  INTERVIEW WITH THE NEW EUROCHART
------------------------------------
The NEW Eurochart will be released
at the Hurricane party in Denmark.
RAW talked a bit with the main
editor of the NEW Eurochart,
Estrup/Static Bytes, to hear which
thoughts he had about it!

---

Why did you continue the Eurochart?
Are you so fond of counting votes?

I guess we missed the Eurochart like
everybody (?) else, and as it, at
that time, didn't seem like some
other group would take over the
charts, we decided to try to
continue this legend.

You sent a letter to the Eurochart
staff? Got no answer, because
Crusaders was too lazy to write
back. Don't you think, that
Crusaders could handle this
situation a lot better?

I wouldn't say, they were lazy. I
imagine, that they got letters like
ours from several other groups, and
a bit of time to decide is always
OK. Well, maybe it took them a
little too long to let us know!

Since Kefrens are more known than
Static Bytes, will Static Bytes do
all the work and Kefrens get all the
fame?

Well, at this point, I'd like to
make a little "statement": The New
Kefrens have decided to back out of
the Eurochart-production. They
decided, that it wasn't such a good
idea after all (maybe they disliked
the fact, that then people couldn't
vote for them anymore?), but let me
make it perfectly clear, that there
are no hostilities whatsoever
between Static Bytes and The New
Kefrens, so don't start drawing
"war"- conclusions from this.
Furthermore, I'd like to say, that
this will NOT delay the release of
issue 15. Issue 15 will, as
planned, be released at the
Hurricane party in Samso, Denmark,
in the end of June. Considering
this, I think your question is
irrelevant...

Will your Eurochart be better than
the previous one?

What a question? Do you want me to
write: YES, it'll be 10 times
better??? We'll do our very best,
so just wait and judge for
yourselves.

Will you change Eurochart? Or just
copy the old Standard Eurochart set?

The first issue will be VERY much
like issue 14, only the categories
are changed a bit: "Best intro
group" is gone, and "Best Utility"
is back. The reason for this is,
that today it's impossible to decide
what's an intro and what's a demo
(not to mention dentros, mintros
etc.!), and we think, that "Best
Utility" is a very relevant chart.
In later issues, we might change the
design a bit, but we'll see about
that. Also, I'd like to see the
news-section just a bit sorted, e.g.
in group/handle-changes,
release-news, hardware-news. I
think, most news-sections today are
a total mess.

In opposite to Crusaders, you have
competitors? What do you think of

a) Nordic Scene Report?

A lot of work seem to be behind this
chart. In general, I think it's
nice (especially the picture of the

drunk Norwegian girl in issue 2. If
anybody has got her number, PLEASE
let me know!) This is definitely a
mag worth watching out for in the
future.

b) World Chart?

I've only seen one issue of this,
and a very long time ago. It was
just a nice picture with some text
on top of it. Not very nice, I
think, but perhaps they've improved
it later on, I never saw more
issues.

                     < Flip Page >
Do you think ANY chart will be a
REAL threat to the almighty
Eurochart?

"Threat"? Of course The Official
Eurochart has had a special status
in the scene, but I think, that
calling other charts "threats" is
strange. There's room for everyone
here, right?

Crusaders released 15 issues, will
Kefrens/Static Bytes also release 15
issues?

Static Bytes will continue releasing
The Official Eurochart as long as
there's enough people voting, and
thereby showing their support and
interest.

Do you think, that only Eurochart
should exist, because then ONE chart
will get all the votes, or do you
want several competing charts?

Well, as there's no rule saying,
that you can't vote in both The
Official Eurochart and e.g. Nordic
Scene Report, I don't think, that
other charts will keep people from
voting in The Offical Eurochart.
Thus, the number of votes, we
recieve, doesn't depend too much on
the number of other charts released.
On the other hand, I think, that if
only Eurochart existed, the
producers (us) would "get stuck"
instead of constantly trying to
improve it. So, I guess I'd like at
least SOME other charts to exist.

Would you use your own musicians or
will you "hire" other musicians to
do the music for Eurochart?

What the F... do you mean? I
actually consider that a little
insult. Why would we need that?
The music for the Eurochart will of
course be done by our very own
Cutcreator.

Now you can tell all, who want to
vote for the Eurochart again, what
to do:

Well, to vote using SnailMail
("Normal Mail" among friends!), just
write down your votes on one of our
votesheets, one of the old
votesheets, or any piece of paper,
and send it to:

 Eurochart HQ, Tornevangsvej 5 B,
 3460 Birkeroed, DENMARK.

You can also send your votes as
e-mail (InterNet) to:
dsestr@hp1.cbs.dk As "in the old
days", you're also welcome to send
us news, pictures and anything, you
think is of interest to the scene.
I'd like to thank all the people
who've already written to us with
votes, news etc. Just keep it
coming. And, of course, also a BIG
thank to Lord Helmet/PMC for this
interview. I wish you the best of
luck with your great mag. (Thanks
