A GERMAN SCENESS
* EXCLUSIVE *

___It is a bright, sunny day, and a certain someone is sitting beside me, sipping at her glass of coke, giving me a sunny smile, reminding me of the beauty of the
blue sky and the green fields surrounding our little holiday apartment on the countryside, where I welcome all my interview partners. As you might already have guessed, Sunny is the one, who has placed her cute buns on the Insomnia chair now. Believe me, I am impressed by her attractive appearance. Sweat drips down my neck, while I am stammering my questions.

Please tell us your gender first (For those who still havent got the point. -Ed.)

"Female."

... And your age?

"I am 21 years old."

Which are the former groups you've been a part of?

"Pulse, Orion Germany, Act and Suspect."

How long have you been involved in the scene?

"Since 1989/90."

Rumours has it that you are the very first sceness, can you confirm this fact?

"It's a proven fact. At least here in Germany. The first that took the step into public view, anyway. If you consider the date of my entrance to the scene this shouldn't be too surprising, I guess. I got into scene by the help of some mighty people. Unfortunately there are still not too many scenesses alive. When you take a look at some real old issues of Nevermind, you might find my first contact adverts there, for instance..."

How did you, a female being, get in contact with scene?

"I liked the Amiga a lot for it's demos, but I was a "passive user" of them. Then my boyfriend, called Monsun, became a swapper. Well, he was quite unable to deal with English, thus he asked me to write his English speaking contacts in his name. After a while I realized I could do the same for myself personally, aswell. He was not really happy about this idea, but when we met the leader of Pulse I simply asked him to join... He thought it would be an advantage to have a female Swapper and paw, I was in the scene..."

Having a female scener in a group is an advantage indeed. Even more when we have the seldom case of an attractive scenesse being a groupie here. By the way, how did you come up with your handle?

"It was my nickname in school, because I am a warm hearted person who smiles most of the time. The handle Sunny does not suit a male scene individual either, so I hoped to be appreciated a little bit for my work and not only for being a girl."

I guess you had to fight a lot? How did your scene life develop during the years?

"There are, and there will always be people who believe girls should not get into "male stuff". But I must say the Amiga Scene was always full of friendship, and that very friendship made it easy for me to get along. Many people were curious what a female swapper would be like, and they soon found out that there was not too much mystery about me. I had the advantage that I had not to write for contacts, but people contacted me. Well, then swapping got more and more down, and trading came up. That was when I decided to quit mainly, because I also had finished school and was getting into job training. There was no time for real big scene activities any more. Then I broke up with my boyfriend, and when I got my internet account I though it would be the right time to start with the scene again. Nowadays I am mainly working as an editor."

So you have another function apart from swapping, now?

"Yes, I told you. I'm an editrice..."

Are you independent at the moment or in a group?

"I'm still "indie"... Maybe it will change after TP7? I don't know..."

Do you have any future plans? (Like joining Abyss or Nuance)

"No comment. Ask me that after TP7."

(We found out that Sunny joined Nuance at TP7, thus we can expect that she'll be a busy Nuance editrice from now on. -Ed.)

Well, why don't you tell our readership a little more about your occupation as an editrice, then?

"I am mainly doing non-scene articles, some being short stories and some being simply reviews of topics that seem important for me. I had a special section in my mag "Charisma" called "Ask Dr. Sunny" which I will try to renew in Miracle. So please send support for it! I am writing for each and every mag in need for support and willing to publish my view on things or my weird thoughts about the world."

If I have problems, I will come and ask for your advice, doctor. Coming back to the questions again, we'd like to know whether your contacts tried to explain you how the scene works although you (Atleast partly) already knew it? Did they take you seriously?

"Mainly people helped me if I asked them, but they didn't treat me like a little baby doll. The worst ones in that case were those calling themselves the "elite"... But, then again, aren't those always the ones you don't care too much about? I didn't fall on my nose too often... As I said before, at that time when I joined the scene friendship was still the rule that ruled."

Any hobbies apart from scening? This should be very interesting, as many male computer nerds cannot imagine what a female does in her speartime. (Going to discos etc. etc)

"Of course I sit in front of my mirror all day and tell myself what a beauty I am. No, seriously - I enjoy IRC a lot (Find me under my handle nugtygrl_). I like good books, mainly from people like Stephen King or Dean R. Koontz. I listen to many kinds of music, from Acid to Techno to Dark Wave. When there is any chance I enjoy going to the disco, but unfortunately we don't have any good clubs down here... I also like shopping, of course. (Thank God for the invention of credit cards) When I am bored I play a lot of Duke Nukem (Yes, really)"

Ouch, do we have a Lara Croft in our rows? Males take care... Could you also tell us what you're doing in your real life (Job?)

"I am working as a job trainee in a bank which will be finished in about a half a year. Then I'd like to go to University and study something like psychology again..."

Erm, (Blush). Do you have a boyfriend? (Don't dissapoint all the sceners and their fantasies, will you)

"Well... Wonders always happen. At the moment I have... But I guess most of them will survive that fact. And you never know what time girls change their mind... (Laugh)"

Hehe... Can you also tell us what the term "scene" means to you? What fascinates you and why do you participate in this "men's world"?

"Because I like to use my computer for something useful. People always say that today no one does anything if he doesn't get paid for it. Well, all the sceners need a lot of time to do their job and they don't get any money for it normally. The scene is still alive, even for the C64, though this one is dead since years for commercial software. Sceners are mostly friendly and harmless nerds with whom you can get along really good. Another reason is maybe that I always could better work with boys than with girls..."

What would you change in scene if you had the choice? Do you think we have stagnation at the moment? (Only 3d-stuff, Pc-clones)

"Well, at some time a system is finished up nearly. Variation of favorite themes does not give the big kick any longer. But I guess the good coders will go on and invent new stuff. And all the other artists, musicians, graphicians and editors... Well, there are thousands of songs uncomposed, thousands of pictures unpainted and thousands of articles unwrote... So let's get into it!"

Nice attitude indeed. Do you have a motto?

"Yes, you can read it under my old Nevermind adverts: Curiosity killed the cat- but who cares? I'm the kind of person who always needs to know things by myself. If someone tells me fire is hot I need to experience it myself to believe it."

Okay, but don't burn your fingers when you meet Mop. Many girls found out how hot he is and simply began to melt away. Anyhow, I thank you very much for the sacrificed time... Hope to see you participating in our scenish world in the future.

"Of course you will... Even if I feel like the grandma of sceners sometimes."

Hmm... I think you're not too old for most of us... Hehe...

"*Smack*"

Ouch!
