² THE SILENTS - RED SECTOR INC.
     AMIGA CONFERENCE 1990
----------------------------------

¹The prestigious organizer's names of this conference promised the perspective of a great party. It was held in Glostrup (Denmark) in a big hall with a gymnasium to sleep in. Also there was a swimming-pool and as the weather was quite hot (the second day!). It was nice to enjoy the water!
The conference started at 15:00 the 29 of june 1990. Many people arrived. We could expect more but better quality than quantity! This is true there were about 450-550 people around among them were the best groups. Let's list some of them:
RSI, TSL, Defjam, Fairlight, Dexion, Oracle, Kefrens, Flash Production, Crionics, Prologic, Paradox, Cycron, Cytax, Brain Wave, Cinefex Design, Hypnosis, Scoopex, Crusaders, Direct, Magic, Powerdrive, Acme, Bloodsuckers, Supplex, Triumph, Arcane, Amaze, Q-branch, Legion, Classic... ...Sorry I cant' remember them all.
The Conference was quite a legal. No great games were released. The programmer of UNREAL was present and was waiting RSI to crack his game! ...but they didn't cracked it! So, only a few games were copied.
The main purpose of this conference was the demo competition and meeting your contacts! The bloodsuckers guys were dead-drunk and boozing around ...You can't imagine how sicky are Hoffi, SCY and Communist of Bloodsuckers! It is incredible! In the same idea, Slayer of Scoopex was dead-drunk like some other cool guys. Boozing & coding were absolutely ruling in this party! The guys of Flash Production were really coding like hell! Although others guys were drinking like hell!
The great majority of the stuffs released at this conference were legal stuff! For example: CJ special issue II, Crusaders Eurochart July 90 with new great featuring (Hi bustman and lazerbrain! Carlsberg rules!). Also there were an utilitie called Bootshop released by Brain Wave and so on... Of course demos have been released. So, let's come on to the climax of the party: the demo competition.
A quite giant screen with mega speakers was showing the demo. Competitors were: Budbrain Design, Scoopex, Crionics, Q-branch, Synergy, Silents Sweden, Kefrens, Flash Production, Upfront, Phenomena (not present). and Treacl, a quite unknown group which manage to release a cool megademo. There was even a Basic-demo!... The Paradox demo was great but the organizers of the party said that it was a game preview... Here are the results of the demo-competition:
First price: Budbrain Design Megademo... It is really a great one! Even if it was a little surprise for some guys.
Number two: Crionics Megademo
Number three: Silents Multipart Demo.
Number four: Flash Prod.
Number five: Upfront.

During the party there were also some fighting. The more noticeable was certainly Rastan of Fairlight fighting with Zelnick/Oracle. Rastan took him by his T-shirt and told him to say that he was a lamer!
Rastan: "Say it, you are a lamer!"
Zelnick: "Yes, yes, I'm a lamer!"
Rastan: "Shout it! ...this was
             only the first part!"
...and so on...
The event was filmed with a camera... good idea.
What we can regret is the poor number of stuff released there and maybe the hard way to sleep the second day coz the room was closed in order to install the giant screen in it! So I only slept two hours the day before driving home by car! (More than 17hours of car!).
There was only one video working... that was just bad.
But if we consider the whole party, we can say without doubt that it was one of the best this year!
