   (3d) - 3D Addict

 (Made) - Made/Bomb

3d - You are among the best scene
graphicians, and have bean it for a
while. Tell me a little bit about
yourself.

Made - Let's present myself : my
"real" name is Carlos, i'm 20 year old
(01/24/77, for happy birthday wishes &
presents:), i live in Paris and i'm
studying Fine arts & working for brand
new game company. I'm involved in one
more racing game...My interests are
movies, painting, drinking with
friends , raytracing and smoking...Na!
Life is too goood!

3d - He, he :)) Ok, what was your
first computer, how and when did you
become involved in the scene and when
did you start drawing?

Made - I got my first computer in
1987, it was an Amstrad CPC6128, a
really cool 8bit engine. After some
months i created with a friend my
first group & diskmag called Disc
Full, it was my first "scene"
experience. I enjoyed coding & doing
gfx on CPC,(my first drawing program
was a self coded program who put dots
and line in the screen), but i had to
choose between art and code. I found
my unique & lovely old nickname Made
in 1987, but it's another long and
indescriptible story... In 1991 i
bought my first 16bit computer, the
Amiga500. It was the must for a
graphician like me to have so many
colors and resolutions to work; fastly
i get in contact with some guys in the
scene and joined HMD (Hemoiroid) and
done some graphics for TCP demo packs.
After some months i joined SCOOPEX and
worked most of the time with a great
friend, Ninja. We signed lot of
productions under SCX label during few
years. I continued supporting Amiga
forces buying an A1200 some years
after. Gengis asked me to join the
BOMB staff, it was a pleasure to work
with him, we worked also in FEARS, my
first experience in a game project.
In 1994, i started doing some things
on PC with some friends, but i
seriously worked on PC demos in the
begining of 1996 with Impact.

3d - What hardware/software do you use
now and where do you get the
inspiration from?

Made - I have an Amiga1200 and a P180,
i still use the great DeluxePaint 4 on
Amiga and Cloanto PPaint for some
Palette retouching. But i'm always
looking and trying new tools, like
Photoshop, TVPaint... My inspiration?
Like all graphicians i think, in every
things of the life.

3d - Lazur uses almost all of his free
time on making gfx on his amiga. How
many hours a day do you spend in front
of your amiga, and how many of those
hours are used on making gfx?

Made - All the time i spent in front
of a computer is for drawing or
surfing on the Net. I'm not
interested in doing something else on
a computer, like playing...Despite the
fact i draw most of the time on paper
or computer, i don't draw more than 2
or 3 hours a day on my computer, exept
befor exeptional events like parties
or demos deadlines. I can't draw to
much time on the same thing, i quickly
get borred.

3d - I know from my own experience
that it can take days and often weeks
to draw a good picture. How long does
it take to draw a good picture for
you, and what are the most important
aspects of making a great image? Also
how long did it take you to draw
Eden377?

Made - I can't say you exactly how
much time I take to do a piture, it's
always a new experience to do one. It
can be few days, if it's easy or if
i'm very motivated or it can be
months, for a big picture. The most
important aspects of making a great
image for me is to have a perfect copy
of the begining idea I had on my mind
in the finished picture. I can spend
hours, days on few pixels. I take
more than one month to do EDEN377,
that i finished in hurry, like most of
the time before a party!

3d - What do you find the most
difficult to draw, and which phase of
your drawing do you enjoy
most.Personally I like mostly making
the finishing touches when the image
is about 95% complete.

Made - The most difficult for me are
two things : Hairs and colors, i
spend most of the time that I take to
do a pic correcting hair antialiases,
splines and mixing my palette. I
really enjoy doing the sketch of a
picture, just drawing the initial
ideas on the picture.

3d - Which of your own images do you
consider as the best one and which was
the most difficult to draw?

Made - My favorites are Animal reign,
Eden377 and SureShot. The most
difficult to draw was unhesitatingly
SureShot! It tooke me about 2 months
of very hard work, I started this
picture in summer 1996 (the left
part), and finished it in the
beggining of 1997.

3d - Being an active scener for some
time now, you must have seen a lot of
pics made by other graphicians.Who is
your favourite graphician and why?

Made - My favorite, and technical
master is RA; He has an unique and
unbeliveable style, a perfect
technique and wonderful colors. It's
a pitty that he stopped doing pictures
nowdays. But, to be honest, I must
say that UNO, HOF, JOACHIM and
ELECTRON are one of the best
graphicians of the scene, I love them!

3d - There is a new slideshow coming,
called ARTCORE II, and it's packed
with some of the finest gfx made by
you. When is it going to be released?

Made - We are designing it at this
time...For this second issue of
ArtCORE I invited great graphicians of
the demoscene, like DANNY, DESTOP,
ELECTRON, TITAN and GELMIR to join me
in the art gallery. I hope it'll be
ready for September on Amiga and PC.

3d - What do you think about
raytracing?

Made - I try to take some times to
learn more and more in 3ds. I use
this tool for 3 years now, it's for
that reason that you could have seen
modelised 3d objects by me in the main
parts of Explora and Shian Lee.

3d - What do you think about
redrawing?

Made - Redrawing is a choice, a little
bit of scene graphicians have taken
the choice to don't redraw pictures!
I respect them, it take lot of time to
have an original idea and put it in
pixels in a picture. Those last
times, I used to compose pictures with
various sources (like personal photos,
paintings, magazine photos). I try to
mix all those images to have a final
picture that exacly fit with my
original idea and style, not very
easy, but more original than simples
copy.

3d - Any future party plans?Will you
be at Assembly'97, Saturne'97, or
other parties?

Made - I'll surely go to the Wired97,
BOMB is in the organizers list, I must
be there! The Assembly seems to be a
great party, but it's too far for me,
mum don't want... And for the others
parties, I have no idea now.

3d - Thanks for the interview, and
best of all in your future plans as a
graphician. :)

Made - Thanx pal!
