headed up the stairs to the pardey.
Well, it was a big hall and at this
time (1.20pm) there were only about
50-60 phreaks present. The PA setup
was very impressive, with Bose
speakers and a load of technical
warzes in the middle of the stage.

Among this setup was a large screen
(for demos and videos), a VCR, two
Amiga's, a Hi-Fi system and about 200
cd's with the latest grooves!
Remember this was only the STAGE! On
the large floor there were about 7
Amiga's (all 1500's and 2000's with
the exception of an 500) with all the
Phreaks coding (most popular assembler
was Asm-One! maybe this was because it
was supposed to be a legal Pardey?
[Asm-One ISN'T PD!]), copying and
viewing the latest demos.

The bar was open, even at this early
stage, with a beer costing 60p and a
coke 30p. Downstairs was a tagging/
piecing (graffiti) wall with most of
the crews tags. Between 1.30pm an
6.00pm every thing was pretty clam
with a load of new videos playing
every one and a half hours. Somewhere
around 6.30pm I headed out from the
pardey to get stuck into some Nosh!

Nice little pizzarea around the corner
where I quickly consumed a fine
Burger, fries and a Bit-Burger beer
all for around 2 pounds! I headed
back to the pardey to find the place
getting pretty busy. Now there were
about 150 phreaks and 25 Amiga's fired
up. Beer drinking had hotted up now
and there was a sense of excitement
/anticipation around (What I meant was
that the German beerz were now
beginning to take effect!).

I met up with the members of the
German group U.D.O, with whom I was
with most of the night. We got stuck
into Xcopy and later after about 300
copies (that bloody "Boing" sample
gets rather irritating after 4 hours
hearing it every 48 seconds!).

I again headed out to demolish another
burger or ten (after all I had
travelled over 150 miles and I was
tired of "Bit-Burger" beer for the
moment).

The Disco was in all reality a bit
lame due to the fact that there were
150-200 freaks and 0.00 women! The
music was fine (quick tekno). I
Assumed that most Phreaks would be
getting a bit of sleep at around 2 am
so I headed off about then. I was
woke up a number of times (once by a
guy who puked 20 yards away!) and I
noticed that A lot of freaks were
still up partying.

I got up next day at 6 am (How can
anyone sleep with a pair of Bose
speakers at full volume, beats me!)
and went out on a quest for food.

Hellenthal is a very small village
near the Belgium border and no place
was open! Not much was happening this
morning as everyone was waiting for
the Competition that were due to begin
at 11.00am. The bus to the station
only departs once every four hours on
the Sunday and I also had to get a 3
and a half hour train ride so I headed
off at 11.00 am with the guys from
Ferrox who were also leaving. Don't
ask me who won the demo (etc.)
competitions as I was on my way home
when this was happening.

Overall an excellent party! A few
small problems though. Firstly and
most importantly no Guinness (an Irish
Stouty "beer" was on sale. It was
claimed that there would be a sleeping
location and a place for equipment and
bags which there wasn't. The disco
was lame due to 0.00 women (all-right
if your a bent faggot but I'm not
(unlike a certain EX-Q.D.G member).

Other than that everything was
Brilliant!
