Interview With Zinko

"We are just a lazy bunch having fun and thats what it should all be about, pure fun!" - Zinko.

Darkus:
Firstly, we`d like to know who the man is behind the handle Zinko?

Zinko:
Oh well I'm a 25 year old guy from Denmark, here I run my bbs better know as The Northern Palace. In my normal day life I'm a carpenter running a rather big company here in Dk.

Darkus:
When did you begin your career in this strange place we called amiga scene?
Zinko:
I started out as one of the pioneers, way back in '85. I still remember getting my very first Amiga, had to drive to Copenhagen and buy it straight from the importer since no one else sold them here in Denmark! Before that I spend time on various other machines from '80 until ยด85.

Darkus:
Since being there from the beginning, do you still have motivation to carry on far into this new millenium?

Zinko:
Yeah as for now I'm into it, and as long as I have fun with it I will still stick around. If it wouldn`t have been for the fun and many good friends I would never have stuck around so long I recon!

Darkus:
Your mainly affiliated with such groups as TRSi, Polka Brothers, Kefrens & Melon. Quite an awesome list of legends. Can we expect to see any Amiga productions from any of these groups?

Zinko:
Yes as a mather of fact you can, TRSi kicked out an Amiga crack as late as the 31.3.00 and for Melon I released an intro not very long ago either! And there are more things on the drawing board concerning demos, so just be on the lookout. Legends never die! :) We are just a lazy bunch having fun and thats what it should all be about pure fun!

Darkus:
Digging a little deeper, whats the situation with Melon? Is there plans for much activity? I`m sure the scene would welcome anything "Melon" with arms wide open!

Zinko:
Well Melon was always different somehow, and we had a great success with it which we are very proud about, and of course there will be more out from us when we have the time. Seen and I spend quite a lot of time together and we talk a lot about new ideas all the time, furthermore you can find the Melon label on a lot of posters for big events around Copenhagen. So you can say we tag as many places as possible, just like our French brothers do in web/commerce. A Secret, there are new things in the pipeline I just can`t tell you any release dates for these things yet as we are all very busy in real life too.

Darkus:
So you have just announced Melon are planning something for the future, could you be more specific? Will we see demos and intros?

Zinko:
Now you are getting curious ehh :) Well there will be intros which we are mainly known for and further more we are working on other secret plans so you just have to sit tight and wait for the surprises to come!

Darkus:
Well, I can guarantee the whole scene is now waiting! Still on the subject of Melon, which names are still more or less active within the team?

Zinko:
I'd have to answer none and all on that one! No one left now will they but as we are all working on other things too in real life the Melonstrations come in second spot for us, but as long as we have fun producing them we'll keep on doing so.

Darkus:
Changing the interview direction back towards you, whats your thoughts on the "Amiga warez scene" of today? Since we know you have had much experience within this area tell us what you believe.

Zinko:
As you know I'm a sysop and I have to admit it`s not really that good no more. When we look at the Amiga side of things, the good old days are gone no matter what people say and act like. I will still state that the Inet killed the spirit, but still I ain`t quitting. Since this is my hobby and as long as there are more people than me who likes it. It will keep on going, though the real spirit is resting in the old days.

Darkus:
After speaking with various editors, they claim I`m not to take you seriously with regards to the Melon issues. Do you know why people would say such a thing about you?

Zinko:
I don`t know and I really don`t care either we do what we do for fun, and what other people think of it is their problem. It`s all about having fun and we sure do have fun! People talk the same shit about TRSi and we still kick ass. And let this be a big hello to all my brothers out there!

Darkus:
Judging by that response, would I be right in claiming your an over arogant scener?

Zinko:
No not at all, I have been in this scene so long now and I respect all people who still stick around here very much, but when people talk shit about others I can`t really show them respect, and furthermore they must be having a problem in their head if they think they know more about us than we do. What arogance is there in that if I may ask? I party with all people as I told you several times it`s about having fun.

Darkus:
You said "people talk the same shit about TRSi, and we still kick ass!" I can imagine people understanding that as arogant sounding. Wouldn`t you agree? Especially considering I personally don`t see TRSi kicking anyones ass.

Zinko:
This is getting kinda boring, are you out on me attacking people instead or something? This is kinda lame you know. Kinda bores me interviews should be about the person and not focus on their group.

Darkus:
Which is exactly what I`m doing. I`m using your group to get results from you.

Zinko:
Na forget it just scrap it, bores me too much like this all I see you wanting infos about everything but the person. Sucks, scrap it. If I want soap I can watch TV.

Darkus:
An interview doesn`t have to based on one person, it`s quite normal an interview can be carried out with the aim of finding out about other topics. For example I might interview Astro about R.A.W. I don`t have to interview Astro and only write about Astro.

Zinko:
I don`t care just forget it and erase it, as I said this ain`t a soap opera this is something people should do for fun and out of fun. And I don`t want to see this printed.

Darkus:
Whats the problem with it being printed? You don`t have to read it.

Zinko:
I said no, you brought it in a perspective that we are supposed to be a bunch of arrogant assholes.

Darkus:
No, I asked you about arogancy, and you replied with an arogant answer then changed into defensive mode.

Zinko:
This seems more like you are interested in all others opinion than ours.

Darkus:
Not true, I just wanted to know your opinion about other peoples.

Zinko:
I didn`t spend nearly 20 years for talking shit about people, this is all about fun.

Darkus:
The interview ended here, with Zinko later mailing me attempting to persude me not to publish this.
