Christine De La Queen Of Spoon Interviewed By Zerox/Gods ZX = * And CDLQ = * This interview is with the most famous girl in the scene. She has been inter- viewed by a few other diskmags like The Jungle, Abnormalia and even asked a few questions concerning the Patsy affair in Compass, which DISC actually first wrote about a few years ago. Well, until now I think she has only gotten boring questions or questions she does not want to answer. Maybe she doesn't agree, but in my opinion it's time that someone asked her about something interresting, BUT unfortuna- tley I'm not the one that can come up with original questions. So she had to settle with my weird questions for now Anyway, here's what Christine has to say about herself: I am the old crooked lady living far up north in a little place called Denmark. I am having a ball together with my group SPOON, whom I am trying hard to lead in the most positive dir- ection. Graphics is a considerable part of my scene life - I simply love to draw! Living life dangerously by writing articles (hello Pearl!) is also something that I care about. Not that I like to live dangerously, but sometimes it seems like it, because you really have to value your words or else you are playing hangman with your -self (like Pearl!). I also swap regu- larly. I love to receive mail! Else I am managing Sound, a very special music disc! As this introduction wasn't boring, I wanted to start mangling Christine's Mind. Therefore I asked her why she chose the handle Christine De La Queen and if she was a queen in the real life or if this just a subcon- cious wish. Now dead DISC reader, this is Christine's reply: The reason why I chose Christine De La Queen as a handle was actually because I didn`t want a handle!!! Yes, it is true! I wanted to be called Christine in the scene. I tried hard to spread the words, but after a while I had to realise that it didn`t help nothing - The scene guys were still asking for my handle!! Christine De La Queen is actually a self made fun handle that I once made to end letters in an amusing way. I then thought it was great fun to smear Danish, English and French together in one bowl. And Christine De La Queen is actually the outcome of this mess. This handle is so overwhelming stupid, but brilliant in its own way, so to make fun of the handle affair I chose Christine De La Queen. Anyway - it rhymes in English. Actually, I don`t think I am Queen material at all. I wouldn`t like to be one either. Just consider all the things you have to do, because you were born this or that... That ain`t what I call freedom! I sometimes feel sorry for the Royals. They can`t do crazy stuff without it ending in the newspaper the next day! Royal life must really suck sometimes. Nevertheless I am proud of the Danish Royal Family! That`s presumably how far it can get, when it comes to my handle... So she really doesn't want to have a handle, eh? Interesting story anyway. But even more interesting it will get, if Christine can tell us why green fish are bigger than red fish? And if so, why? Big as well as small - With our Spoon we catch `em all! ??? I really thought I would confuse her with that question, but now I'm a bit confused myself. Why can she tell us that green fish are always bigger than red ones? Because it is a fact, isn't it? Christine seems to disagree. She wrote this as a reply: It's surely not a fact! Give me proof and I will eat my oldest shoe! Proof I can give her... if she takes with her oldest shoes to the next computer event (Gathering?), then I will bring with me both green and red fish, and she can see for herself. Well... now I'll give you a short series of questions and answers: As you in addition to being an article -writer also are a swapper, wha t do you like the most to receive through mail? - What's this? Was my question too stupid or too obvious to be answered or what? Hmm... I think it is too obvious! I am in fact as normal as all the other guys. The other day, I received a letter from a fairly new contact, saying that he didn`t believe I was a female swapper... He probably was so sure that I was pulling his leg, and that I probably was a guy after all! I send and wish for the same productions as everyone else! Err... after that answer I really want -ed to know what's the most useless thing Christine has learned from the scene. She stated the following: I don`t know really... I would like to say that I dislike the way some scene guys treat scene girls. But hey, read my article about this subject in one of the forthcoming Rom mags. The guys are in for a big treat in this direc- tion. I won`t reveal my point of view YET! She doesn't want to reveal her point of view yet??? She can't hide anything from the DISC readers. And by the way, maybe I just have to censor that last commercial for ROM anyway, he he...And as a punishment, I at least had to give Christine another hard question to answer. So I asked Christine this question: As a woman, do you have any special feelings towards whales? No, not at all. I don`t have any fav- ourite animal at all.I am sadly enough not a nature freak! Maybe because Denmark doesn`t offer varied nature (except Bornholm maybe), like the nature you capture other places. Even though I am not a nature freak, there are still some places I would like to see or visit. When it comes to animals, I would like to settle for an ordinary cat or dog! By the way if you skip my commercial, I`ll send you 200 copies of Benny Jørgensens best tapes of music from 1968! Ahhhhh.... that one hurt! I can't bare the thought of receiving those tapes, so I had to allow some ROM commercial in DISC this time, even if I liked it or not. But I of course continued my punishment campaign by asking the rather rude question; "What would you like the other sceners to think of you, and do you think they actually do that?". Here's what Chris had to say about that: Some years ago, I would probably had written - I don`t give a shit what people think of me. I still believe this term, but not as heavily any more To not care what people think of you, makes you an ignorent fool!! Making changes is a positive progress! I do not know what people think of me. It is a very tough question for both partners, since none of us really do know each other. The only scene person that really does know me is my brother B-Toven, and I am probably also the only one who really knows him!(he-he!) Anyway, ofcourse I hope they like me as well as like them! The somewhat absurd thing that I was discussing with Slurry of Black Fishy at TP4 is that there is really a huge difference in writing long letters to each other for many years, and then meeting the person for the first time. A few guys has surprised me this year at The Party. Positively ofcourse... That was of course interesting to know and especially the last part. I'll come back to that in a while, but first I want to introduce YOU to a brand new way of making interviews. Yes, I have now collected some opin- ions from Christine's oldest contacts and friends, just to check out what they think about her, so now sit back in your chair and read on!!! Here are the questions I asked Shayera/Spoon, Core/Disaster, Chris/Gods and last but not least, Napoleon/Dreamdealers: 1. What do you think that Christine would like you to think of her? 2. What does Christine mean for you/ what is she for you? Both questions are quite rude, but who cares anyway? Shayera/Spoon: 1. I think Christine wants us to think of her as an efficient organizer and a skilled graphician. 2. Well apart from the obvious with her being one of the only girls in the scene, I think of her as a good friend and a good motivator/boss. Chris/Gods: 1. The Truth 2. My first female contact & a very friendly one and as I think you know what the word means for you & for me, I won't explain that to you. Napoleon/Dreamdealers: 1. Hm, it's some kind of a hard question. Anyway, I think she needs friendship all over the world. 2. She's one of my coolest friends, I always take care about her opinions, so we're often writing very long letters. We can talk about every topic Maybe, because she's a girl, I get more attention with her. Core/Disaster: 1. That she's a good friend, with whom you can write long'n' friendly letters about almost everything, that's she's a person one can have fun with and have some nice chats with, when being at parties, etc. 2. Well, a great deal since she was my first "real" contact and, until apx. a month ago also the only female contact I had. She's a nice person, because you can discuss personal problems with her without her making fun of you. Another of her qualities is, that no matter how busy she is, she always writes long letters. A big credit to her for that. Yep, that was quite nice... now also Christine knows what her contacts do think of her. Anyway, it's time to find out what Christine ment with her last statement. It was good to hear that we boys/men ain't that bad after all... here's what Christine wrote about that: No comments! He! There is nothing bad about the scene guys, well... Maybe there is for...about 99 percent of the scene guys!! No! As DISC got some unjustified criticism last time, I wanted Christines opinion about that as well, in addition to get to know her true opinion about DISC. In advance I of course made her aware of the fact that I, as a main-editor, feel free to censor her opinions if they were wrong... You can yourself try to find out if I used my rights, he he he... Whether the criticism of DISC is unjus -tified or not,is really the question! The criticism of DISC was a bit too rude I think. Starting a mag is not easy. I know because starting Sound ain`t easy either!! And if the mag al- ready had a good reputation, it can give even more problems. The articles were a bit too old, and since articles are alpha omega in a disc mag, it is ofcourse important to make a mag as fresh and lively as possible! I am sure that DISC will have a great future, now when a new structure as design, code and a new staff has be- come reality. From now on, it can only become a great mag! You readers probably thought that I would settle with such an answer, but NO! I had to put some thing straight, so here is what I had to tell Chris: "WHAT??? Are you asking questions now? I'm the interviewer! I can tell you that the criticism of DISC was unjust- ified! But I guess most people had too high expectations for DISC.They really believed we would make a comeback at the top of the charts at once, but when they saw the first new issue they got a bit disappointed, which I think they should be allowed to be. Because I do admit that the last issue of DISC wasn't really the DISC name worthy, but as you can see for yourself now, this time DISC is back stronger than ever!! By the way, you are allowed to repeat your two last words about DISC many times through out this interview, he he... ". Christine fast replied: Great Mag! Get down of your high horse Zerox, there is simply no need for such behaviour.... Just think of the ugly gadgets you got this time... Not to name the awfull search feature, that you guys had put together. Or the article written by CDLQ....ups! As Christine is the queen, I couldn't write more about that. Instead I asked her a new question: "As stated above, you have become quite famous because of your article-writing. You write for a few diskmags reguarly as The Charts and ROM, so what makes a diskmag worthy of your support?" Actually I don`t know. I am usually asked to write an article for a certain mag, so in this way I get my jobs. For more support, I will make certain it is because of my articles and not because of the person I am! Sometimes I am bold enough to ask directly why they really want my support and the reason must be true. Mop has been given this question for example. Not that he liked it, but he definitely did answer the question. Anyway, I don`t write articles for people I dislike! The reason why I stick to The Chart and Rom is most certainly because of the people behind the mags and surely because I like the production. The best chart is The Chart by Ram Jam, and the best maga- zine is ROM - That is my opinion! There she goes again with these ROM advertisements. But what can I do? Benny Jørgensen tapes? No way!!! I of- course asked Christine what she had to say in her defence? And as for the charts, what does she think about the improved Eurocharts? Great Mag! I mean ROM ofcourse! What is Eurochart? Surely I like the new features in Eurochart! The new features is really a great invention. But I think Estrup leaves the mag part in a real bad state. Both in code and in the amount and quality of articles! Both the chart part and the mag part is quality in The Chart! Ha ha ha, I can't say more.. but I did ask Christine if she had noticed any longterm damage from being a swapper, but as you can see, she didn't bother to answer... - And then I asked her if she didn't want to answer this one. And she answered: Nop! Afterwards I asked Christine "How important would you say your best scene friends are in keeping you from leaving the scene? And who are they?" Christine replied: Who are my scene friends? Spoon members! Else I would like to keep that as a secret... Could they keep me from leaving the scene? If they knew my move, before I actually did perform it, they might have some luck, but I am not too sure... It depends on the circumstances of leaving the scene, I think... I've been trying hard to get some sec- ret information about Chris' personal life, but all her friends seem to keep their mouth shut. So it seems that they are very loyal or that she has chosen not to hand over much about her private life. Anyway, some told me that she is real demanding, but also a bit shy. I'll not even mention her bad temper, he he... So what was the ques- tion then? Simple, what does she have to say about that?:) Never heard of it before! Well,I don`t believe of a person being both shy and real demanding on the same time. You can either be shy OR demanding! A shy person doesn`t know how to be demanding. When would a shy person start being demanding and to whom if the person is shy?! Anyway, when a real shy person stops being shy, this person has big chances of being demanding later on in his/her life. Am I confusing??! While a demanding person never would turn shy ever... Am I demanding and shy? As for the secrets of my private life, I am sure I am one of the most ordinary somebody I can`t think of anything that would really shock anyone.. As for the bad temper, it was something I mentioned in fun, just before you went to fetch this interview for me at TP4!! I have no bad temper at all! I am sorry - I was playing with your mind! After this punch in the face, I had to keep on my mask and reply: "Ha ha ha.. never heard about it before? Do I really have to publish my sources? Anyway, it was quite an interresting theory! As for being demanding... only a few of your friends will know this, can you think of who? And as for shy.. well...as you answered earlier in this interview... people can be different when they actually meet their scene friends and write letters to them. Anyway, it was two of your friends that had different opinions about you. Ok, so you mangled my mind and made a fool out of me. I'll get you for that one.... eh? Of course I can't publish this interview after that. Anyway... I'll really test if you got a bad temper at the next party, he he...". But Christine of course understood my game (eh? Pain?), and answered some- thing like this: OK! You are playing tough, I`ll play tough as well! I am not shy... Some- times when I talk to a person, that I have nothing in common with, or I have found out that I have nothing in common with, I kinda lay low. If there is a person that I don`t want to talk to, and he/she is expecting that I will come to his or her table at a party, I would presumably not come! Why? Because that`s the asshole I am! I try hard to be nice to everyone, but it's really hard figuring out what to say to a person that really doesn`t mean a damn shit to you! There you got it, and I already feel terrible bad!! I was once very shy, but after a year in highschool in USA, I got rid of this once and for all! It is really a great way to grow up, by living in another country for a longer period. You're totally responsible for your self! If you want action, you gotta invent it yourself - You gotta talk to people in that country no matter how lousy your English is! No matter what, you will be introduced to so many people, that your shyness soon will be forgotten. I also want to dedicate this text to all the guys who really are very shy! Go a year abroad! It will definitely turn out as the greatest experience ever - You will learn so many new things about you and the people sur- rounded you! If Danes have been thinking about going to the USA, and they have any kind of questions towards a stay in USA, they can call me! I will help you in any way possible! As I understood that we, I, her, us, were getting a bit emotionally involved right here, I smoothly lead the interview over in a nicer atmosphere, and asked Christine: "What 3 words would decribe your team Spoon best?" And she replied: "Togetherness, Productivity, and FUN!" Yes, now we were getting back on track so to speak, but to continue the harmonic feeling, I said:" You are the editor of Sound, so can you please tell the DISC readers a few words about the future releases of that special music disk and other Spoon productions? I've heard something about a secret demo project...". Well, first of all we are going to release Sound #2 (S2) in March. It has been delayed due to projects at TP4. Sorry to all the guys whom have been awaiting this production! Sound is a music disk with changed features for each issue. The stimulating and interesting part is that sceners are competing in creating the best possi- ble module under 8O K, whereas no parts may sound like chip music! A limitation that makes even the great- est musicians turn blue in their faces! To get the rules - Get hold of a copy of Sound! ...or write to me! S2 will get released under a lable called; "The Ultimate Funk Issue", whereas ten of the greatest numbers I have received have been collected in one great bowl. Everyone is welcome to participate, and if you are into TRANCE music, then maybe you should send your 8OK (unpacked) music for Sound #3! But do get hold of the rules first! S2 will contain support from the Polka Brothers, and Braintumour & Heywood of Stone Arts just to name a few...Thanks to you guys by the way!!!! Oups... so Sound is already released? It was probably out before this inter- view got finished. Hm... let us think of something nicer though, yes, lets continue this huge interview, by saying:" 80 K is really not much. Have you ever gotten a module of that size from any competition? I can tell you that it's quite difficult to make good music with the exact samples you need under 80.000 bytes. So isn't it an idea to maybe have less modules on Sound or make Sound on two disks to even improve the quality of the music even more?". That would ruin the concept! The concept was build on the 80K modules! A strange, but cool atmosphere, buildt of these secondary samples. Actually only a few Sound Surfers masters this 80 K feature to it's uttermost. Like for example; Subsonic of Disaster and Jukebox of Talent, just to name a few! To get away from those commercials, I just asked Christine if she could tell us about her daily life, and not leaving out any details. But she seems to have overlooked my question... - And there I had to tell her: " Now I'm pretty sure you got something to hide. I really should have gotten info from B-Toven about this. Anyway, that question ain't that rude? In addition to that I bet I would get a few more readers for DISC if you answered it, he he... So???". She said: Frode - Din lille bambus jæger! Du har fandmer travlt Hvar`!?! Jeg har simpelthen ingen kommentarer! Then I should ask "Que?", but didn't.. Instead I continued my rough line with another question in the same style. I simply asked: " Do you think us superior men dominate the scene? And are we superior at it?". It was infact no surprise at all that she actually didn't bother to answer that question. - BUT I had to get some answers and even more readers for DISC, yes, I always think of you dear reader. I want to give you the latest digital informa- tion and all the secrets of the scene, so this is what I told Christine: "Aarrrgh...another question you dropp- ed. But this time I can understand why You just won't admit the facts?? Ha ha ha... I told you I would have a rev- enge for you playing with my mind, he he..." She continued as nothing had happened by saying:"You can`t live without `em, and you can`t shoot `em!" Well, violence and hate??? I asked her another question concerning some developments at the scene. I simply asked Christine why she hates spandi- merda. I found out that she disliked it by reading her latest interviews. Anyway, here's what she had to say about that topic: I can`t neglect that I dislike the Spandimerda that Macno tries to lay upon every worthy shoulder. "If there is any", he proclaims... As he thinks those of us who don`t think of his articles as being funny, really don`t know much English! It is not so much the Spandimerda abnormality that I dislike, but the whole fundamental in Macno`s Scenology world. I am happy to say, that I am definitely not the only one in the scene that thinks the same as I! The thing that really worries me is how Macno can manipulate all Main Editors (even Mop) to press his nonsense every time he asks!! Frankly, I would be impressed if I didn`t find one of Macno`s Scenology articles in this mag. By the way, don`t get me wrong.... I have nothing against Macno as a person (I think), we are getting along very fine!!! There is simply nothing to hide, Macno knows what I think of his material! To this I just had to reply:"Don't underestimate DISC... I don't think we have any articles written by Macno about his Scenology study. Infact Macno writes quite good English and articles, so who can stop him from supporting a mag with his articles? You can't blame Mop or any of the other main-editors for including such articles in their diskmags. Remember.. we all need support, he he... Another thing, you wrote that you didn't have anything against Macno as a person. But how is this possible if you dis- like what he writes very much???" I didn't think she liked that question but at least she answered: When I receive one of his legendary letters, I never find scenology tones in these. Macno seems like a very nice person, that's at least what I have gathered out of the letters sent to me But he is a bad chess player...(In the 8th move Macno!) My next question out was: What's most exciting about being a article writer? Being an article write is not a task, it shouldn`t be! I write in my own tempo, therefor there ain`t loads of articles from me every single month. I have free hands to write anything I like - relevant to the scene ofcourse! If someone were to push, asking for 2O articles per month, I would soon quit writing. I think it is exciting writ- ing a piece. I think it is cool that you as person actually can get your opinions trough to the sceners. It is just fun! I can`t really explain it, other than it is a thrill to write! Now it's time for another series of short questions and answers: Well... where are your 20 articles for DISC anyway? Just kidding... I'll give you another question instead. WHY are you? Why am I what? Err... was also this question to rude? I thought it would be a perfect chance to talk about sex in a subtile way.. a bit hidden. You know... sex as a head- line usually makes many people want to read the article. And by letting you anwer this one, I was sure to get success for DISC. Well... what's there to say? About what Frode? Is there a question you don't want to be asked? And if so, answer it! - This question I really demand an answer!!! How do you think it feels to not get all my quesions answered? Ok, you'll have it your way, as you don't get much money out of answering these questions anyway... But I can`t figure out anything to ask my self my dear Sherlock Holmes!!!!!!! What should I ask my self? When do I get my period? Or if I eat fastfood? Or what color eyes my last boyfriend had, or why a red flower is bigger than a green. etc! Hm... the last thing you mentioned would be interesting to get to know, but I'll rather ask Christine another one of my b..... questions now: Are there some subjects that we should not write about in your opinion? I can`t think of any, but I would like to see more daily life articles in various mags! I thought the political sum-up articles that some sceners wrote for a long time ago, in regard to get other sceners attention to his or her own country was actually mag- nificent! You see so much from the media, but what does a real normal person think about the happenings? We have a great media where we can ex- change our thoughts and get real inside information, that maybe the media forgets... I think you got right about this... but I guess another diskmag has to include those articles you are talking about that. DISC is mainly concentrat- ing on scene releated articles. Actually we are one of a very few diskmags that concentrate on this these days. The rest seem to have only a few articles about the scene - and the rest about subjects you can find in any other normal paper magazine. It's much harder to get scene releated articles for a mag than others. What do you think about all this? zZzzz - Sorry...:) Ok, ok ok... I'll try to end this huge interview/conversation soon, and also try not to speak so much. Infact it's time for a question that should wake you up... " Are you for or against abortion, and why? Eh? This is a question you have never ever gotten before nor will get again, he he... Since it is the woman who has to carry around the baby and even give birth, I think it is the woman`s choice only! And since men ain`t likely to take absence from work to nurse the baby the first very important period of this little life, then when the heck can a man decide when a woman must have the baby. This debate is truly stormy, especially in the USA, whereas 5O percent of the adult population think abortion should be an illegal matter in the future. I am for abortion, I want the right to choose myself! Else both parents should agree to have a baby!!! I never thought Christine would answer that question, but she did: GREAT! Now for the last question I asked her before the brainstorming part: "Do you believe in God(s)?" Tricky... No comments! Ok I'll let her get away with that no comments answer for this time. Here's instead some brainstorming... PC 486DX2 Life Great Friends Video Fried Green Tomatoes School Books Pollution Oil War Forest Gump Monty Python Brian! 1995 New Year Party Friendship Real Life! Fashion Red Shoes! Coca-cola The Dentist Pain -killers Love Rotten State... Fun Legoland Drugs BEERS?! Hope & Glory Vote-Sheets Pain Mickey Mouse Legend Interviews FUN!!!:> After that some of my last words to Christine were "It was nice of you to spend time on answering these ques- tions: Thanks! Now you can write what- ever you want Christine..." It was great fun :> answering all these questions! It was also great talking to you at The Party! Gee, you are actually normal! Bravo! Greetings to Shayera and Slurry for giving me a HEAVY cold! I was sick on New Years Eve! (Not that it held me from party- ing, tho`). Anyway greetings to all guys I met at The Party - It was great fun talking to you all (Even Pearl, who FULly lived up to his reputation)! This is actually the first interview where I comment on the last words, but ME - normal??? Execute me for interfering, but you asked! ZEROX IS NOT NORMAL! He is a disguised air-wolf in yellow rain boots at full moon, ofcourse! Another thing, it would be interesting to hear about your new year party too, he he... And what's this about Pearl of Passion? Those are my last words... I'll leave the keys for you Christine for the last time too now! What`s a New Year party? So you wanna hear about my New Year party? I hardly think th... Maybe in another issue! And who is pearl?
