The Gathering 1998 by Browallia

Getting to Norway was a bit harder as we
expected, since the only partybus we could
found started from north of Sweden, a
province called Dalarna. I and our new
musician dIS whent up to a house there,
which we rent over the night before the
Gathering. The bustrip then was long but
         somehow enj0yable. enough said!

At the Gathering, a great Wiking-ship with
an incredible amount of Amiga groups for
these days.We nailed our banner in a corner
of the arena and unpacked our computers and
couldnt complain to our neighbours
Chauple/Contraz, TBL and some others I dont
remember. Altruist and Musli (Tulou) werent
far away from us aswell and were going to
release a 4k intro entitled 'Monday'.

If you hadnt got enough taste of noodles,
TG98 was sponsored by mr.Lee's noodles
where you could get the party tshirt in
Japanese fashion too.
If there was any other more
official party Tshirt I didnt see any. For
a change,I had some ravioli with me aswell.
and thanks to a swiss army knife we had
made some forks for us in nonames floppys.

During the party we constantly worked with
the 2part demo 'Nostalgica'. The first part
was finished already before leaving for
Gathering. Sadly our work was in vain with
the second part and Balders PNA-format
(packed nukleus animations) was never in
use.
Anyhow, back to Demo deadline when we
handled over our contribution and could
relax... we thought! I had forgot to clean
up the code for the second part so the demo
had an gigantic size of 500 k instead of
330. I did'nt had a clue about how Balder
had implemented the music routine (and coz
of the time pressure) in the 2nd part I did
a nasty trick, we just put a tiny module
only taking a few kilobytes. So with other
words, if you start 'Nostalgica' and hear a
strange module on a black screen, now you
know the reason!

When showing the demos, our entry was right
after Mellow Chips 'Rise'. Huh! Going from
a demo coded over a year, to our done over
the weekend. So after the price cermony I
guess we were laughing our asses off when
reaching 3rd place.

After all deadlines,we surely had one more
triumphcard in our pockets. We released our
platformer Game entitled 'FFFF' at the gath
and invited Duckhunter of Spaceballs to try
it. He sure liked it and you better try it
out as well!

At the bustrip we talked about new ideas
and great plans. But all the inspiration
when away - just as usual after some
intensive days starring at the screen.
