INTERVIEW WITH JESPER KYD Jesper Kyd & Co produced a video for X-mas party two year back, last year they hold the VERY first computer concert which was very successfull. Of course Kyd/Balle will present something on the Party III as well. This X-mas they will present us a new suberb music video made by using Amiga. We have got Jesper Kyd to answer some questions about last year concert which was so very succesfull.. and maybe we can get some info about the new video as well You arranged a Techno-Concert in the Aars-party. Were you satisfied with your performance? Ok, that's a mean question!! Please note that this was our first *computer* concert, meaning we performed in front of a crowd consisting of computerfreaks, who did'nt really know what was going on (did we?!!). I was quite satisfied with the music and the videos running on the big screen. I don't know if people liked our performance, but I sure had a great time, especially when dropping that damm midi-keyboard!!!. That was wicked!!! Were you satisfied with the audience? First of all, we did'nt really expect any big reactions like a cheering crowd, I mean, I would'nt be surprised if some of the freaks had never been to a concert before!! Another point is that we played TECHNO, and some of the scene folks seem to think that this music is real crap??? Therefore we did'nt know how people would react. Sure, GBII is techno, but it's a first-timer and I think that's why it's so successful. I was quite stunned about the audience!!! We could only spot out the first 200 people, and they were standing and watching very intense, almost hypnoticed. If the other 2500 people had they same expression on their faces I am very satisfied!!! I have only read comments about the concert in a danish magazine called Computer and they seemed to like it, but I have not read any scene comments about the "Happening" yet!!!! I heard some romours that 1000 girls fainted and the police had real problems with holding the public back! Ok, finally a serious question!!! Infact 1232 girls fainted, and the police had to call the military to help holding the crowd back!!! Who wrote the songs you performed that night? The songs were written by Kyd/Balle Prod. That includes the ambient intro tune called "Call Me". Are you gonna start a band, release some records or was this just a one night performance? Ehm, tricky tricky!!! In fact after the GBII release, we got 4 offers from record-companies, but they were all small and unstable firms, so we did'nt except the offers. Yes, I have been playing in a couple of bands, but I thought it was quite boring. Still Kyd/Balle Prod. is a band, and I know musicians who play with us sometimes when we are recording new songs, adding some life feeling into our music. Well, ok, I am also playing in a newly formed band, writing the songs, and playing live (believe it or not!) piano/keyboard. This band is inspired by lot's of music styles like AcidJazz, Funk and, of course, Techno. What will the Amiga Scene see from KYD/BALLE in near future? The only planned scene production is SOS2. Eh, the selector will include 6 or 7 tunes from me, and some surprising stuff from some of my favorite Amiga musicians!!!! What are The Spy working with at the moment? The Spy ? Well he is coding console games. In fact, we are all doing console stuff at the moment!!! Have you talked with the organizer in Silents or any other foreign Silents member the last year? Is this a joke???!!! Of course, Animal called me a couple of times last year!! Atleast two times!!!! Sure I have talked to other foreign members... eh, .... Audiomonster he is.... no he's in Melon now, eh, I have probably talked to someone at a computer party, but that's only a quess. Ok, back to real live. See you in SOS2!!!
