       MAJIC MUSHROOM OF QUARTZ

      By Pazza in September 1992

Q: Please introduce yourself and give
your function in Quartz and group
history.

A: Hello there. I am Majic Mushroom,
a Swapper/PackDiskMaker and Coder
(Hum...) in Quartz. I am 18 years
old, into Hardcore Rave/Techno and can
regularly be spotted trying to entice
8 year old girls into my car! Ok,
that last bit was a joke! (Honest
Officer!) Group history eh? Well,
I first entered the scene back in
January 1990. At that time I formed
my own group called Liquid Gold, which
also consisted of Bronx Warrior (Now
in Doom) and Agent X (who is The
Caffeine Kid of Doom!). That lasted
for about 10 months. At my first
party, The Magnetic Fields Revenge
(Oct '90), I was asked to join Pussy
UK. I said yes, but promptly left 4
days later because it was poo and
joined Crack UK! I left them, along
with Paradroid in March 1991 to form
Flash Production UK! We lasted a few
months, died, reformed and then joined
Razor 1911. This was poo so I left
just after the Digital Party. I then
joined Plague, but they died in
February and I stayed indi. For a
while before joining Quartz at the
very beginning of April '92! OY!
Wake up!

Q: Why did you have your recent
name change from "Magic" to "Majic"
Mushroom?

A: At my 18th birthday piss up,
everyone was well ratassed and started
saying my name with a J instead of a G
which gave a sort of french feel to
it, and as its European year (or
whatever) I thought, "Hey, that sounds
good, I'll keep it!"

Q: What hardware do you have?

A: Usual Amiga setup really, Amiga
A500, External Drive, Half Meg
Upgrade, Bog standard mouse,
joysticks, Commodore Monitor, MiniAmp,
and Action Replay Mk II. (Plus tons
of disks)

Q: Are your plans to buy a modem ever
going to happen, or are you staying on
the mail scene?

A: At the moment, I am just sticking
to the mail scene. The modem scene
looks far too unfriendly for me, as
you can get into a war without even
knowing it! MailScene Rules! (NOT! ha
ha!) I am on an ok wage now as my YT
course has ended and I have been taken
on full-time, so I might get round
to it eventually, but its not the most
important thing on my mind!

Q: What machines did you own before
your Amiga?

A: Before Amiga came along, I started
my computer life with a Commodore
Vic-20! Yeah, what a smart machine!
After a long while I bought a Spectrum
Plus and a couple of months later I
upgraded this to a Plus2. I
sold that in October '89 and didn't
have a computer until Chrimbo when I
got my Miggy!

Q: Your Quartz party demo was very
good, especially as a "first attempt"
what up-coming projects do you have?

A: Thank you! I'm glad you liked it,
cheques in the mail! Seriously
though, i'm glad. I have just
released a quick intro called "Intro
For All" and I'm kind of working on a
Trackmo called "Flashback"! Thing is,
I started coding F.B and then Delphine
released the preview of the follow up
to Another World and guess what the
bastard is called, yeah, you got it...
"FlashBack!", but stuff 'em cos I
ain't changing it now!

Q: Do you have any hobbies other than
your computer?

A: Other hobbies include, Raving,
Smoking strange tobacco(!), going
drinking, going driving (NOT after
drinking!), keeping my tropical fish
and the usual stuff that a sexually
active lad my age gets up to! (Gets
up! That's a clue for ya!)

Q: Which question would you HATE to be
asked by me, and what`s your answer
(he he he)?

A: "Why do you call yourself Majic
Mushroom", the answer I hate this
question is because people kinda ask
me this a lot, they all think I'm this
big drug takin' psychopath! I am not
a big psychopath! (he he!)

Q: Compare the scene 2 years ago
(when you started) to how it is now,
how has it changed, was it better then
or now?

A: The scene has changed a hell of a
lot since I started two years back.
The scene was far more friendlier then
so it was easier to get started
swapping and the like. I liked it
better then but I was not a good
swapper as I didn't have that many
contacts. Now, I have a lot of
contacts but the scene is not as
inspirational as it used to be. The
dream scene for me would be the
friendliness and the actual scene of
two years ago mixed with the high
quality releases of '92.

Q: What do you think will happen to
the Amiga scene in the future?

A: The Amiga scene will continue for a
hell of a long time. Whilst some
people are quitting and buying pc's
there are always new people buying
Amiga's. As long as people in groups
are enjoying themselves then they
won't quit. Why quit when your having
fun? You don't leave a nightclub if
your totally pissed and a sexy
stripper comes on do ya! (Unless your
gay!)

Q: Have you ever been bothered by any
legal bodies such as FAST?

A: That's a hard one actually, see my
article in this issue about strange
letters called BE CAREFUL!

Q: Would you say piracy has helped
Commodore sell the Amiga?

A: It sure has! Little kids are
buying Amiga's because they can get
copies of games for nothing.
Actually, I'll admit it: I bought my
Amiga because I knew where I could get
games from for free! Of course, now I
am not really interested in just
games, I hardly play games and I only
have a few. I prefer demos and now
i'm coding!

Q: If you could rob any place and get
away with it, where would it be?

A: A Southern Comfort Distillery! (Yum
Yum Burrrp!)

Q: Which famous person would you like
to share a shower with?

A: Majic Mushroom! ha ha! Hmm, I
think (I know!) it would be a sexy
blonde like Michelle Pfeiffer or Patsy
Kensit, think for yaself!

Q: Who would you like most to beat the
death with a baseball bat (or similar
blunt instrument)?

A: Torch! ha ha! Only kidding mate.
Errrrm, that's a tough one. Probably
Mungo!

Q: If you wasn`t in Quartz which group
would you (like to) be in?

A: Another hard one. Can't really
answer that in detail because I'm very
happy in Quartz and have never thought
about leaving and joining someone
else!

Q: Who do you respect on the scene
currently and why?
CODERS:
1 - The Spy/Crionics (Silents?)
2 - Performer/Melon Dezign (Nice style
    and nice ideas!)
3 - Paradroid/Anarchy (Cool but lazy!)
4 - Dan/Anarchy (Very productive and
    that's great for a coder!)
5 - Spook/Digital (I've seen him go
    from strength to strength, great
    coder.)

MUSICIANS:
1 - Nuke/Anarchy (Very cool style)
2 - Audiomonster/Melon or Silents
    (Very cool, what else!)
3 - Moby/Dreamdealers (This guy is
    brilliant!)
4 - Heatbeat/Carillion (Great tunes)
5 - Snare/Quartz (Not biased but I
    love his toons!)

GRAPHICIANS:
1 - Facet/Anarchy (Simply the best?)
2 - R.W.O/Kefrens (Very very nice..)
3 - Flame/Digital (Nice graphics, well
    presented)
4 - Zoon/Anarchy (Phew! Lovely! Milky
    Milky!)
5 - ????/Sanity (Sorry, can't remember
    your name!)

GROUPS:
1 - Silents (Great group, they know
    what they are doin'!)
2 - Rebels (Great guys, another
    legend!)
3 - Anarchy (Hmmpf, obvious reasons
    why I like em! V.Cooool)
3 (joint) - Melon Dezign (Whether its
an intro or a demo its always
    cool!)
4 - Phenomena (Many great releases
    from the past...)
5 - Mahoney and Kaktus (I wish these
    guys would come back!)

Q: Your Magic Packs are very good, do
you feel, like I do now, that you
should only pack good quality demos
etc, or should you pack anything and
everything you get. Should we
distribute poor or average quality
demos on our packs?

A: I try to pack only good things. I
never rip demos or intros from other
peoples packs, but I know they rip
mine! Lamers! Sometimes, I will pack
something by a group not considered to
be one of the best e.g Doom! I do
this because they give me the rights
to pack their stuff and I am always
the first to pack it. I am proud for
it to have taken me nearly two years
to reach my 100th pack. This just
goes to show, that I am not ripping
other peoples comps just to make mine.
If it takes two years of hard
packing to reach 100 honest packs then
so be it. Although, there's nothing
wrong with packing shite stuff!! When
it comes to party packs, I will pack
everything I get whether it be an
intro, dentro or demo, just so others
can see what was released.

Q: If you could write your own
epitaph, what would it be?

A: "Here lies Majic Mushroom - What a
guy!" or how about "Here lies the
bones of The Mushy Dude, FUCK WANK
BOLLOX ooh that's rude!"

Q: How can people contact you?

A: Its not hard to contact me! Hmm
didn't you say that on the Digital
Party Video? Well, you can look in
the adverts section in this cool
magazine for more than one advert!

Q: Any last words?

A: Erm... Rifle, hairnet, fishpaste,
intermediate, Marzipan. Are they Ok?
Or how about Finish, End, Fini, They
are last words. Just some quick
greets to some cool guys I know: Pazza
- Thanks for this interview, The
Pride/Sanity, Meta/Bass, Torch/LSD and
the rest! Thanks!

Now some questions from me to PazzA:

Q: Why is Natwest such a crap bank?

A: Dunno!

Q: If gays cant reproduce, how come
there's so many of 'em?

A; Dunno!

Q: How come Prisoner Cell Block H is a
fine programme and has to end?

A: Its not, its crap!

Q: Why is this the last question?

A: dunno!

end.
