Lemon. - Can we trust them?

In last issue we introduced you to something that should be the ultimate
scene group. It should be a group of friendship and few members. It should
be impossible to get kicked out. They thought Anarchy was too big for then.
What did happen to this nice group we introduced?

Less then a month after this they started new divisions and got many new
members. (Only some WEEKS after it was IMPOSSIBLE to join them). Already
some months after being created they are way over the maxium of members
that they set at the start.

To get the answers what happened we have got the World Organizer in
Lemon, Facet, for a chat:

When you started Lemon. you told RAW that Lemon. would not expand
much. Quote: "It will be almost impossible to join Lemon..". After
this you have increased your members by 33%. Why?

The 33% you mentioned are our new members in Norway. It still is almost
impossible to join Lemon. With the Norwegians it was that they offered to join
as a team, instead as just one member. And to be honest, things at the
moment are quite different from when we started Lemon.! By now one
member left Lemon. and two joined. Chard left us and Danny (ex-Anarchy) and
Dope (ex-White Label) both joined two days ago. Look out for Danny's and
My slideshow to be released at the Cristmas party 1993!

Lemon. also said that the maxium member limit would be 20 persons. Now
you've got over 20 persons. Is there a new limit in Lemon? 30 members
or maybe 40?

Well at the moment we have 23 members, and I think we won't extend that number
a lot in the future. We filled up the little gaps in our group namely
a Dutch coder (Dope) and a graphics-artist (Danny). We're not at all
serious about doing what we actually SAY we will, for instance if we feel like
expanding in the form of letting another great guy who has the quality of us
all (for example Danny and Dope) then it would be dumb if we refused him just
because we have this 'limit'.
"A limit is only a limit when it can be broken." (Kasparov, 1975)

Lemon. has now got 4 sections, the same amount that Anarchy did have. Do
you still find Lemon. as THE Friendship group?

Yes, we are quite different from Anarchy concerning this aspect.
Anarchy had a tendency of collecting people with good qualities, to keep up
it's reputation and it's chart position. I'm not saying that there was no
friendship...if there hadn't been any friendship, Lemon. wouldn't exist.
I see Lemon. as a team of friends who have bundled their capacities, because
they like making nice demo's. I'm not saying that every member knows each and
every other member, but the friendship within one division is very strong, and
the interdivisional relations are also on a high level.

Lemon. has also said that Lemon. there is friendship over all. All members
will know each other. As a World Organizer do you know EVERYONE in
Lemon.?

It is nearly impossible to know 23 guys from a group and also keeping in touch
constantly with everyone. Lemon. is sort of devided in four parts, Danmark,
Holland, England and Norway. To keep the members up to date with all things
happening in Lemon. we have an internal magazine called J.U.I.C.E. This
magazine is supposed to be released every two months. We also write to
each other, we call and meet each other in holidays! Also, to improve the
international friendship, we're having a private party, lasting a week, just
before The Party '93.

Comment on these statements please:

"You are a dictator that didn't get enough power in Anarchy"

First of all let me say that a World Organiser is very different from a World
Leader. I don't have any power in Lemon., I can't force anyone into doing
anything. This will continue on as long as Lemon. exists, because of the built
in safety catch: I can't kick anyone out of Lemon., if they leave, it is their
own choice! I also think that "power" is out of place in the scene, I mean,
get real, wake up and smell the coffee! It's not a syndicate or a
multinational or anything! I never had ANY power in Anarchy. Nobody in Lemon.
really is THE BOSS. We all decide the things that are equally really important.
I'm not a dictator, I'm a graphician that is having a great time! I may be one
of the founders, and I may be the main-organiser, but that doesn't give me any
power.

"You felt a bit lonely as the only Anarchy member in Holland"

To tell the truth, yes, I felt quite lonely when I was the only member
in Holland. I've a good theory about that matter (Theory Time!). If you want
to be a easy-going and productive group you need 'glue'. The glue are the
members that motivate the others or are good friends. So instead of 'picking'
the best of a few, you pick the guys that can motivate eachother. Not that
we still handle this method. We mainly in the beginning we used this method.
We changed this method based on our situation now. So Anarchy picked out the
good guys to uphold the quality. Basicly NOT for the friendship!

"You started Lemon. only to be in the same group as your friends
 Nao and KR'33"

Interesting point you mentioned there. Lemon. wasn't just started because
KR'33, Nao and I wanted to be in the same group . Though the decision leaving
Anarchy was supported a lot knowing that both KR'33 and Nao would become
new members of this new group.

Can you now understand why Bill Clinton can't do everything he promise?
If you promise 80 things and realise 60 of them, it's better than promising
10 and realising 5! Why ask this question anyway? Did Lemon. promise anything
at all?

One of your promises, if it's still valid, is that you will not kick anybody
out because of inactivity. Do you still stand on that promise?

You bet! When you remove a member, this member is less than a friend. He is an
object, not doing the things asked of him, like being inactive. In Lemon.,
members are not removed to keep up the quality or the reputation. We see each
other as persons not as meaningless, emotionless and active subjects.
It's absolute cack to remove your friend from the group to uphold its quality.

Will Lemon. continue to get new members?

I don't know what the future will bring us. In the start we mentioned a few
statements, just to let the group run on these statements. Meanwhile the
statements sort of changed in the right form. These forms can NEVER be
perfect. A group is 'dead' when nothing really happens. (Theory Time!)
We're like a tree: to get food and to give air. We also change shapes and
change colors. We rest when we feel like resting and don't care the branches
that do not produce any leaves. Without these branches, the tree isn't the
same anymore and will eventually die. And we DO hate some persons that are
using our tree to curve in their names.

Tell me one positive thing and one negative thing about Lemon.?

Positive is that we all are doing our own thing a that we don't care what
others say about us.
Negative is that we are not living in the same town and that we couldn't
succeed, up till now, in getting a flower in the right green color!
Now the words are yours. If there are something on your heart you
haven't told yet. Please speak out!
Theory Time!
Just take a world/scene with people. Each individual is doing the same thing.
For example, imagine a world full of dancers. A dancer is dancing on music and
creates his own dancing style. To learn how to dance he looks at the other
dancers. He first must be able to dance, (He'll then get the status of being a
good dancer), then the style is the difference between being good or being
very good. Allright, these dancers are dancing and after a little while the
same types of dancers are connected in a group. They stay improving their
styles but it will never be that much different from the styles the other
dancers have. Then leave out the dancing part and what's left is a group of
persons. If these persons don't find each other interesting anymore then you
have nothing left. We in Lemon. do not care if someone is dancing enough, as
long as this person CAN dance and dances in our style...
That is what Lemon. is all about. And I think a lot of groups are running on
a company-like way. Like removing people when they don't feel like doing
things.
Lemon., We can't dance!
Two weeks ago I moved to my own apartment. I also started an educations how to
become an Art-teacher. I haven't been that active this year. Now I have sorted
out my life I can do some graphics again and... write back to a lot of guys.
