THE PARTY III REPORT by Diesel/Razor 1911 Propaganda #3 was supposed to be released at The Party III, but since we didn't have the time to finish it on place, we had to go home to make it ready. Here is a party report from the absolutely party best ever! PLACE The place was Herning Messecenter, in the middle of Jylland in Denmark. It was a very neat and tidy place with halls that could fit far more than the 4000 guys that decided to show up this time. 1 big and 2 small halls were used for active freaking, but the rest(3 big halls) were opened too so that you could sleep without feeling like a chicken on a farm. The big hall was VERY big, I think that it was equal with the whole party II! A good thing was that there were no walls like the ones on party II, because you could see your friends no matter where in the hall you where standing. The two smaller halls were connected with the big hall with a short corridor and since the halls were sound-isolated you just had to make one step out in the corridor and the noise disappeared totally. Very good indeed. The main entrance was connected to the corridor, so you didn't have to go through the small halls to reach the big one(or vice versa). The active organizers were placed in the information at the entrance, and they answered all questions very kindly. FOOD There was one cafeteria opened 24 hours a day, where you could buy coffee, sandwiches, tea and so on for prices that were NOT human. A can of coffee cost 60 Dk and a small packet of juice 10 Dkr. One good thing was that the cafeteria was soundisolated and had quite many tables, so it was never full and never noisy. The sandwiches tasted great, by the way! If you went up the stairs just beside the cafeteria, you entered the restaurant that was opened from 9 AM to 9 PM. There you could buy pasta, hamburgers, pizza and so on for quite nice prices. A BIG plus for the professional restaurant! There were also a kiosk just outside the entrance and one in the corridor, so where ever you went you could buy cola, icecream or sandwiches. One bad thing was that you couldn't buy anything else than cola or juice if you were thirsty, so you easily got bored. Then you had to walk about one kilometre to reach a Shell-station where you could buy beer, milk and cheaper juice. There was also a Grill just beside the station. HYGIEN and SLEEPING This was the very BEST party so far when it comes to the hygien. There were 20 showers(even though they just had warm water the first day...) and the toilets were well spread all over the place. There were also some kind of toilet deluxe outside the entrance one floor below. Both the showers and the toilets were cleaned daily and very nice indeed. There were always toilet paper available and even soap!! When it comes to sleeping, the facilities were very good too. The sleeping halls were really big and the temperature was not too low. PARTY-FEELING Almost 4000 people showed up(I'm not sure about the figure, but that is what one organizer told me. Some said lower, 2800, and some said 5000(!)). These people included all known 'elite'-guys so if you wanted to talk with your idols(if any) this was the right place. But even though the presence of people, the whole party felt a little bit 'calm' with an ambience that could have been better. But that's maybe imagination. Alcohol was not allowed inside the party, and all beers discovered were confiscated. That didn't stop people from getting drunk, not at all, but it kept the most irritating people outside and that's a perfect thing. The only teams that lightened up and really had a nice time without alcohol were Razor and Essence. Maybe there were others too, but I didn't notice. Okay, both Razor and Essence were drunk some hours, but that didn't show because they were totally flipped out even wihout it. A big thanks to ½WOTW/Essence and ½Some1/Razor 1911 for making this party a little bit more fun! SCREEN and SOUND There were actually two screens. The big screen was placed in the big hall and had an amazing quality. It couldn't have been better. The smaller screen, that was placed in one of the smaller halls, was bigger than most other parties and had slightly lower quality but very good anyway. The sound was not as good as the screen; if they played loud the sound had a very low quality, and if they played low, you couldn't hear anything. COMPETITIONS Competitions are really important on parties, and a good musiccompetition is a sign of a good organising-staff. That's why I and most of the other party-attenders got surprised by the lousy handling of this musiccompetition, since the general organising otherwise was really good. The jury received 350 contributions, and rumours say that they didn't even listen at all of them. I have a hard time believing it, but the choice of played songs were really strange. 30 songs were played, and the general opinion is that only 5 or 6 were good. At least 20 were techno, 5 were hard rock and 5 funk. That is really a pity, because musicians like Jogeir of Virtual Dreams, Lizardking of Razor 1911, Strobo of Stellar and Vinnie of Spaceballs were not played at all! Read the special article! A very good thing was that they didn't print who had made the song on the screen; I think that that's a fair thing to do! A bad thing about the musiccompetition was that the volume was changed from song to song; sometimes you could hardly here anything at all, sometimes you'd to protect your ears! Worth to be noticed is that Heatbeat competed with 8 modules even if he was not present. The graphics-competition was the best ever. Many pictures were just amazing! Even though at least 6 or 7 held a superb class, two of them got almost twice as much votes as the others. I feel sorry for Suny/Movement that missed the top position by 4(!!) points! The 40Kb intro-competition was easily won by Tsunami/Virtual Dreams who had made an amazing intro with a 160 Kb song, fullscreen rotating, fractal zoom and so on. I slept during the competition, so I'm sorry that I can't give you any more details. The democompetition, then. Well, it was kind of a disappointent, like last years compo. There were very few trackmos and there were only 4 really good. There were far too many unserious intros and file-demos that could as well have been deleted as shown on the screen. A golden example was the melon-demo that didn't even contain a joke. Crap! The 4 good demos were made by Complex, Virtual Dreams, Sanity and Spaceballs, and they were really nice indeed. Complex' demo was the only that gave you an 'aha'-feeling, and the texture-mapping was really nice. Spaceballs competed with '9 fingers', i.e. State of the Art 2. It was just State of the art but with 3d graphics instead of 2d. Really nice, but it just reached the 4:th place this time. They got 3000 Dk(300 Gbp) for it, which is a very nice prize for such a place. Genghis/Complex won and got 50% of 3500$ and an A4000. I think he was quite happy when going home... Worth noticing is that most of the demos were AGA, which is not surpising. A1200 is coming on strong(but Razor 1911 will keep doing A500 demos!) The 'fast' competitions were held during the second day. The competitors had 4 hours to make what they should do in the different compos. There were a Fast-intro compo, a fast 'remix' compo(where you should remix a song) and a fast 'clip' compo. The D.C.S. intro was quite nice considering the short time, and it deserved the first spot. The fast 'remix' compo only had 3 competitors so I left that one out. Graphics competition (50 contributions shown) 1. Cougar/Sanity(AGA) 624 pts "Dragonsun" 2. Suny/Movement 620 pts "Estelle.Pic" 3. Devilstar/Silents 536 pts "Not a copy" Music Competition (30 contributions played) 1. Moby/Sanity 1284 pts "Elektrik funk" 2. Sid & Chorus/Razor 1911 632 pts "Hideaway blues" 3. Feyd & Arios/Delight 392 pts "Blow up" Demo competition (28 contributions) 1. Complex(AGA) 2340 pts "Origin" 2. Virtual Dreams(AGA) 1860 pts "Full moon" 3. Sanity 1592 pts "Arte" 4. Spaceballs "9 Fingers" 1512 pts Intro Competition (20 contributions) 1.Virtual Dreams 2832 pts "Chaos land" 2.Essence 712 pts "D" 3.Dreamdealers 692 pts "Toyzareus" Fast intro (4 contributions) 1.D.C.S. 1160 "True stress 2" 2.TRSI/COMPLEX 772 "???" 3.Raccoon 584 pts "The happy ones" Fast clip (6 contributions) 1.Tukan 296 pts 2.Coffein 268 pts 3.TBM/Limited Edition 112 pts ORGANIZING Generally, it was a hell of a organizing-team. They acted quickly and dared throwing people out. There were always organizers when you needed them and the cleaning-people did a splendid job. The only BIG thing they missed was the musiccompetition. I really don't know WHO organized it, because I don't think any of the LEMON/SPACEBALLS/SILENTS teams did... OVERALL This was the best party ever, with no doubt. Everyone was there, and everyone was happy(except the forgotten musicians in the musiccompo!). There were NO racism on banners or in intros. You could shower(in ice..) whenever you liked, you could visit the toilet without being afraid of a nasty disease. You could eat real food and if you didn't want to, you could eat fake food too in form of sandwiches and so on. So if you missed this party, you have missed a real hit! I don't think that ANY party will be this big again, if not Party IV becomes reality. Party grade(1-10): 10
