An Interview with Frap of Magnetic Fields ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SD - Hi Frap!, Is this the first time youve been interviewed for a disk mag? MF - Well, not really I have been interviewed for a couple of other disk magazines, but most of 'em never get published. It is a great honour to be interviewed by one of the best leading magazines. I hope that everyone reading this, gets great gets great pleasure from doing so. SD - How long have you been a member of Magnetic Fields? MF - I have been in Magnetic Fields straight from the beginning and I like being a member of Magnetic Fields as everyone is so friendly especially cosy (keep on sending those games!!). SD - Can you tell me a little about MF, and its members? MF - Magnetic Fields started about 2 years ago, when two main groups called Sub-Zero and Nitro A.C joined together to form MF. At the moment we have quite a few coders, musicians, swappers etc. SD - Were you one of the founder members of the group? MF - I'm afraid I was not one of the founders of Magnetic Fields, but I was one of the main members who got Magnetic Fields so famous, as I have a good relationship with all the foreign groups, and thats very important when you are first -- Magnetic Fields Interview -- - Page 2 - starting out!. SD - How did you become labled as "The biggest demo freak in the U.K"? MF - Oh I did not know I was labled as "The biggest demo freak in the UK" but anyway It's fairly easy, all you need to be a total square face have loadsa money and bags of time sitting infront of the boring X-COPY!!. Theres still a lot more work to do still I am the No1 Demofreak!!!. SD - What do you think about the demo scene in the UK, do you think we match the rest of the world or or lacking in someway? MF - At the moment we are lacking behind the European Groups in producing nice quality demos(worth spreading), but as I say we are not that far behind!! Especially Anarchy who are probably the best group in England for demos, not forgetting your musician 4-MAT who is so cool at composing the nicest music. The answer to your question "Yes we are still lacking". SD - What do you think about your own groups productions? How would you speak of them if you were in another group? MF - Oh if I was in another group I would say they were @#$@. No only kidding we are not bad, but as I always say to our coders, they are still not as polished as foreign demos, we are getting there!!. SD - What would make an ideal party for you? MF - My ideal party would be one with no bigheads who think there cool! -- Magnetic Fields Interview -- - Page 3 - SD - Now its time for those "Favourite Things" questions!, Who would you rate as the top 5 all round groups in A..The U.K, B..The World? MF - In the world are 1. Scoopex 2. Paradox 3. Skidrow/Valhalla 4.Oracle 5. Quartex I will not comment on the UK as you will get all the lamers moaning saying "I am the fuckin best" (Remember Scooter/LADS) SD - Who are your Favourite Coders, Musicians & Artists in the whole wide world ever? MF - My favourite coders are RSI, Kefrens, Budbrains, Alcatraz, Crionics. My favourite musicians are Romeo- Knight, Uncle Tom, Enstein,& 4-Mat My favourite artists are anyone who produces cool grafix! SD - What do think about megademo's?, have they become stuffy, out of fashion, and far too common or do they just need a boost in the arm? MF - Megademos ar e O.K, some of them are really mega, but usually they have a cool beginning, cool ending, + loadsa shit in between, but take Budbrains Megademo, really polished and mega. (hope more come out?) SD - Do Magnetic Fields, intend to produce a megademo in the future? MF - At the moment, we would like to produce a Megademo, but by the time we would have completed each -- Magnetic Fields Interview -- - Page 4 - part and released it, each part would be out of date and really shit, I think it would be better doing a good demo and releasing it one at a time. It makes more sense to do a g ood demo instead of loadsa boring parts. SD - Who do you admire most in the scene today, and why? MF - I really don't admire anything in the scene at the moment, as there are far too many big heads out there!!! SD - How much did the loss of Spooks coding talents effect MF?, has it made the other coder s in the group get their fingers out? MF - The loss of spook has not really affected us as we have another cool coder called Turboslug,& more great coders who are always on new relea ses, so watch out for them? SD - How and when did you discover there was such a thing as an 'Amiga Scene"? MF - When I first started to get new contacts, as I was on the good old C64, its a bit of common sense to become hot again. SD - Being a "Demo Freak", you'll have seen a hell of a lot of demos, do you remember most, and why? MF - Yes I can remember loadsa demos, also I have a huge collection of demos ranging from the Cat Anims to the v.Latest demos. (1200 disks) -- Magnetic Fields Interview -- - Page 5 - SD - Which is your favorite Magnetic Fields demo? MF - My favourite demo by Magnetic Fields has got to be the Vectorbobs demo, although I was impressed by the Zarjaz demo and Copper intro. SD - Whats coming next from Magnetic Fields, and where does the group plan to go from here? MF - The next plan is the Party which is very soon, so I Hope many groups can turn up and make the party a good one. I don't know when this issue is coming out so you will just have to wait till the party to find out whats coming. SD - Well, this is the last question! Is there anything you'd like to add before we end the interview? MF Yes, Have you bloody finished asking me questions, Now I have to get some sleep, bye everyone!!! see ya all soon, and take care!! SD - Thanks for your time, have fun, stay cool, ---------->Drokk
