INTERVIEW WITH CUTCREATOR

Interview with Cutcreator / Static Bytes

Done by Wolfman / Balance

Cutcreator... Long hair, weird
beard.. The musician who's music we
hear in each edition of The Official
Eurochart. One of the first musicians
to have lyrics in his modules... Well,
we have an interview with him here.

BLC: Hi Allan, since a lot of people
probably don't know you that well,
maybe you should just briefly introduce
yourself... (Full name, age etc.)

CUT: Yeah right.... Nice talking to
you too ....(hmmm..). Well I'm
aproximately 18 of age and as you said
a bit hairy. My main hobbies are
roleplaying, and... hmm that's it I
s'pose. I like to freak out, as my
friends might tell you some horrible
stories about, and then ofcourse I
have my Amiga (Wildthing!!).

BLC: what kind of education or work
are you busy with these days?

CUT: Ohhh yes.... I... am...
busy... with... some... education...
these... days... (Knock, knock, - you
are loosing it.). I attend the
lektures at Odder gymnasium (somewhere
near Århus.), which is actually kind of
fun. I have also been doing some
gamemusic but that part is kind'a low
right now.

BLC: So, what about girls/boys ;-) are
you busy with anyone?

CUT: Hmmm, Funkey question... No I am
single, and will most likely still be
when this interview is over... (don't
feel sad.). I have a tendensy to scare
girls away you know, but there might be
someone waiting for me "out there".

BLC: You have been in the scene for
quite a while, could you please give us
a summary of your scene-history, you
know: Group, handles, other
functions??!

CUT: I started as a so called lamer
(maybe I still am who knows) in a group
called Ascension, where me and my
friend klaus (Dice of Kef.) soon
ascended to a higher level of
experience. Then I decided to look for
a better group like STB (....NOOOOT),
and I joined 'em. My first contact in
this COOOOOL group was Buck (tingen.),
and after a while I met the rest of the
crew at a party just before the Summit
'91. I have always been a musician,
though I have drawn a loge once for a
party slideshow.

BLC: So what about your
"party-history"?, what parties have you
attended to?

CUT: My first party was the Dexion
party on "FYYYN", when I was still I
Ascension. Then I joined Static
tingen, and then came Summit and all
the other STB paties. Apart from these
I have also been at The party 1 and 2
and The Gathering 2. (I could make a
song about all this.) ...ohh .. I have
also been at (det der samsoe noget)...
the Hurricane party, and a lot of minor
group meetings like galemand
(Kuglepølen!!!!), PresiurePoint and at
the moment Melon.

BLC: Yes, the Melon-party. How did
you like this "party"?

CUT: Well...hmm.... Let me think.
It's a bit messy right now, and there
hasn't been that many people but apart
from that it's .... mmmm..... a
little boring.

BLC: Okay, what does the following
lyric mean to you:
"Cutcreator's magic universe..."

CUT: It means a place where no
troubles exists and where everyone is
happy. Once upon a time I knew a man
called Nielsensen. He was a real
ranger type, but couldn't understand
why people had to beat eachother up all
the time. He had to come up with and
idea of how to stop this horror
(Aaargh.), and after his trick with the
knife he didn't feel anything anymore.

BLC: AhA! So what made you do a song
with those lyrics? You did sing them
yourself, right?

CUT: I maid the vocal track myself
alright. But I didn't really have a
grand idea of what I was going to sing,
the words just pop'd up in my mind as I
wrote the notation.

BLC: What kind of equipment do you
have for making music?

CUT: I am not very well equiped,
caused by me emty wallet. I have an
Amiga 500, Harddisk, sampler and a
Wavestation/EX.

BLC: Are you, or would you like to
make music on a commercial basis, for
example music for games?

UT: Well, I have made some music for
the former Interactivision, but they
are out of buisness now so I don't know
if the games are going to be released.
I have some "foggy" plans about the
future, and if all goes well I'll soon
be working for a new firm.

BLC: What do you think of the

musicians on the scene today? Their
style and quality...

CUT: Hmmm.... (Brain computing...
Short answer.). I think that there are
too many clones and too much "destroy
the bass on the speakers" music. Many
demos are bad because of this. It is
as if a demo tune is supposed to be
noisy and filled with effects or have
tons of beats. I like the experiments,
and I have no favorit musician. There
are many good composers, but none I
will mension here.

BLC: So, will you do the code for
"Kuglepølen 2"? who will make the
music? Estrup?

CUT: I have no plans for a second
addition KP, though our great musician
Estrup has pleaded in the most humble
manner (Estrup has just completed his
studies of "The flutes of china.", and
is therefor very anxious to compose.).
I had to refuse because of a broken
littlefinger and a heavy headache (Ohh
yae.. How tough it is to be a coder.).

BLC: What kind of music do you prefer
listening to in everyday life?

CUT: The music I listen to is, like my
computer tunes, very varied. Red hot
ch.p., Pet shop boys, Depeche mode, the
Sandmen, Rage against the machine,
Mozart, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Enigma,
KLF, Run DMC etc.

BLC: Would you like to become a pro.
musician later on, for example play
with a band and make lots of money?

CUT: Hmmm ... (thats a big desision
son, don't waste your life before it's
begun.) Yes that sounds like a fun
idea, though it would take a "couple"
of hours hard work.

BLC: Now, I'd like to see your response
to the following:

Michael Jackson: ..... Mikael
Jaksoon... is that the guy in the
kiosk next to my neighbour. He is okay.
He is a good salesman anyway.

Roland JD-800: Klik ..... Roland
JD-800... is that the guy in the kiosk
next to my nighbour. ( Klik, klik
..... needs imput... klonk.) This
machine is propably one of the coolest
things ever made to please A500
musicians.

ex-Jugoslavia: I think this will end
up being as fucked up as Vietnam.
Everyone is trying to save their own
hides, forgetting the common folk. If
NATO had killed the black sheep in the
beginning, things wouldn't have gotten
so bad. Now we're all fucked.

Heil hitler: Another example of
something that should have been stopped
in time. (Glaaab.)

Cutcreator: No, I am not a violent
guy. I just don't like it, when people
can't see to the tip of their own nose.
I am the only musician in the world who
can fly (and things are so beautiful up
here ????)

Jester: I hate his brass sound..
stop. Never met him... stop. He is

popular.. stop. Feel free to drop
in... stop. Hey what's that... stop.
Oh nothing... stop. Aaarrrrhh...
stop. SPLAT... stop.

William: (munny)... You seem like a
nice fellow, filled with life. Why do
you call yourself Wolfman? (Don't
listen to him...- Cutcreator.)

BLC: Thank YOU. Now I'd like to know who
you're favorites are in these categories:

Demos: In the kitchen. (I haven't seen
that many.)

Musicians: Heatbeat is okay. (still,
there are others.)

Graphicians: Sauron, why did you leave
me.

Groups: Static Bytes, Rednex and
Kefrens.

Coders: Failed return code.

Diskmag: (he he he. sneaky) Actually
I do not read them. I might if someone
mailed them, but I am not a talented
swapper.

BLC: Are you very much into the scene,
or are you being yourself not carring
too much about things?

CUT: I am not very keen on swapping,
and my engagement is therefore not
heavy. I like though, to go to parties
and make music for the chart. I think
perhaps I would be more active if STB
had some more coders.

BLC: What's your relationship with the
other members of Static Bytes, do you
see them alot and are you close
friends?

CUT: Well, I think that Static Bytes
is a very nice group to be a member of.
We are not very ambitious, but have a
great friendship. Unfortunately we
live rather far from each other, but we
see eachother at every given
opportunity (Parties, Birthdays etc.)

BLC: How much money should one give you
to cut your hair totally?

CUT: (Brrrgh ..... Schhh ffdt...
Aaarrrhh....bubble...).. Hmmm ..
sorry about that, but I think that I
have developed some kind of allergy
towards that question. Anyway.... I
think that 5000 dKr would do.

BLC: Okay, we're nearing the end.
Please ask yourself a question and
answer it...

CUT: Okay.... The red and the green
bear went for a walk. Then after a
while they fell down a litte staircase.
Say after me.... Staaiircaase.....
(And so they did.). When the hunter
came to check on his staircasetrap and
saw the two bears, he took his gun and
shoot one. And now for the
question.... Which bear did he shoot?

CUT: (Polyphonycally)... The red one.

BLC: Mmmhhhhmmmm... I think this was
just about it. I'll just insert my
macro here: "If there's anyone you'd
like to say hello to, do it here"

CUT: Hi to : Quackbuster, Estrup,
Playboy and Buck (Spacemates.).
And to : Dice, Airwalk, Vention,
Jones, Hithansen, Slammer og Dyb.

BLC: And the final: "Anything you'd
like to state for us?"

CUT: Yep..... Why did your disk not
work (Nice talking to you anyway.).

BLC: My disk?! Well, did I format it as
Fast-file??! Who knows...
