³¼Iris NYC 92 Party¼ ¹On 27th and 28 th of December 1991 there was a party held in Nesles la Vallee, by Iris. We decided to go there for having a great time with all other alcoholics that we know from there or from hell. We took the train at 7.00 am and started a 8 hours train travel. What a pity to live so far from Paris. As we arrived in Paris we had to travel one more hour by train to reach the party place (please Chris of Iris next time organize it in a bigger town). When we arrived in Nesles we phoned to the party place for a car to take us there. We went around for a few minutes as a car came. What a nice surprise it was a..... girl who went to take us up. After driving for 15 minutes we even reached the place. We entered is (of course we were there for it or not) and had a little chat with Chris the organizer. There were 2 halls. The small one was there for a professionnal expo and for some freaks who wanted to participate to the Gfx competition. We decided to enter the big hall and there we just discovered about 300 guys smashing there keyboards like fools. We, as the organizers were surprised by the number of people who showed up. In fact at 2.32 in the morning we were 401 Amiga freaks at this place. We went around trying to find some contacts but you will have guessed it, it wasn't so easy due to this crowd. After a few minutes we finally managed to find some. But we were not there for chating because Captain Jewels of Devils and I (Brainwasher of Eremation) wanted to make a challenge. Cpt Jewels wanted to beat my wodka drinking record (1 liter in 15 minutes, nice no!!!). So we had to go out and find some alcohol in this town or should I say in this village (there was perhaps more people at the pardey then in the village), we finally managed to find a shop and bought some whiskey. Back to the pardey some freaks joined us for this subpardey (it was ours). The guys who joined us were: Conquest of Anarchy, Merlin/Devils, Agony/Spirit, Rhah/Devils. But as I was ill (I didn't drink too much I just caught a flew) I couldn't drink. Whiskey had the same taste for me as cat piss. Cpt Jewels thought I was feared to drink (Hey guy I was born with a bottle of wodka in my mouth). We decided to enter the party place again. But Cpt Jewels soon told me he wanted to sleep (he was ill too), and so he did. Walking around I found some cool guys and groups. Of course there was the well known bunch of lamers but there were some great groups as: Anarchy, Tsb, Lsd, Devils, Symbiosis, Syntex, Quartz, Dreamdealers, Analog, Rebels (france), Eoc 1999 and many others which I can't remember. I counted something like 71 groups which were present. Time passed, and as I was staying with the organizers to get some news and rumours about the people which was present, it finally happened, the incident. As every sounder had to bring his module, Iris guys checked the modules to put them in a random order, in a meaning to avoid the others to cheat they discovered that Moby/DRD made a 201Kb long module, and the organizers only wanted 200Kb modules. So they decided not to accept Moby's module. Moby got angry and told he wanted to quit the party place, but after some minutes he decided he didn't want to enter Iris' game and he cut down the module to 199Kb. It was a nice idea because he finished at the second place. But before that incident, the police came, because the organizers called them up to afraid some party freaks, which were getting on their nerves. Good try, but I think both policemen and party freak, didn't give a fuck to it, but it brought us something to deal some rumours about. Later, at 6 o'clock in the morning, the competitions started. We went in the hall to hear to the modules. The problem is that, much of us didn't sleep during the night and it was quite difficult to listen to 34 modules but some of us succeeded. And the competition was won by Audiomonster, as Moby ranked at the second place. I must say that I found the modules were very good except one or two. There was a high sounders level. And the Gfx were good too. The subject was The ancient Egypt, and the graphists had 6 hours to draw. At this little game Elmer/Symbiosis won the competition with a superb pharaon head. Nice work guy. But anyway only 8 Gfx were showed. Now time was to democompetition. There were shown 20 demos. Some were pretty cool, but most of them were just average. Some of the demos would probably have been hits 3 or 4 years ago. Inspiration was none for much of those demos. Anyway Dreamdealers won the first price, followed Devils with a nice trackmo but with a too long ending fractal rendering. Syntex finished at the third place with an Amos demo. Due to the fact I speak of Amos, you should notice that Phenomena (france????) presented an Amos demo, with a some good sequencies but which is far away from what we could expect from Phenomena (even the french section. It's hard to believe they have a foreign section, as they wanted only swedes, or is that simply a joke? Wait and see. But if it's not a joke I hope Phenomena will forgive me to have had a doubt). The demo competition was closed and the party was over at 12 o'clock. But during the afternoon there was a professionnal show to which everybody could stay. Some new freaks came just for it. I can't tell you much about the prizes won as we left the party before the results. The party was pretty cool, most told it was the best french party, even though the organization was perhaps not perfect this was probably the coolest party which I visited. Before ending this report we of Eremation must apologize to Iris for making them become mad of anger (we know you liked our way to act, therefore will do it again next year. Why didn't we win the special price??? just kidding guys). Party was over, we had to go back home, and the way home was so fucking tiring, because we travelled 9 hours because of the train beeing late. We went there for fun and we had it so let me say hello to all the guys we met at the party and who enjoyed it as we did. Hey Captain Jewels, next time try not to sleep, I ensure you could have had more fun if you just woke up. In conclusion and because you are tired of reading it: a party worth visiting. ³ Brainwasher of EREMATION.
