     CRYSTAL - SILENTS - ANARCHY
        THE PARTY '91 - REPORT

          By Cesium of FROGS

It sure was The party of a lifetime
wich it was said in the invitation!
Approximately 1250 people were
gathered in a huge conference hall in
the small town of Aars, Denmark.
All the elite crews were represented
and a lot of high quality stuff
were released.

For me and my two team members of
Frogs- GS and BYE the travel to Aars
started in Stavanger, Norway. We took
the train to Kristiansand and the
ferry over to Hirtshals. From there
we took two trains to get to Aalborg
where we had to wait for about one
hour together with lots of other
computerfreaks until the bus arrived.
The bus was OK, but where was the
promised TV and the video?

After 45 mins of driving, we arrived
at the partyplace. After a quick
check-in, we got to our reserved
places (well done by the organizers!),
got up our gear and looked around.

The place was as made for arranging a
party. It had one big hall so that
all the people could be at one place,
a nice cafeteria with fair prices and
a big seperate sleeping hall for those
who wanted to sleep away the fun
(which I almost didn't) and a big
screen wich they showed MTV with infos
and movies. They actually had a TV-
transmitter so that everybody who had
brought their TV could tune into the
movie channel or MTV n' info.

GS and I had brought a videocamera
because we were going to make a TV-
program for our local TV-station "TV-
Vest" so we started filming the
partyplace and the people that had
showed up. During the first day, most
of the people were present.

The next day started with an
announcement: -Because of the
firealarm going off this night, we
might cancel the democompetition. We
want everybody to stop getting drunk
and behave properly. They said that
they had to pay 20.000 DEK (about
$2800) because of the fire corps
arriving. Well, that was not nice to
do against somebody trying so hard to
make it a party to be remembered, but
fortunately the compos went on as
planned (they only skipped some
surprise compos).

GS and I went on with our filming and
we interviewed one coder
(Alta/Rebels), a musician
(HeadX/Andromeda) and a graphician
(Slash/Anarchy) wich were going to
compete in the competition. Too bad
that none of them were among the three
most voted entries.

Later on the time was set for showing
the latest Silents video-demo. Boy it
was great! It was like a music video
with lots of stunning effects made on
the Amiga and a great sound by Jesper
Kyd. You just gotta get a copy of
this one! When it was over, it got a
standing ovation, which was certainly
deserved.
Next day rumours said that the police
had shown up to calm down some
troublemakers, but neither I nor
anybody I talked to had seen
anything so I can't tell if it was
true or false.

On the big screen some strange movies
started to appear. First they just
showed some regular porn movies, but
when that wasn't enough, they sent
some disgusting animal-sex movies.
Well I don't turn on when a girl is
doing it with a horse, but
computerfreaks are said to be strange,
so...

Time for the competitions: First out
was the GFX compo. It had some great
entries and the winner was
Iridon/Shinida with a great fantasy
like picture. But weren't the blond
girl a bit too much "inspired" by the
pic Mithrandir drew for I.C.E?
Anyway, the rankings were:

          1. Iridon/Shinida
           2. Cougar/Sanity
           3. R.W.O/Kefrens

The music competition were a bit
disappointing, I think. I mean, it
was good, what can you expect when the
whole elite musicians competes, but
there were so little originality in
the tunes.

   1. Mantronix (and TIP)/Phenomena
           2. Static/Rebels
            3. Nightlight

Results of the democomp: Alcatraz just
had to win this one with their
absolutely brilliant (but a bit boring
to watch several times) 5 disks demo
Odyssey. The runner-ups were:

   2. Hardwired - Silents/Crionics
            3. Razor 1911
              4. Horizon
              5. Anarchy

After the competitions, everybody
(including me) went around to copy the
released products. Too bad was that
neither Crystal Symphonies II nor
Sound of Silents II was finished in
time for the party.

I met some of my contacts like
Photon/Vixen (hi M8!) and we had a
good time together, and I had lotsa
fun during the three days the party
was held. So if you weren't there....
You should regret for the rest of your
life!
End.
