@t7,03@^@t8@f09@cAn opinion of Party 92!

@t1@f00
On the 4th April 1992,Anarchy,arguably
the best demo group in the UK if not
the world held their first confrence of
the year, and they couldnt have picked
a nicer day for it,glorious sunshine
followed us all the way from Bolton
to our destination. The Royston
Civic Hall, Royston ,Barnsley,England.
They had sold over 300 tickets and were
expecting a big turn out at the door.
I arrived at about ten a.m and there
was plenty of people already in the
building when we got in. At this point
Id better explain that i am with
Nightshift TV who cover all Amiga
confrences on video. I suppose I am
fortunate to be able to go up to
complete strangers and ask them their
views on the party and the UK scene(yuk
@^

i hate that word). First impressions
on the actual room, well it seemed a bit
small for the actual amount of people
expected ,this was confirmed when i was
told that another part of the building
had been opened. Already groups had
set up their machines and were raring
to go. The bar opened at 12 and soon
people started to get into party mood.
Some of the Groups who attended the
party were, DIGITAL,NEMESIS,DUAL CREW,
CRYSTAL,ALCHEMY,TSL,GHOST,PHOENIX,ANTHRO
X,ALLIANCE,DIMENSION X,LSD,PLAGUE,
DIANETIX,UNIQUE,POWERHOUSE,SLIPSTREAM,QU
ARTZ. So a good turn out of groups as
you can see,but were they satisfied? I
spoke to MFD/SILENTS who seemed to be
enjoying the party, the only bad thing
was because of the two buildings he
@#@t7,03@^couldnt find people he was looking for
and couldnt be arsed walking round for
an hour looking for them. MATRIX/LSD
said that they had tried to make the
party like a foreign party, which didnt
really work. Apart from these few
negative comments a vast majority of
the people i interviewed thought that
the party was excellent. And i have to
agree with them really,ok the two rooms
might have been a problem to some
people,but i thought it was a good
opportunity to escape the noise of the
main room and to go outside and enjoy
the sun. So we had an all day bar for
those who like to drink all day(not me
as i am of course teetotal) but what
about the food ,well on sale were
various sandwhiches at 1 pound each and
pizza orders were taken on the day,
other than that there was no hot food
available.I spoke to No.5 of Digital
and asked for his comments,he replied
@^"That it wasnt a bad party,but next
time they would get it right", He felt
that the venue was too small for the
number of people that had turned up,he
was also miffed about there being no
hot food available,But apart from that
he thought that most people enjoyed the
day.Well the day was going fine when we
heard that somebody had stolen a
printer from the school building,if you
are that person you are a tosser!
Unfortunatly this meant that all the
prize money for all competitions had to
be cancelled, but trophys would still be
awarded. I spoke to Judge drokk of
Anarchy and asked him about the the
attendance. So with an attendance of
approx five hundred people this was
infact the biggest uk party ever held.
At about sixoclock the alternative comp
got underway,for the first round
contestants had to drink a full pint of
beans as fast as possible,a few of the
@#@t7,03@^contestants i recognised as blit of
Phoenix,manx of Anthrox,merlin of
SLIPSTREAM or whatever you are calling
yourself these days. Anyway the comp
consisted of three heats the winners
then going into the grand final, were
they had to suck or crunch extra strong
mints and then without warning drink a
full pint of water(not easy as they
tell me). Sadly we did not get the
winners name, but i will tell you one
thing he had no teeth, maybe thats how
he won?. After the alternative comp
there was the judging of the demos and
music etc,A tv was put on stage to show
the various demos and then after that
the winners were announced.
After the results were announced most
people started to make their way home
that was about half past nine, although
some people had already left. To sum
it up Anarchys party 92 had been a
success,a small survey which we did on
@^the day revealed that a majority of
people had give 7/10 some higher and
just a couple of lower marks,at the end
of the day its upto the people to make
the party, and its very easy to
criticise things like two buildings and
no hot food, most of these people
couldnt organize a piss up if they were
given the keys to boddingtons brewery,i
for one enjoyed the day and would give
it a wopping 7/10 too.I would like to
thank Razorblade/Alliance for driving
us there, and to all the people i met
for making it a great day. And dont
forget folks Party 92 THE VIDEO is now
available which contains interviews
with the big and not so big names in
the scene,if you were there then make
sure you order a copy, for details write
