     INTERVIEW WITH CINDY/TALENT
  - the first female scenecoder ever

by Lord Stradh

You are one of the few female
mebers of the scene and being a
coderess as well makes you truly
special. You have even released a
dentro called 'Showtime', are you
proud?

Yes, kind of. I spent quite some
time making my first production, so it
was of course a relief to release it
and get it out of my life!

Why don't you make a quick
presentation of yourself before we go
on?

Here comes the usual crap: My
name's Nina Therese, I'm 16 years old,
approximately 1.70 cm tall,
approximately 56 kg, dark blue eyes
and long dark hair. My interests are
handball (!!), some coding (of
course), go to parties or discos,
dancing and everything else girls at
my age do.

'Showtime' was the name of you
dentro. Are you pleased with the
result, and how much time did you
spend on making it?

Yes, I'm pleased with the result,
even though I could have changed some
parts and skipped something, but
that's normal isn't? I don't really
want to admit how long I spent on it,
but it was quite some time!!

What made you start coding, and
where did you learn to code?

Well, I have always found computers
interesting in one way or another, and
I soon relized that coding was what I
enjoyed the most. I learned the most
basic knowledge reading an Abacus book
called Amiga Machine Language, later I
picked up more information by looking
through source-codes and by help from
other coders going to the same school
as I do.

Do you find it strange that there
are so few girls in the amiga scene?

No, not really! But there will
probably be more and more girls
computing in the future!

You are known to be a lazy coder,
is there any truth behind that
statement?

   Who told you so!!! (Well,
according to some reliable sources and
comparison with your brother, that has
to be true!) But I have to admit I'm a
very slow coder, but what the heck!

   Let's talk some more about
Showtime. What's your opinion on the
overall design, graphics and music?

I love my own designing! Modest,
not me! The graphics from Boo was
great (I especially liked the hearts
in the vector part!), and the music
from El Loco an Sundance Kid was my
kind of taste!

What part gave you the most
headache in Showtime?

No doubt, the dodecahedron with the
RGB shading! I had my friend Sindre
to help me out quite a bit there esp.
with the calculations of the object.

You greeted a guy called Sindre in
Showtime. In what way has he helped
you?

He helped me with the vector
calculations, and whenever else I had
trouble he always helped me out!
Thank you, Sindre!

What are your future plans? Any
new releases on their way, or are you
having your Vacation now?

Nope, no future plans, because I'm
quite fed up with coding! It really
takes up too much of my beloved
sparetime, but who knows, I might be
back when least expected...

What made you join Talent, and what
is your opinion on your own group?

Easy one! My very own brother
(El Loco/Talent) was offered to join
Talent, and I wanted to be in the same
group as him! And of course I know
Sundance Kid, Scourger and Lord Stradh
as well, since we all live at the same
place! I think Talent is a good
group, with many TALENTED members, yet
it does not appear to me that the
scene has really noticed our
productions... It remains a mystery
to me that Panta Rhei hardly made it
in any chart! I guess the fact that
it was a 1200 only demo is part of the
blame, still it should have been
ranked much higher.

   Are you interested in swapping?

No, no, no! There's no way I have
time for that! (That is the reason
why I don't spread my address around,
get it!)

Are you going to any computer
parties?

Are you crazy! I don't think my
boyfriend would like that, and
besides, what girl would like to spend
some days in a place where a huge
percentage of the people there are
morons and keep asking you silly
questions and looking at you as if
they have never seen a girl before!
Not me...

So you have a boyfriend! What's
his opinion on computing?

   He's quite indifferent when it
comes to computing, he finds it
boring, and believe me, at times I
understand him!

Why did you choose a handle like
Cindy?

To be honest, at first it was a
joke, then some of my friends thought
it was a neat handle, and I decided to
keep it.

   After you released Showtime, you
put away a lot of doubt concerning to
whether you really could code or not,
but still, some people do not believe
in you, and claim you are a new Patsy.
Does that annoy you?

Hell yes! Of course it annoys me,
I wonder what logic those guys have
behind their reasoning and thinking
when they come up with such a
conclusion. Why can't girls do the
same things boys have been doing for
some years now.

   Thank you Cindy/Talent for letting
us ask you these questions, any final
remarks or comments?

   I say hello to Talentists
worldwide, my darling Frank, my good
friends Randi, Hege, Karianne, Goeril,
Heidi, Marianne, Elin, Bjoernhild and
the rest! Also a big hug to Sindre,
of course! And I guess I must mention
my strong stud of a brother, Harald
(El Loco).~
