The Gathering 1994 ·CRYPTOBURNERS - ·TO BE DISQUALIFIED? Should Cryptoburners demo at The Gathering '94 have been disqualified for not following the rules of the competition? By Wolfman "Brainstate In A Box" was according to many people, one of the most revolutionary demos released for a long time. The demo won the secondprize at The Gathering '94 and featured one of the most advanced landscape routines seen in a long time on the Amiga. Brainstate in a diskbox Many more people would without doubt agree that this demo is a masterpiece, that is: If they could see it! To watch the demo it's obligatoric to have MORE than extra 2 megs of RAM and a processor. Without this, the demo will only be able to gather dust in your diskbox. Also a 68030 processor would come in real handy if you actually want the demo to look NICE. It doesn't seems as if Cryptoburners wanted to hide anything, that is if you're looking at the fact that the disk with the demo includes a text-file telling what the demo needed to run properly. Why was it shown? The demo did however compete in the competition, and actually received the greatest applause during the competitions. But why did the organizers show the demo in the first place, when it didn't comply with the rules in the invitation? °ççççççççççççççççççççççççççççççççççççç® ×"Entries not working on the following× ×models and which does not comply with× ×the rules for this category will be× ×disqualified. × × × × Amiga 1200, Amiga 3000, × × Amiga 4000/030 and Amiga 4000/040" × þççççççççççççççççççççççççççççççççççççç± Needless to say that the competition was run on an Amiga 4000/030 and the demo therefore ran quite smoothly. Overlooked by the organizers Dr. Outtasight the actual main-organizer of The Gathering did not have anything to do with the competitions and was not able to comment on the matter. And it was not possible to get comments from any other organizers. Well, basically it seems that the organizers chose to "forget" the rules and let the Cryptoburners demo compete anyway. Tough luck for the ones that competed with demos that complied with the rules.
