The first fucking liars will soon say that "This Was The Best Party I've Ever Been", that "I've Drunk So Fucking Much Beer That I My Memory Has Lost One Full Day" and "The Party People Were Absolutely Crazy". You filthy stinking liars - Herning 1993 was not a party at all! When outside-scene people read those "crazy" party reports, they have to think that those computer parties must be a real excess of alcohol and fun. The truth is a bit different to those party-stories and -fantasies. The truth about the Party III is that the main hall looked like 2000 scener's bedrooms in one. 2000 tables, 2000 computers, 2000 guys in front of it. 2000 stereos blasting with only two different techno tracks, 2000 coke's and 2000 packs of chips. The other 2000 guys, who didn't take the trouble of taking their bedroom with them to Herning, were walking around, sometimes approaching some bedroom to talk with its owner. When I was searching for bedroom #27, which was supposed to be Sting's, I asked about 50 people what number their bedroom had. I realized that, of that 50 people, 100% seemed to be bored. Maybe some of those 50 people are currently writing an article about how great that party was? Why? Just to show that they've actually been there and because they do not dare to admit that they've been bored. Everybody is afraid to be the only one to admit that - so everybody say that it has been great! This guy called Domino / TRSI is partly right with his article in RAW 6. The only thing that compares to the regular scener is a wet piece of white bread! Who wants to go through a gathering of 2000 bedrooms, with no bed but with computer table? Both the organizers and the dull visitors are to blame for this disaster. With their no-alcohol-rule and their permanently-checking hired guards, they were able to destroy the party feeling. The organizers were even walking around during the nights, looking in between the bags of sleeping people, hoping to find some beers to confiscate! When I was asking the idiot what he was doing with my bag, he goes "We're checking for alcohol". I said that he wasn't allowed to check my luggage, then he said something like "We didn't open it" and away he went. The fact that I've met many persons like Control, Orbit, WOTW, Baggy Trousers, Cesium and Lizardking doesn't make it better. I've had bigger expectations before going to that party. It was just a perfectly organized flop. In my opinion, The Party '91 was the best one. Many people, good organisation and loads of alcohol. Without the latter, an event can't possibly be called a party. So this is the truth about three days of Amiga boredom in Herning. I felt kind of stupid when one organizer tried to make me pour away my beer, and the only way to make him give up was pretending to be Spanish.... ("no comprende, soy Espanol, caraculo!"). I know that many people will write reports and tell the world what great fun this party was, I've already read two of that kind. I want to ask them in advance: Where have you been? In the halls, I didn't see too many happy faces during those three days, as almost everybody was in front of their screen all the time. That's a fact. I'm looking forward to all "cool" reports anyway. Come on people. Have you really become that boring? How can you be satisfied with an event that was, though, well organized, but totally anonymous and commercial? If it goes on like that, the annual Denmark conventions do not deserve to be tagged with the label "party", for a party is something different. Herning '93 was a display of what the scener is supposed to be. A boy, building up his bedroom even at a computer party, just to do the same thing as every day. Playing with their Amiga, hoping to catch somebody's attention. homo ludens - beati pauperes spiritu CONCLUSIO You Can't Beat The Boredom, You Can't Beat The Profit, You Can't Beat The Feeling When It Isn't Present...
