INTERVIEW WITH PARADROID OF ANARCHY By Pazza of LSD Q: Please introduce yourself A: My real name is Barry Irvine, age 18 and I live in a town called Ellesmere Port which is about 15 miles south of Liverpool. My current group is Anarchy, which I joined about 3 weeks before this party. Q: Give us your scene history. A: I will keep this as short as possible, here's a list of what groups I have been in and what I did: The Watchmen - Swapper/Artist Technotronics - I left after 2 days Illusions UK - Swapper/Coder/Artist Crack - Coder/Artist Flash Prod - Coder/Artist Razor 1911 - Coder/Artist Digital - Coder/Artist Anarchy - Coder/Artist Q: Why did you leave Digital for Anarchy. A: I didn't actually leave Digital to join Anarchy, I left them because the way the group was being run. When I first joined Digital last year I asked for 1 picture and after 4 months I still didn't have it. I also didn't think that a lot of the members we had should have been in Digital, I phoned up Number 5 about this and he told me that he had kicked out a lot of guys, when he told me who they were I didn't agree with him and so I decided to leave. I decided to stay independent for a while but after a visit to Core Design to see Dan, Nuke and Rush, I decided to join Anarchy as they could offer me the GFX and Music I needed... Q: We are here at the Quartz party, what do you think of it so far? A: At the start it was a bit boring but once more people turned up things started to get better. I would say its one of the better party's that have been held in the UK, and the some of the competitions such as the disk throwing were very original. Q: How long did it take you to put your winning demo "Deja vu" together? A: I started this demo about 4 weeks ago, it was only meant to be a small vector preview but I got a bit carried away, it had been over six months since I last released something so I thought this party was my chance to show off some of my code. Q: What assembler do you use and why? A: ASM-ONE - This was very useful for doing the demo as it has all the tracking functions I needed, it saves going from util to util. I would buy the original but I soon hope to get a PC with Snasm instead... Q: If you could write you're own epitaph, what would it be? A: Paradroid - Was the fucking best! Q: which groups, musicians, artists and coders do you rate? A: GROUPS - Phenomena, Digital, Kefrens, Andromeda, Melon Design. MUSICIANS - Mr Man, Static, Nuke, Moby. CODERS - Buddha, Azatoth, Laxity. ARTISTS - Facet, Mithrander, PGCS. Q: Now your demo's released, what's your next project? A: My next demo will be called DMA- DREAM, it will be very original compared to Deja-Vu and will be based around demos such as HardWired, Odyssey, SOS etc. I hope to get this done in time for the Digital Party later this year but that is being optimistic... Q: How can u be contacted? A: I only like very experienced coders to write to me for swapping algorithms, ideas and demos. I DON'T WANT SOURCE CODE. If you want the same write to this address; Barry Irvine 21 Flint Court Ellesmere Port South Wirral L65-9DS England Q: We have to cut this interview short to take Mub to hospital, so any final words? A: I must say a big hello to Majic Mushroom/Quartz for giving me inspiration and support over the phone on long nights of coding. Also a big thanks to the rest of Quartz for organising such a great party, Pazza/LSD for this interview, that's all folks, see yah later. end.
