Mekka & Symposium Party Report

The Journey To Germany

   We started our little trip from Budapest, on thursday night. The bustrip was cancelled, so some guys decided to go by car. In the end two cars went on their way. The first car was a supersmall Suzuki Swift with Lord and Nemechek/Kangooroo, Chip/TFF and Teo/Kangooroo. The other care was a Corsa with Unreal/Kangooroo, and Poko, Detox and Ratman all of CJ. The meeting point was at a gas station, where we had to wait an hour and a half for the other car. After checking everything, and smoking some cigarettes (I really do hate non-smoking cars hehe) we were ready to go. The trip took about 13 to 14 hours, and my ass hurted when I finally got out of the car in Fallingbostel. We were ready to party.. 

Inside Ms'2k.. 

   Two hungarian guys (Gabryel/CJ, and Tomcat/GRM) arrived early, and they already reserved some places for our machines and stuff. It was easy to find them since they had a hungarian flag there. Later on D-lee/Haujobb arrived as well, he came with his daddy. The weather was fine so we went outdoor to have some beer. There was a very slow and unreliable network connection, so we were afraid that we won't get our intros (Exceed for pc, Kangooroo for amiga) in time, but thank god, and some linux guy sitting next to us, we were able to download the Exceed intro somehow.

   Time to get some drinks.. I mixed some gin&tonic and walked around in the partyhall. First I met some danish guys Darkhawk, IB, Curtcool, Cytron, and some others and filled out their Eurochart votesheet. It was really good to see so much amiga-sceners at the same time. IB showed me his compopicture which I really liked a lot. After some heavy boozing I finally found my danish mates from IRC: Nic0 and Booster! We went outside to the cars to have some more beers as far as I can remember. :] They later went to McDonald's with Vention's Porsche. It was really great to meet a scene legend like Vention (ex-Kefrens, Polka B.) and also Chaos (ex-Sanity).

Nothing Else Matters..

   The danish sceners are real cool guys and can drink almost so much as Hungarians ;-) Psycho and Blueberry were nonstop working on the Loonies demo and I found it really nice when they showed me some parts of it. It's a really great demo I must admit. Booster had to fix some parts in the music, I don't know how he was able to do it when drinking all the time.. I've found D-lee outside boozing with the Haujobb guys, XXX had his car's back with full of beers (gut und billig:). Also the Finnish guys arrived via plane, but they were only drinking outside during the whole party (except for Kure maybe).

   I also met my german mate Cyclone, who wasn't able remember me on the other day, maybe he had too much beer or something, hehe. Later I tried to sleep at the desk (I had no space for a sleeping-bag, because my backpack was full of beers, so I only had my small pillow with me). Finally I was sleeping under the table, and was woke up after some hours because some guys wanted to put their computers there. Computer parties are not for sleeping anyway.

   D-lee and me went to the Calodox guys to have some coffee (thanks Fred), and to test the Exceed intro. I had an idea for making a small intro there so started to collect some gfx. Fred did a nice Kangooroo logo in 20 minutes, IB made some kewl patterns for us, and Laika gave me some objects. The time was too short, so we couldn't finish anything before the deadline, but maybe we'll do it someday. Later I went out to the car to start boozing again. Just like yesterday I teamed up with the danes (Nic0, Booster, Bitfrost, Farfar and others) and also met the nice norwegian guys from Ephidrena (Loaderror, Zixaq and Frequent). They came with a Volvo which they rented from the company "Rent-A-Wreck". Also Isaac and Strife from Norway were at Mekka.

The Compo's and Saterday Night..

   Ephidrena made a really cool 4k and 64k intro. We went inside to watch the amiga intro compos. Sadly some polish assholes were shouting during the compos, except for their intro. They even showed their middle fingers into the video-projector. Hey, you assholes think you're really cool, or what? Better stay at home or learn how to behave...  

   There was also an intro from our beloved coder Nemechek for his polish group Whelpz, which deserved better placement I think. I also liked the intro from Optima/FD (Ego). And the EPH one ofcourse. I can't recall the timetable anymore but i think the pc 64k's were also shown on saturday. Our intro was a real success, too bad that the makers (Picard, Stephen, Shaman, Warpig) couldn't be there and watch how the audince liked their work. After that I was boozing outside with Booster, Nic0 and Truff, and we ate some Hanutas aswell. I can't remember very much from the saturday nigth fever, all I have in my memory is that I've spoken a lot with Zixaq, later I met Jazz and after that I was sitting on the toilet (btw. real clean bathrooms!). And the next thing was that I woke up at our desk in the morning. Strange..

Sunday: The End Is Near..

   On sunday happened not very much, I ran out of alcohol, so went with Lord to a gas-station and bought some beers, and continued boozing. Booster and Nic0 had approx. 70 0.5l beers in their car which was enough for one day only or so :) We watched the amiga-demo-compo in the evening, the Loonies demo was really impressive on the big-screen, but also nice demo from Mankind and RNO. Anyway I've never seen so many amiga demos at the same party. I was sleeping during the pc-demos, but there was a horrible one I can remember. Some Freddy Krueger like guy killed a family, or something like that. On monday there was the prizegiving ceremony, we were really happy about the first place. Before going home I've found some beer under our desk (I think it belonged to the Polka B. guys but they left already, so thanks), and drunk a last bottle with Booster. Skoooool! :-]

Back to Hungary...

   Our trip back was a 12 hour long sleep for me, so finally we've got somehow. All in all, it was my best party ever, and I hope I can go there next year aswell. I probably left out something, but I can't clearly remember anymore.

   I met also some nice spanish guys, namely Wavemaker, Drareg and Skid. I hope that someday I can visit the Euskal party in Spain... Tere was also a nice barbecue outside (Haujobb ofcourse), and Chromag was running outside dressed like a mummy. His socks were stinking awful anyway :) As far as I can remember, I also met an organizer from Evoke. (D-lee majd ird be a nevet esetleg, amugy o is joarc kategoria). Ok, time to end my report.. Be on Mekka Symposium next year!
