JUHLA 1996

Juhla had the opportunity to be the first party to open the scene-virgin year of 1996. A previously PC dominated event, this year's Juhla saw it fit to organise Amiga-related contests. The 3-day long party opened it's doors on the 19 January, and was held at the assembly hall of "Yla Savon Ammattioppilatos", a small school situated in Iisalmi, Finland.

A total number of 250 persons showed up, including visitors, VIS, organizers and security, making Juhla one of the many typical Finnish events that see the light of the scene throughout the year!

One of the most curious ambiguities was the fact that drinking was totally prohibited in Iisalmi... not only inside the party hall, but also in most public places in town! Not wanting to stay with a dry mouth, brave Stellar heroes, Nose and Frankie were even picked up, fined and held by the police for one whole hour, after a short 10 minute long alcoholic adventure! Fortunately they were released in time to finish their contribution for the demo competition!

A combined 4/multi channel music contest was arranged. Just like the graphics contest, the dominance of the PC scene can be clearly seen with a high amount of multi channel modules, occupying high places. The 14th position is occupied by HeatBeat's "comeback", who is said to have re-started composing more of his funny Amiga, hard disk only tunes!
