         DIGITAL PARTY REPORT

           By PARASITE/LSD.

For those of you who where hibernating
during September and October, Digital
organised a one day party held on
05/10/91, called THE MAIN EVENT. This
is my report of our day.

All LSD members who where going to the
party arrived at my house on the day
before, along with some friends of
ours. After swapping some warez (X-
bloody-copy) we showed each other our
releases, "NUKE! 1.4a", "Grapevine
Megamix", "The Triple Breasted Whore
Of Eroticon Six", "Despair" and "The
Party Report".

Nuke was finished, Grapevine Megamix
needed a bit of polishing, the music
disk was 99%, the Party report demo
needed some small work on the vectors
(and of course the digitised pictures)
and ORCRIST had told me by phone that
DESPAIR would be ready on the day.

  Everything was going according to
plan, no LSD members had died that
day, no source had crashed, none of
  our cars had proved unroadworthy,
everyone had arrived, this was gonna
  be kewl!

That night we had very little to rush
about for so we took it easy, watched
some video's, had a couple of J's, had
  some beer and loadsa PIZZA!

Next morning we woke up in reasonable
time, still everything was going to
  plan, this could not be.
Our illusions of running like
clockwork where soon shattered when
AMB arrived without MUB and asked us
if we knew where he was, he had to
make a return journey to Scunthorpe to
find him, while we set off to
Rotherham for the party.

We all arrived about 10.10am AMB had
found MUB who had overslept but we
where all here now. Handing our
tickets over to a Digital guy on the
door we entered the sports-hall saying
hi to Cosy on the way in. Shock,
Horror, Oh-No a lot of other Amiga
crews had arrived before us, there was
no space for our four machines.

After searching the stage we found
some tables and with the help of some
Digital guys we set them up. Then
disaster struck, Shagratts hard drive
was dead, it gave no response
  whatsoever on any Amiga.

After treating Shagratt for shock we
had to re-think our releases as all
  sources where on hard-drive.
  Grapevine Megamix was shelved (it
should be out at the beginning of
November), Shagratt managed to hack a
  preview version of "The Triple
  Breasted Whore Of Eroticon Six"
musicdisk using an old logo by
  Watchman, and old scrolltexts.
Luckily we also found a version of the
new NUKE! viruskiller which we only
had to type docs for to release.

Fish, our new artist had airbrushed a
couple of large LSD logos which we
stuck on the wall above us incase any
guys wanted to find us, we passed
round some tins of beer we brought
with us and chatted between ourselves.

Then Orcrist arrived along with Mole
of Anarchy, and showed us his finished
demo, "Despair" which impressed us
all. A few coders from other crews
came over and asked us if it was to be
entered in the demo competition, when
we told them it was they decided to
withdraw theirs which I thought was a
bit silly, but it was up to them.

The morning then went well, more LSD
members arriving including Pod and
Wizoid. I met a lot of my contacts
and tried to chat with them all, but
as I know so many guys I said very
little to most of them.

I met Opus/Tristar who always manages
to arrive at parties both drunk and
without any cash (I can't fault the
guy!), who asked me as always "Got any
beer?", and after a few more drinks he
fell asleep on the stage, for a
picture of this see our party report
  demo!

There where not many releases on the
day, most "party releases" seemed to
be released a few days after.

The Kick Off competition seemed to
  take preferance to the demo/music/
  graphics competitions, which was a
shame as I thought these more
  important.

  Then the competition results where
  announced. Announced? we thought, but
they haven't collected our entries. It
turns out that Digital went to every
group and collected their entries to
  the graphics/music competitions EXCEPT
LSD! I didn't make a fuss about this,
and there are no hard feelings as
mistakes do occur, but a lot of hard
work has gone to waste. Perhaps next
time a collection point should be set
up and groups should be responsible to
hand their work in!

The results are;

DEMO
1) LSD
2) PLAGUE
3) TECNIK

REALTIME DEMO
1) PARADROID/Razor 1911
2) DAN/Anarchy
3) 30 Minute Demo/by ???
4) ???/Sepultura

  GRAPHICS
  1) KREST/Anarchy
  2) FAST EDDIE/Archaos
  3) LYNX/Rebels

  KICK OFF
  1) Tripwire/Equinox
  2) ??? (Sorry!)
  3) Wizoid/LSD

  MUSIC
  1) COSMOS/Anarchy
  2) NUKE/Anarchy
  3) NZO/Equinox

Then came the fun event that any idiot
could enter, the group tug-of-war. We
collected together a team of six fat
  bastards, Monty Python, Pod, Spirit,
  Wizoid, Tornado/Agile and myself.
  We won!
The party then started to wind down,
it was 7.00pm and some guys had a long
way to travel home. We packed our
stuff up, said goodbye to old and new
friends, and congradulated "Number
Five" (Digitals boss) on an excellant
party.

Watchman/LSD and a couple of friends
asked for a lift to my place for the
night as there was no train to
Birmingham till Sunday afternoon. So
we squeezed everyone into the cars and
back to my place.

We arrived home about 10.00pm, and
eleven of us sat down in my living
room to watch "Terminator 2" on video
(thanks to Wizoid), then a cry from
the back of the room "I WANNA PIZZA".
We had a quick wip-round and raised
£45.00 which was just enough for
eleven pizza's. AMB went down to our
local pizza place and gave them the
order, to which we got the reply,
"It'll take an hour". An hour later
AMB returned for the pizzas, and
staggered out the shop with eleven
pizzas, with the crys of "Greedy
  Bastard" from hungry customers.

In the aftermath of our large meal,
even the dog and cat had trouble
  finishing it off!

Our "Party Report" demo was supposed
to be released on the day after the
  party, but Maximans hard-drive crashed
during saving his source, thanks to a
faulty power plug, and he had to go
back to an old version which had to be
  re-coded. It was released midweek
  instead!

The Main Event was the best party I
have been to, I am told the next
Digital party will be a two day event,
I look forward to it with
anticipation. Each person will have a
differant story to tell about the day,
a hell of a lot happened, maybe this
isn't the best party report, but this
is my story of what happened to me!

Well done to all Digital members who
took part in arranging the party, and
making it a great day, and to all LSD
guys who did well in the competitions!

End.
