=- Eclipse `92 Party Report! -=

OK guys,Polaris/Eclipse here typing a party report for my friends Head,Zink-
floid,Pazza and any other good magazine editors or writers who wanted a party
report! Most of you guys will have heard of the Eclipse Copy-Party in Dublin,
the FIRST scene party in Ireland believe it or not! Well its just finished now
and I`ve returned home to write about 5 reports for various cool zines, and if
you didn`t show up then you missed one helluva pardey!!! I showed up late (as
usual!) and arrived at the extremely posh Royal Dublin Hotel, for all the rich
and famous people, its probably the best + most expensive hotel in Ireland, so
we felt that it was fitting that this should be the venue of Irelands first 
scene get together, after all money was not our concern, just enough to cover
our costs, fun should always be the most important thing at any pardeys!

Anyway I was walking to the O` Connell room when I heard this crazy techno/rave
music being pumped all over the hotel, I then knew that this was where our
party was taking place! So I followed the music and arrived at the room, I`d
already seen the room a few weeks before, and then I thought it was big, but
when I arrived there tonight I thought that it was BIG!! There were about 70
active scene dudes there (many old faces which I`d known a long time b4) and
the general mood was pretty good, a bit too quiet if not for the cool techno
music though, at the moment people were mostly chatting and copying new wares,
downloaded by myself,Gazzer,Jay and Green Beret. I had some 0 day old wares to
spread like Premiere and other crap, but as I`d arrived 2 hours late everyone
had the stuff already!

Gazzer`s brother Carl was on the door and assumed a threatening stance when I
approached!! Anyway as I was recognised as an Eclipse member by others I was
let in, it was indeed looking good, but still too boring, and I was not in the
mood to party and meet dudes, so, yes I decided that it was time for some beer!
I asked the waitress (Tracy) for a pint of HARP LAGER and relieved Carl at the
door (well I didn`t actually RELIEVE him perv, but you know what I mean!).
So there I sat gulping down beer for a while until....I got slightly pissed!!
I was only a little merry,but there would be more beer later, now I began to 
act a little strange and decided to meet some cool guys at the party!

Lets see,there were about  20 amigas there, so it was cool, I didn`t get
any wares copyed for myself but I don`t think any guys had problems getting
served! The room was also cool for power sockets, it must have had about 50
power sockets! The waiter service was mega-cool bcoz you could get beer brought
to ya without having to go to the bar! Anyway meeting people is what parties
are all about for me!

Some cool groups there were:

Cubic Design (dickheadz except 4 Tekknoid the musician!)
Eclipse (ALL members present!)
Exodus
MDMA    
Quadriga

So almost ALL of the Irish scene decided to show up and have one helluva get-
together! Arc/Eclipse spray-painted a huge Eclipse `92 banner and tied it up
to the wall, unfortunately he made the mistake of leaving the spray canz lying
around and, yes you guessed it! I decided to go up and spray my name on the
banner!!! OK so I went behind the banner and sprayed POLARIS `92 on the banner
in big black letters, then other cool guys like Spooky/MDMA and Joker/MDMA 
decided to follow my example, so soon there was 3 crazy dudes spraying wierd
stuff all over the banner, also a very funny thing that happened was that I
was spraying with the black paint and was a little drunk, Spooky got a bit too
close and WHAM!!! I sprayed black paint all over his T-Shirt and myself for 
that matter!! But Spooky was cool so he 4gave me with that one!

Okay, so now I was covered in spray paint and the crowd was having a little
laugh at the mad antics with the banner, it loosened everyone up a great deal
and people began to relax, chat and njoi the party. Tracy (the waitress) gave
me yet another pint of HARP LAGER and I decided to try chatting her up (I think
everyone at the party did, there were no other females there, Tracy was pretty
cute, and I know for a FACT that Gazzer/Eclipse also tried the chat up!!) so I
talked to her for a while and drank some more, but Tracy didn`t wanna have sex
with me and I was passing out....Gazzer got further than me with her, but was
shot down when he offered to buy her a drink! Anyway, walking began to get
difficult so I thought it was time to go to McDonalds and eat off my drunken
condition. Ahhh much better, now I can see properly!

At the party there was a PC user dressed completely in black, with a black hat
and a pentagram badge! Cool eh? But he was a bit of a moan and kept asking for
PC wares which we hadn`t got bcoz almost all of us were not active on the PC!
The techno music was being played through 2 huge mega-speakers using all kinds
of strange sound equipment, which I couldn`t begin to explain, just lotsa 
buttons and switches, some cool equalisers too! The sound from this demon 
machine was fucking brilliant! I talked 2 the DJ guy who brought all the cool
sound equipment with him, he sadly owned a PC, but also had an Amiga which he
used for sounds, his name was Tim (Mr. Wonderful on scene) and he was a very
sound dude, I spent ages talking to him and at the end of the night I could
use his cool sound system. With Tim was a guy called Rolly (I think!?!) who 
was also a cool guy and is a local DJ for Rock 104 FM and gave out cool greets
to Eclipse the morning b4 the party! 

Green-Beret made some crazy announcements on the PA system for a while and 
the fun started to overflow, it REALLY started to get cool at about 4pm.
I then met a mail contact of mine called Axl from the Irish group Exodus,
he explained that the group drove to Dublin for the party for 3 1/2 hours,
and on the way they were stopped by cops for speeding! 20 mph over the limit
dudes! Yeah! Anyway Axl was a really cool guy and he brought Master Of Puppets
by Metallica to the party to give to me! (g8 tape dude!).

Well enuff crap I thought, after a lotta work the music competition was ready
to rip the shit outta the party, vote forms were spread around and people began
to get excited (nothin` like some participation to get guys going!) and an
Amiga was linked to our cool sound system by Timbo and the mods were let loose!
I was pleasantly suprised by the amount of entries to this compo, it wasn`t 
just a shitty 4 entry thing like lotsa guys thought, it had about 12 entries!

The first module was Ice Blue Messiah by Creed/Eclipse, a fuckin` masterpiece
I thought, like lotsa other guys. Then came a module by Joker/MDMA, and it was
pretty fucking awe worthy as well, both guys so far went for a rave/techno mod
as expected, then Tekknoid (a cool guy and highly skilled musician) played his
entries, the first was a brilliantly heavy hardcore techno piece and another
was a fucking brilliant Thrash Metal style module, something which is not often
tried on the Amiga and I gave a 10 for originality, I loved Tekknoids mods, I
loved all the modules, and it was obvious that the music was of a VERY high
standard! Then 2 more entries by BOD and Punisher wrapped up the music comps,
and I have the results right here:

1st Place : Punisher/Independant (methinks!)
2nd Place : Creed/Eclipse
3rd Place : Joker/MDMA

Some disappointed guys there, but I felt that all the musicians had a lot to
be proud of with their cool work, but only 1 winner guys! So cash prizes were
given to 1st and 2nd place and their music should appear on an Eclipse Party
Music Disk, look out for that one on BBS` everywhere, bcoz the music is most
definately worth getting! Parties don`t occur very often in Ireland so the
guys were working very hard to put forward their best stuff! Gr8 to see this
happening, it reincarnates my once dead faith in the Irish scene, if we could
all work out our differences guys, we could have a much cooler scene!

After a lotta play Highlander won the Kickoff competition and won himdself a
nice prize, nice going Highlander, even with a fucked up foot eh??? But I won`t
tell everyone about you standing on a fucking needle m8!!!

Now it was time for the Graphics compo, organised by yours truly! Not as many
entries as with the muzak comp, but still enuff, and with a cool quality to
`em! These pictures will also appear on the music/party disk by Eclipse so get
it by writing to me! Its pretty difficult to explain what each picture was,and
its now 2 fuckin` AM so I`ll just give you the 2 winners of this!

1st Place : Axel/Eclipse
2nd Place : Dionysis/Eclipse

Yep these guys are actually twins, and are equally cool at GFX, best in the
country without a doubt! Axel drew a brilliant picture of a woman/godess kinda
thing, the detail here was fuckin` amazing, you could see the ripples in her
silken garments....you could see her nipples under the silk.....
Whoops, better start listenin` to Metallica again!
Dionysis drew a breath-taking picture of an eagle, great detail and use of 
colours in this one, in short these two piccies are fucking amazing, the
guys watching the comp actually kinda drew a deep breath when these two pic-
tures were shown, they loved `em!

Now the crappest compo of the party was the coding comp, only 2 fucking entries
in this, but to be honest they were 2 very good entries! There was only four
points in deciding the winner, so here`s the results....

1st Place : Quadriga - Coder=Hazard
2nd Place : MDMA     - Coder=Joker

OK then, overall it was a cool success and a brilliant party, better than most
European pardeys, although much less support and entries, but we`re used to
that shit over here and try to fight against the odds and have a scene!
A lot of guys had a go on Green Beret`s cool video camera and we got a long
video of the various stages in the party! If you want the video then please
write to me and I`ll try to send it off to ya, please enclose a good video 
tape, the video only runs for about 70-80 minutes, but its fun!
Well final thoughts of the party...great fun,the next bash will be even cooler
so hone your skills guys, also we got very little support from UK and Northern
Ireland, c`mon guys, you don`t live a million miles away, a small boat ride and
you would have been here, try a little harder next time dudes, bcoz you missed
some mega-fun! Thanks to all guys who showed up and supported the Irish scene!
