TEAM17 multi million dollar company or a gathreing of mates? __Having recently released the sequel to the mega-hit Worms for the PC, Team 17 is now considered by even more people to be amongst the finest software companies in existance. 'Worms' has become a world-renowned trademark, and even the most elite scener seems to find amusement in playing this feature-packed, highly playable and addictive game. But Team 17s history is also spiced up by various Amiga productions such as Body Blows, Ali... read more

WOTW in focus The (W)arrior (O)f (T)he (W)ind __Elef Tsiroudis alias WOTW was a very well known musician in the early days of the Amiga scene (1991-92), especially for the masses of chiptunes he produced and which were used regularly in lots of cracktros and other small productions around, especially in old Supplex times. __His scene history also includes groups like The Science Frontiers, Scanners, Gothic, Dual Crew and The Silents, something that shows us this musician can truely be considere... read more

GODS - RUMOURS REJECTED - THE TRUTH TO BE TOLD - ___For years now, we all have been amazed by productions brought to us by the norwegian group Gods. Since 1990 and beyond, the golden age of amiga-scening, the diskmagazine "DISC" has been amongst us, and for a lot of us, it has brought nothing but pleasure. But that isn't the only good thing Gods has produced; slideshows, intros, demos and packs - the list seems never-ending. ___However, a few months back, in March 1998... read more

THE BSE 1998 BELGIAN SCENE EVENT __After the mediocre success of the first Belgian Scene Event, the organisers had announced some improvements, and so the second edition of this party promised to get a lot better than last year's fiasco... __Due to the fact that Raven, Kill'O'Byte and Andy / Nuance didn't have enough money nor time to attend the party, I was forced to travel there alone by train without the possibility to take a computer with me. Review on Damones Go Vodka
This intro starts with some announcement for their homepage and few glowing light dots rotating around. Then, accompanied by a hardcore tune, we see a texture mapped bottle spinning in front of a plasmatic background. The whole production was put together by Darken, Vostok and Owl in no more than 1 hour during Assembly, and it is meant as a gift to Antibyte who wanted a Damones intro to be released, but was too busy with System Crime to do one himself.
Review on Delta
INSIGHT: DELTA BY EMBASSY __This demo came second at the Assembly 1998. It takes up 8.4 MB of HD space (note that this includes some unneeded files!), requires at least a 68020 CPU, a FPU, AGA or CyberGFX and lots of FAST RAM (I was told it needs 13 MB). It lasts for 7 minutes. Coding: Sly, Humanoid Graphics: Oakgrove, Humanoid, Neure Music: Temen, Basscadet __The demo starts with a series of surfaces, arranged in zigzag order, so viewed from one angle it reads 'Embassy' and when the camera... read more
Review on Edit 0.5
A carbon-copy of Haujobb's last year entry? According to the credits, yes, again it was Speedo to code, Muffler to compose and Bay Tremore to paint, but when it comes to quality this intro is inferior! It features the usual 2D offset-table-effects, a texture mapped cube and a water-effect, overlayed by some rotating glowing lightspots - all in 2x2 resolution. We have seen many similar intros by Speedo before, only a lot better. I have no clue how this production was able to win the competition,... read more
Review on Effusion
Another intro by one of the most active groups nowadays, this one being coded Krishna, graphics were done by Muadib who is not a member and Deck made the music. Appearantly it cannot keep up with Antibyte's productions, nevertheless this is not a bad intro. The texture mapping routine offers objects that we haven't see a thousand times before, aswell as nice textures. There is also a zoom rotator included and some lightsourced 2D circular waves. Lacking is a good design and the intro/music abrup... read more
Review on Elektrik Baby
It's obvious that this intro could only be ranked that high in Finland, the home country of most Jormas members. Though it offers surprisingly fair coding, including some well-done texture mapping and blurring besides the usual psychedelic effects, the music and the design are pure matter of taste! Even well informed sources couldn't tell us who did what in this intro, so we can only say that Vesuri, Pekka Pou and Raato have been involved!
Review on Little Intro
Not what most people expected, but DCS has recently proven that they're able to produce so-called high quality intros, while this is more like a fun production, containing a DCS logo, a sinus scroller, a further text writer and some nice comic-style graphics, aswell as some funny tunes! Multitalent B was involved in all aspects of creation, while Deetsay only coded, Optic only painted and Fluffy only made music...
Review on Popgun
Another innovative but highly underrated intro! It features some sort of b-splines, a colorful voxelspace/landscape and a mapped object - this does not sound any spectacular, and it probably isn't, but the code by Kenny, the nice graphics by Kidlove and the wondeful tune by Chromag, combined with a good overall design make this little intro something special! Paragon is the old PC group of Kenny and Kidlove, so this is sort of a gift to them, that should have been amongst the top three intros!
Review on Red-Eye
Being the most innovative intro in the competition, this would have been the editor's choice to win! Spite & Devotion are able to texture map, but they don't have to show it in every screen just for the sake of it. The intro features a combination of blur/glow effects, a radiating object and some alpha mapping. Murk has again proven that a small intro does not have to lack new design ideas and nice graphics, Fndr did the objects and Lust Ninja is responsible for the great tune! The scene can onl... read more
Review on Relic
INSIGHT: RELIC BY NERVE AXIS __This demo came first at the Assembly 1998. It takes up 5.8MB of HD space, requires at least a 68020 CPU, AGA and 4MB of FAST RAM. It lasts for 8 minutes. Coding: Schlott Visuals: Meson Audio & FX: Ganja Pixelled art: Wade Additional design: Zone, Crash, Halflob Stress relief: Gozzer, Lil, Tikka __First of all I have to say that I belong to those people who did not really like Pulse by Nerve Axis, last years highly acclaimed Assembly winner. Therefore I was dist... read more
Review on Synthesis
INSIGHT: SYNTHESIS BY NETWORK __This demo came third at the Assembly 1998. It takes up 6.7 MB of HD space, requires at least a 68020 CPU, AGA and some FAST RAM (probably 8 MB). It lasts for 10 minutes. Coding: Wasi, Wind, Scout Graphics: Leunam, Zaac, Made, Rogue Music: Nork, DJ Uno, Blue __The demo starts with a small NETWORK logo and the name of the demo below. A blurred feedback effect is used to give us the credits, but as the same movement is used twelve times it gets a bit boring. Ever... read more
Review on System Crime
Pixelized Linevectors, texture mapping with or without gouraud shading, bump mapping, transparent mapping - combined with high quality textures (still using my code, Roman? :) and 10 different 3D objects! Antibyte (code), Bird (Gfx), Acryl (Gfx+Objects), Nomad (Objects) and Muffler (Music) are responsible for a intro that is stuffed like hardly any other before! And if it had been the first of its kind, this production would be one of the best 64k intros ever - but most of the objects are used b... read more
