The Party in Aars Denmark was on the
27-29th of December 1992.

On Boxing day I got up at 5 and nearly
cancelled the whole damn thing, all
the boring shit happens, Parrallax
comes round and my dad gives us a lift
to Heathrow airport for our plane to
Denmark.

We arrive in Denmark after a rather
crap breakfast on the plane (although
I did manage to "acquire" a few useful
things) and try to go through the Red
channel and declare my nice external







disk-drive, a bored looking guard
looks at me as if I am mad and
basically doesn't give a toss (I like
this place already!)

The sign I had stuck on my rucksack
managed to attract a couple of guys
from PMC France who we travelled to
Aars with.

Arrive at Aars the night before and
crash out rather rapidly in the cold
sleeping hall.

After queuing for 2 hours in the
morning we are finally registered and
can start to enjoy ourselves properly,
settle down with some guys who have
PC's (sorry all you PC haters, I have
one to) but fortunately some guys
arrive with Amiga's so I can get back
to doing REAL computing (hello Laars,
Morten etc...) start to explore the
place.

There were 3 halls where the party was
based;

 Hall 1 - Amiga's only (like hell!)
 Hall 2 - PC's and 64's (and Amiga's,
          Archimedes etc...)
 Hall 3 - Dead bodies (sorry sleeping
          hall)

This place was fucking huge, we are
talking MASSIVE, (See the photos!)

Hall 1 Had all the interesting groups
in, Alcatraz, Scoopex, Anarchy etc...
and a large 6x4 metre screen (with
real 6x4 metre pictures too) which
mainly had MTV on.

Hall 2 was about the same size as Hall
1 (just not as long) and was really
empty to begin with but by the evening
it was packed full of people and the
atmosphere was really getting cool.

We decided to eat so ventured into the
canteen, shit I never knew Denmark was
going to be soooo cheap, £2 for a
bottle of Pepsi, £3 for a Pizza, god
I can really afford that like fuck.
Jeezus I didn't eat for most of the 3
days!

Anyway interesting things going round,
Turbo Raketti - everybody was playing
this, imagine Thrust with two players
and various types of guns and you have
Turbo Raketti (unfortunately Turbo
Raketti also had Saddam but we won't
go into that!) you couldn't walk round
any of the halls without seeing this
damned Finish game everywhere.

TRSI trackmo, god knows what it was
called but the music by Romeo Knight
was excellent, 3 million different
versions of Xcopy and Dcopy!

Anyway at 1 O'clock Jesper Kyd, Mikael
Balle and Sionic (I think) did a
really cool concert for about 1 and a
half hours with video backing and
everything.  The music was very cool
Jean M Jarre'ish and I think that
there is a video of it floating around
(Denmark at least)

After this I was totally knackerd and
got my stuff to go to sleep in the
sleeping hall but unfortunately it was
packed full of comatose sods so I
slept under a table in Hall 2 (really!)
Woke up to the subtle sound of Nirvana
coming from next door and tried to get
myself together.  After more Pepsi and
other natural things it was about time
to go look around again.

Video pirates were out in force (one
group with 11 video recorders, 1
plays, 10 copy!) so Italian porn
movies were flying round the hall
faster then Hardwired 5 would (Seen a
copy of Hellraiser 3 as well).

Static Bytes still had not finished
the Eurochart so I just started
talking to people (hello Lite of
Firegroup).  Most people came from
Denmark (Surprise surprise) and a lot
from Sweden.  16 yes SIXTEEN people
from the UK, big turn out guys (Hello
The Rat of Addict, Dan of Anarchy,
Colin of Delicious, Mr. Mister of
Trance, Paradroid of Anarchy, Ozone
and Dave of Abandon, Bon Jogi of Mania
Ent., Eddie of Presence, EXT of Acrid,
Magic Mushroom of Quartz, Gaston of 
Magical, Splatt of Fairlight and Ronin
of Undercover)

The second night I just watched Waynes
World and Basic Instinct in the Lazer
Disc room (You just had to hear some
of the comments about Basic Instinct!)
Got a place in the sleeping hall that
night too.

Next day demo competition, Xcopy or
Dcopy on hundreds of screens.

The Melon Tetris intro was fucking
awesome, really folks that is no
animation.

The party started to end about this
point, we stayed behind so that we
could sleep somewhere for another
night before coming home so we had to
help clear up ("Help" may be over-
stressing the point!)

Greetz to the cool guys from
Spaceballs whom I met that night when
we pissed about with organisers
computers and got lots of cool stuff.
(We really did help clear up didn't we
Yoghurt!)

Anyway that was it, THE final, never
to be repeated if you missed it, well
shit bad luck (Best £200 I spent for
quite a while, 'cept for the old
hard-drive!)

Thanks to Crystal/Silents/Anarchy for
organising two excellent parties, some
may take the piss, some may never
know, but those who went will.
