He's member of one of the deepest
groups of the scene. He got the 7th
place at the party IV gfx competition.
His handle is the second most
unpronounciable one after Posdnuos.
Who is he? He's TYSHDOMOS of ABYSS
and we thought it was a good idea to
interview him.
Find out if we were right...

Since almost one year I'm 17 years
old. I still go to school and got no
idea what I could do after leaving it.
A lazy guy without motivation. Scene
career? well, it doesn't exist, or at
least it's very short. AGOA and than
ABYSS, but I could tell you the whole
story. I played games, saw some
demos, got DPaint 4 (with a little
virus), tried to paint, thought I was
great (but wasn't), tried to join
famous groups, got no answer
(ofcourse), tried to get contacts
(without success), went on painting,
still thought I was great (but
wasn't), got first contact
-Fashion/Static Bytes- (Danke Andreas;
tut mir leid, dass ich nicht mehr
schreibe, aber Du hattest ja eh nix
von unserem "swap".),joined a french
group called AGOA (hi there), was dead
happy, they didn't release anything,
Toxic asked me to join, joined, never
regreted it (not yet).

You mainly gained the attention of all
the scene with two excellent pictures
like 'Smell it' and Raped', which have
both received pretty positive
reactions and flattering comments.
Could you please tell something about
the making of both these pictures?

Sorry, but I really don't know what I
should tell you about them. They are
ripped. It took ages. It was boring.
But the result satisfied me, and
that's the only reason why I go on
painting.

'Raped' placed only 7th on the final
ranking at the Party 4 graphics
contest, but was Peachy the right
winner in your opinion? If not, who
was the right winner?

I think the right winner would have
been Tyshdomos/Abyss as he really
needed the money. (there have been so
many great pictures that it is
impossible to say who should have been
the winner, I can only say it was
neither Tyshdomos nor Peachy (Helge is
nice, but not great))

How you rank yourself in the todays
graphical scene and who's actually the
best graphician in the german scene?

Concerning the result I'm not one of
the worst. Concerning the amount of
pictures I might be the worst.
Concerning the time I need for one
picture I'm surely the worst.
German graphician hmm, well, I'm not
really involved in the scene, and when
I see a picture I often don't know
where the artist comes from. As far
as I know Cougar is the best one, but
his picture for the Party4 isn't that
good (taking into consideration that
it's no copy it's ofcourse great, but
in comparison to his other pictures
... )

--------------------------------------
Only two pictures released as far as I
am concerned. Both two stolen. This
says a lot about Tyshdomos; he appears
to be nothing more than one in the
never ending row of artists who
actually are able to come up with
rather good looking pictures - hell,
there's AGA, isn't it? - which in the
end is as boring as 90% of all other
scene pictures - just because of the
fact that the 'artist' very well could
have used a scanner instead and saved
some of his precious hours.
Though, Tyshdomos is not at all in a
total lack of talent. The fact that
the proportions in the pictures are
good doesn't say that much as he could
have used (and supposedly really did
use) grids to keep them OK. No, what
is more important is his choosing
rather bright and clear colours and
his rather good technique. However,
he's somewhat a victim of the
'plastic-phenomenon' (to be thoroughly
analyzed in Oepir Risti #5...) caused
by the 24-bit palette; colour
transitions are so smoothly carried
out that all materials tend too look
more or less plastic.
By the way, why use a motive such as
that of Tyshdomos' The Party IV
picture? Who can actually with
conviction tell that Michael Jackson
really has committed what he is
accused of. Crucibles (as Arthur
Miller calls these phenomena) are more
common than one might believe!
-------------------------Electron----

Among all the pictures you've drawn,
which you think is the best one and
why?

Among all the pictures you've draw, it
sounds like I've painted thousands and
thousands of pictures. Well, I think
"SMELL IT" is the better one, as it
looks deeper with all these wrinkles.
"RAPED" looks very flat and I don't
like Jackos eyes too. The only
negative point on "SMELL IT" is that
it's just a head. Maybe I will
repaint the picture (together with
Peggy and of course with Al's body).

--------------------------------------
He has a very perfect drawing style in
hires but still the motifs are in the
rather simple funny comic style, at
least the only two pictures I remember
- Al Bundy and Jackson. I'm looking
forward to see this graphician jump
into higher challenges beyond the
ordinary.
---------------------------Mount------

It seems as you mostly like to draw
ironic portraits, shall we see from
you only picture based on that kind of
subject or you have intention to
choose other motifs for your future
pics?

Right now I finished a picture by
Salvador Dali, so, more morbid than
ironic. But all in all I think there
will be more ironic pics or portraits
than other motifs. For sure I'll
never paint a fantasy picture (only
with a knife on my throat).

We never seen a logo from you, don't
you like to draw logos?

Right, you've never seen a logo
painted by me. Infact I learned
painting by painting logos for an AGOA
production called "Lycantropia". I
painted logos and the coder always
changed his plans, design and stuff
and I painted new logos (don't know
how many). "Lycantropia" was never
released and maybe the whole procedure
left some kind of trauma on me :(. To
cut a long story short, I never manage
to finish a logo. But I'm sure, one
day there will be a logo signed
"Tyshdomos/Abyss".

Is there a graphician with whom you
would like to draw a picture together?

I don't know how this should work, but
ofcourse it would be nice to have a
little slave, painting difficult parts
for you. If someone should be
interested, just contact me. Besides
this I would like to work together
with the men behind "Darkroom", a 40k
Intro released at the Assembly'94
(Dweezil and Strobo I think). If you
are interested ...

Is there a picture done from another
artist, that you'd liked having
pixelled?

Yes, it is called "Psychade", but I
don't know by whom because this
asshole didn't sign it (hi asshole,
you are always welcome to contact me
if you want). And ofcourse almost
anything by Cougar and a lot more.

The quest for artists -using scanners-
has always been an actuality in the
scene.
If you should necessarily choose a
name among these five artists,
regarding the eventual use of scanners
or other similar hardwares, who could
be the one that you think would
probably hide a handy scanner inside
his drawer?

FACET
FAIRFAX
RA
COUGAR
R.W.O.

Almost all of them are scanners.

Facet, because he is so incredible
fast (and nevertheless very good).
FairFAX, isn't a FAX almost a SCANNER
(bad joke, I know) Ra, because only a
scanner tryes to provide evidence for
not being a scanner by inventing a so
called "ANTI DIGIT MODE". Cougar,
just have a look at his pictures,
scanned, scanned, believe me,scanned,
why the hell don't you believe me,
scanned I tell you.
But not R.W.O. because I'm not
jealous of his work and jealousy is
the only reason for me to accuse a
graphician of being a scanner.

Always regarding those five artists,
just mention for each of them a
quality that they have and that you'll
be glad to 'stole' them.

FACET: his speed
FAIRFAX: I don't know him so well
RA: maybe his logos
COUGAR: his style, and ... just
          anything (no, not his logos)
R.W.O.: don't know, but what I sayed
          above was wrong, I'M JEALOUS
          (a bit)

Tell us the names of some past
graphicians that you admire and why.

I'm not deep enough in this scene to
know past graphicians. Well, maybe
UNO (is he past?). But I haven't seen
so much of his work, I only know that
he copyed "The Mystery of Wilhelm
Tell" by Salvador Dali, so, maybe I
admire him.

Tell us the names of some today
graphicians that you admire and why.

I think it's obvious that I hate
Cougar because he is so fucking great.
I think it's not necessary to explain
why I admire him, but it's necessary
to explain how someone can paint
pictures of such a quality. COUGAR IS
DOPED !!!!!!! And I think I'm also
able to explain Facet's incredible
working speed. He must be on
Amphetamin, no wonder, Flying
Dutchman.

Well, this is the end and it's not
polite of POSDNUOS not to ask me the
nice question "Do you want to say
something to end this interview?". So
I invent it. Do you want to say
something to end this interview?

Yes,I would like to get some Dutch
contacts for swapping some stoned
letters. If you are interested please
contact me and include your phone#
(100% answer).

Hallo to Agoa (especially Steel),
Fashion and Friendly/Static Bytes
(hallo Soenke Du Schneetelefon, tut
mir leid, dass ich auch Dir nicht mehr
geschrieben habe, vielleicht kommt
doch irgendwann noch ein Brief von mir
in Winsen an der Luhe an) and Eskimos.

Well, this should be the end of this
really nice interview and it's not
polite of TYSHDOMOS not to tell me the
usual final words " Thanks for the
interview! ". So I invent it.

Thanks for the interview!

Thanks to you man...:)
