A casual interview with Num3n/Shelter on IRC! .wiseguy@hm.telia.no. WiseGuy; First of all I would like you to tell us something about yourself! Num3n; hehe.. Just a.. uhm.. normal guy, into computers and fotball. I even play drums in a band.. (ekkelt å snakke engelsk til en normann) Maybe people who know me would call exactly normal, but.. WiseGuy; I heard some wild rumours about a trip to poland, could you tell us more about that? Num3n; Jocl! :) Well it was Me, Baffle, Arcane, Enex, Pinocchio, Skjeggspir, a guy who calls himself Spurv, and a non-scener that just wanted to take a trip to poland this summer. It was really to meet Billy/Royal and party a bit, but since we found out Billy was a real asshole (hehe) we went mainly on our own. Intel Outside 4 was being held while we were there too, so we jumped on the train and got to the right city eventually :) Spurv and Skjeggspir left after only 5-6 days I think, but the rest of us had a damn good time. Parties every day, and we went to a club called the "Come In", even on a sunday (!) WiseGuy; Could you tell how Intel Outside was compared to Norwegian partys? Num3n; It rocked! There were very few computers there, so people was most interrested in talking to each other and meeting people they know from the scene etc. The party even had a beer-tent outside! Not that we (the norwegians) used it much, since we had smuggled in some bottles of fine polish vodka ;).. Mine had peach taste, btw.. And seeing Petro Tyschtschenko (is that how it's spelled?) standing on the stage, drunk like hell, singing an Amiga song.. that was really the high-light ;) WiseGuy; hehe that sounds cool. I also have heard your name mentioned with an Merchedes, wat was all that about? Num3n; Hrmpft! Hmm.. I don't really want to get into that.. but I can say as much as.. I don't remember it.. although my footprints were all over the roof. ;D WiseGuy; Can i assume you where under the influence of some kind then? Num3n; ahemm.. I can only reccomend Polish vodka.. =) WiseGuy; So what is your thoughts about the Amiga then? Num3n; Well I love the machine, and I've invested a lot of money in my Amiga lately, so I hope it'll keep going for quite a while yet.... not sure if I really understood the question? I'm going in a kind of Microsoft education school, and I'm the only one in my class without a PC, so I suppose you could call me a fanatic :) WiseGuy; Well i just have to say you look quite fanatic also ;) Num3n; You have my picture? argh! :) WiseGuy; Yes i have your picture ;) In the interest of humanity we wont show it! ;) Do you use it to any serious work? Are you member of any group and such? Num3n; Well, up until now, it's been mostly internet and a few essays and writing projects. I've even started making a homepage! :) Now I'm just waiting for a bigger HD, so I can do some serious Mac emulation and somehow get win95 to work, so I can do some of the schoolwork at home (Visual Basic etc.. yuck) WiseGuy; How do you see the future of the amiga? Do you think the PowerUps will do any good? Num3n; Well, I have bought a PowerUP card myself, and if there will just be a bit more software for it, I think it could be the future. I'm not blind, and I don't expect the Amiga to get as big as it was again, but as long as I can use it as an alternative to Win95, which I get enough of at school, I will keep on using it. I just hope GW2000 were serious when they said they would "put millions into advertising" for the Amiga... I've been hoping for so long.. waiting a little more won't kill me. :) WiseGuy; What is your thoughts about porting pc and mac software to the amiga? Num3n; Porting the software is great, since there aren't really much resources to develop it on the Amiga right now. The only thing is that it takes AGES before the port is done. Like MYST, and now Quake. The games don't seem to get ported before they're outdated on the other platforms... :/ (sorry if I'm slow to answer, but I AM having a lesson in Visual Basic) =) WiseGuy; Well we have to addmit the amiga have suffered greatly from piracy. What is your thoughts about that? Consider the last few software houses trying to support the amiga with new games? Num3n; Well, as big as the PC sales of games are, I don't give a shit about piracy. I don't think that piracy actually killed the Amiga, but right NOW it might be. People who are still with the Amiga are people who love their machines and would really like to stick with it. So I don't understand why they can't buy SOME software now and then. Sure, I admit that I don't buy everything I use, far from it, but I TRY to buy stuff that I use often. Like when I bought my PPC card, I asked to get Trapped 2 for free, and I did.. sure, the dealer didn't make any money on it, but the software house did. :) WiseGuy; Well Im no better than you there ;) But do you think the the CDROM age did come to late on the amiga? Do you think much of the piracy could have been avoided if games and other software was releases on cdrom? Num3n; Hmm.. no, I think it might have been too early when commodore introduced it. (the CDTV etc.).. WiseGuy; Well we all remember that flop with the CDTV, but if cdroms where made available for the a1200 back in 1993, would things have been diffrent today then? Num3n; Well, I don't know.. I don't like to think about that, really.. "What if" questions really don't interrest me.. btw.. you asked if I was in any groups.. well, I'm in Shelter, but I'm not really active at the moment. :) better late than never. WiseGuy; Okay then we talk about something that interest you? What does? Num3n; Hmm.. Parties? yeah.. I need money.. please give donations to this account number: 1050 11 40983... and remember.. Jesus loves you! :) WiseGuy; So what is your point of view when it comes to religion then? You dont seems to be much into faith... Num3n; Hehe.. not really, no. I've just had enough of people trying to force their thoughts on other people. WiseGuy; And what kinda people are that? got any special hatered ones? Num3n; Priests, left-oriented politicians, parents.. the lot. :) WiseGuy; Lets backtrack a bit ;) What do you think about internet. Will it be a place where you let your kids play somewhere in distant future? It can be lot of fun, but then again there is much bad things to; Num3n; Hmm.. kids? I hate kids.. but I suppose I'd let them play with it. I'm sure it won't be anything like it is today in 10-20 years, but.. it's a nice place to express your opinions and get heard. WiseGuy; What about all those perverts lurking around? IRC is a pedophilian playground to? Num3n; Hehe.. maybe I could make some money on that.. just sell them any kids I'd have.. nice thought.. :) WiseGuy; You dont mean that seriously do you? Num3n; Nah.. people shouldn't really take anything I say to seriously. :) Well, it's a dangerous world. I don't think the internet is worse than any other place. WiseGuy; I just got my phonebill here and all i can say is "Yikes", so do you have any last words you want to say? Num3n; Hehe!.. Hmmm.. Go to poland! It has to be the coolest place to have a vecation.. and great night life every day of the week.. :) and PS! Stay away from the Mercedes'es... -//- Somehow one way or the other Im gonna find out about that Mercedes incident... - Wiseguy/Instinct. [Message by Soda coming up...] PS: Hi, this is Soda of Instinct. Since I'm supposed to be the main-editor of this magazine, I look upon it as my duty to correct spelling-mistakes and similar. However, after having quite an argument with Wiseguy of Instinct, an argument where he made it clear that I weren't allowed to correct his and num3n's spelling-mistakes (to be frank; they both SUCK in english! ;), I decided that hey; if he doesn't want to have his interview spell-checked, it's up to him. However, this behaviour will not be tolerated in the future, so all of you guys out there; please don't start fucking with me, ok? I hate all them damned grammar-mistakes! :) He he...
