TEDRIC OF PARADISE INTERVIEW This is a larger interview with TEDRIC one of the coders of PARADISE. Maybe you know some of his productions. We talked about PARADISE and their problems and activities. There was some trouble around this group just before so we had several questions. It's interesting we think. Okay let's start... (chris/decade) Decade Interview - Page 1.8 of 1.8 Page 0.2 of 3.2 CJ: Tell us something about you and your Group. PA: My name is TEDRIC and I'm a member of PARADISE. My job is coding and together with ARCATRONIC I try to organize the funky bunch. PARADISE consists of 24 members (for those who wanna know it exactly: 4 coders, 4 gfxmen, 4 musicians, 4 swappers, 3 traders and 5 sysops). Most of our members are living in Germany but we got some members in Finland, USA, Italy and Turkey, too. CJ: A lot of people complain about your releases being lame. (Markt+Technik stuff and things like that). What do you think about this ? PA: First I want to state that I'm only responsible for the demos we release. Second I want to tell you that we don't have a cracker and so it's not very easy for us to release high-quality games, even if we sometimes have got the originals days (!) before the real big cracker-groups. CJ: What is your favourite: Demogroup : Anarchy, Sanity Crack.group : SKID ROW Game : Vroom, Pinball Dreams Demo : Digital Innovation / Hardwired / Upfront MD Movie : Life of Brian Mag : McDisk, R.A.W. (sorry dudez) Coder : The Spy/Crionics Gfxman : Mithrandir/ACME Musician : Static/Rebels Utility : ASMONE, Dpaint 4 Hobby : Icehockey CJ: What do you think is the ĂȘlamest: Demogroup : AMG Crack.group : ???? Paradise Interview - Page 1.2 of 3.2 Game : KID GLOVES II Demo : SKID ROW MEGADEMO Movie : Lindenstrasse Mag : Slime Coder : Magic Drummer/SR Gfxman : Ribald/Pirates Musician : ???? Util : all Utility-boots except Scoopex and Cytax CJ: You like demos with filled vektor routines?! PA: Ok, I can understand that many people think that filled vectors are boring but for me as a coder it's very interresting to see new and fast vector- routines so I personally like them very much. CJ: What are your furure plans ? PA: We will release a TECHNO-DISK in the near future and we want to produce a Budbrain-like demo afterwards. Several intros will be released inbetween and ofcourse our swappers will keep on doing demopacks. CJ: Have you got any problems with other groups or other people ? PA: Well, we had little quarrels with some people like Wizzler/TRSI or Doom/ Design but I think nowadays there are no bigger problems anymore. CJ: We heard rumours that there are several groups called PARADISE existing and about PARADISE being dead. PA: Well, this is a long story - I'll try to tell it in a few sentences. In april 1991 my friend Chris and I decided to found a new group and we claimed the name PARADISE. We were hard working on our megademo when we heard about a belgian crackergroup, which was called PARADISE, too. As we liked our name and we had lotsa logos drawn already, we decided to keep our name. Things were going on well till the Ami- Expo in Cologne. There we met another group called PARADISE which came from Germany too and Paradise Interview - Page 2.2 of 3.2 was already existing since several years. So there were now 3 groups called PARADISE in scene! We joined together with the other PARADISE from Germany, so there were still 2 different PARADISE remaining. Thats why we all joined the Belgian PARADISE. Few weeks later the Belgians left and joined FUSION. (that's where the rumours about PARADISE being dead came from) Well, nowadays there is only ONE PARADISE remaining and as you can see, we're still alive! CJ: How old are you and since when do you own your AMIGA? Did you come from the C64-scene? PA: I'm actually 16 years old and I got my machine now for 3 years. No, I had an Amstrad CPC before but there was no real scene there. CJ: In the last few years the Amiga-scene has changed a lot. What do you think about the scene of the past and about nowadays scene ? PA: Compared to the past there are much more high quality productions released today but nowadays there are also lots of groups which seem to release demos with minor or NO quality just for their swappers having something to spread - I hate this like hell! As there is an infinite number of different groups existing, it's also harder for a new group to get known than in the past. Well, nowadays scene has many advatages and disadvantages, but I think that we have to take it as it is. CJ: Thanx for this interview. Have you got any final words ? PA: Greets to: Boytronic/Outrage, Spiv/Paranoid, Frostie/Reflectors, Demon/Afl, Chuck/Acume, Ripper/Tech, Sir/Violence, Nightmare/Cyborx and ofcourse to CHRIS & JADE (Booze Brothers) of DECADE Don't forget to call our boards. PARADISE - TAKE A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE !
