The party III×

     -YOU CANT×

  BEAT THE FEELING×

By Mystra and Braintumour/Stone Arts

The Danish Christmas-parties have now
become tradition. Both the one in
1991 and the one in 1992 were great
successes. Up to this party, The
Party II was the world's largest ever.
This year the party was moved from
Aars to a larger city, quite in the
middle of Denmark, called Herning.
The party-place was called Herning
Messe-Center, and is Scandinavia's
biggest of its kind. The groups
arranging this event were Silents,
Lemon. and Spaceballs, but there have
been some rumours that these names are
just "sold" to the arrangers.

The party-place consisted of many
halls and was really a perfect place
to host a bunch of computer-freaks.
Three halls were used for the usual
partying, and two halls were for those
who wanted to have a quiet place to
sleep, but you were allowed to sleep
wherever you wanted. The main-hall
was really big. This hall was for
those who had reserved places before
they arrived.
It was actually allowed to smoke
inside the halls, so the air got quite
polluted after some time. I know that
some asthmatics got ill of it, and
this should be avoided at coming
parties.

In the fair-center, there were also
two cafeterias and a kiosk. One of
the cafeterias was open around the
clock, and the prices were actually
quite reasonable, anyway the food
didn't taste too much.

The arrangers also had a laser-disk
room, but I did unfortunatly not visit
it. Anyway, I was told that it was
very nice.

In addition to the normal party, there
was also an Amiga-fair called Amiga
KAOS! and here you could buy both
software and hardware at favourable
prices - at least for us Norwegians.
You could also try some karaoke or the
new Amiga CD32.

The competitions were showed on a big
screen in the main-hall, and also on a
screen in one of the smaller halls.
The BIG disadvantage for us sitting in
the little hall, was that if someone
decided to play some music LOUD, we
wasn't able to hear what the
organizers informed us about, when
competitions started, among other
things. There was only a screen in
the little hall, no loudspeakers, and
because of that, I (Braintumour),
didn't hear my module in the compo,
which I'd been looking forward to for
at least three months! Another thing
that destroyed my opinion on the
competitions, was that the organizers
didn't shut the power off, so many
people who wasn't interested (like C64
and PC-freaks), still played music,
thus ruining at least the audio part
of demos (and not to mention the
music-compo)!

At last someone managed to really make
some show out of the voting. The
votes were counted live on the big
screens, and this made it more
exciting. Anyway, it could have been
done better. The results should have
stayed on the screen a bit longer, for
instance. But indeed, this was quite
nice!
Often in party-invitations, they have
announced cleaning personell, and this
time, it really was true. People who
went around vacuuming was a sight I
never thought I'd see at a party.
Nice going.

Indeed, this party was great. Maybe
the greatest computer-party ever held
on this planet? I don't know. Now
were just hoping that the success will
continue this year, too. PLEASE?
