The Gathering 1994 ·PARTY ON - AFTER THE PARTY It has almost become pure tradition that the Upstream editors manages to keep up the fun and excitement after the actual party has ended. The Gathering '94 was no exception. By Wolfman Having difficulties getting ferry tickets home in time, yours truly and the usual bunch "walking in my footsteps" were forced to spend 2 days extra after the party had ended. This was surely an experience to remember. Living on a crate After most party attenders had packed down and left the perrimises there was only a bunch of Danes consisting of members from: Static Bytes, Polka Brothers, Balance, Kefrens, Virtual Dreams and 2000 AD had made themselfes comfortable on the balkonee where also the arcade-machines were situated. After most party attenders had packed down and left the perrimises there was only this rowdy group of Danes left. The partyhall, which was easily overlooked from the place where we were sitting, looked liked something which could very well be the sad leftovers of a nuclear blast. Said in short: The place was really messy! Well, actually this mess was yours truly, Wreko / Balance, Connor / Balance and Gilthanas / 2000 AD's ticket for being able to stay at the party-place for a few days extra... Need we say more? The scene-team Already some hours after the party closed down some guys felt like playing a game of soccer and after some time a lot of other people joined along. It was a great couple of hours where amongst other people, Toastmaster / Movement, Mr. Hyde / Andromeda and several other scene-guys were running around in the hall like madmen. Later, when the match seemed to get a bit boring, some unlucky guys from Iris was targeted by a destructive Dr. Robotnik / Movement to be the ones to feel the ball, and after that nobody seemed to want to hit the goals. Wonder what the poor sleeping guys from Iris felt when the woke up? DJ Amiga Since the sound-equipment in the hall hadn't been unplugged there we were a lot of guys who were really anxious to use the over-dimensioned stereo for a little module-playing session. Yours truly connected his Amiga 1200 with 90 megabytes of modules and the party-people left raved out to old Heatbeat-hits and everybody had a great time. Booze-night On the last evening before the last four guys from Denmark were departuring, things seemed to get into a nice party-atmosphere. We saw this as a good opportunity to consume our confiscated booze, that is if we could get it from the organizers. Unfortunatly some people are less honest and all the booze confiscated had already been returned to the less rightful owners, BUMMER! This was however no problem. The very generous organizers offered us to share their booze and who were we to resist such charming offer. We four Danes had a really nice night thanks to the Norwegian co-vikings... Zzzzzz... After many hours of Upstream #8 editing and occational sleeping in a fridge as big as a tent (...) one could not miss the feeling that some proper sleeping would come in handy. On the last evening the organizers showed another side of their great hospitality by letting the four of us party-people sleep in the bedrooms installed for drivers etc... Really a great thing when considering the fact that the rooms actuallt costed 200,- Nkr per night... Next year.. After the party? Not much more to add to this cosy story. A great "Thank you!" must go to the organizers who really gave us a nice "after party"-time. Don't worry, Crusaders. we'll be there next year, at least after the party ;-)
