Release Reviews
Review on Brainbow
By Randy/Ram Jam 2nd place: Brainbow/Essence The coder of this intro is Touchstone, the gfx man is Fadeone and the musician is Virgill. The routines present are environment mapping/shading with a nice spacecut (is possible to see the intersection of 3d objects with a pic). I hope Touchstone will return to code soon, since he said he has no time now.
Review on Dreamscape
By Randy/Ram Jam 2nd place: DREAMSCAPE/TRIUMPH This is more an animation player than a demo, since are visualized 7 minutes of animation stored on 4Mb. I think is like an MPEG player, also if someone trust it is a raytracer. Is supported also the Cybervision 64 gfx card. The code is by Darkman & Smeagol, the gfx is by Ivan & Morten, the music by Quest. Is possible to watch it on ECS machines in grey mode or HAM8 on AGA machines. The "film" played is a war between spaceships f... read more
Review on Pinch
By Randy/Ram Jam 3rd place: PINCH/SPACEBALLS This demo is done by Slummy for the code, and Vinnie for the music. The better things of this demo are the music with distorted electric guitar and the scanned photos of tattooed guys and body piercings. Are present also some routines, but the most significative thing is the ambientation. Surely this is the most original one.}
Review on Tint
By Randy/Ram Jam 1th place: TINT/THE BLACK LOTUS This demo features a good audio-video syncronization, a lot of fast routines (all chunky screens have pixels in 2x2), and nice gfx. The requirements are 4mb of fast ram and 5mb free on your HD. Sometime the demo crashes on a4000/040. The code is by Equalizer and Offa, the gfx is done by Danny, Facet, Louie and Rodney, the music is by Azarel and objects are by Tudor. Since there is a good link between routines, you can imagine that demo... read more
Review on Mixed Emotions
By Randy/Ram Jam 3rd place: Mixed Emotions/C-Lous This intro feature only some texture waving and distortions, and an envmapped object. Authors are: Prospect (code), Frame (gfx), Soul & Movement (music). Not a milestone, not boring: just an intro.
Review on DMA Design
By Randy/Ram Jam 3rd place: DMA Design/Rednex This intro has a nice music by Supernao, and some routines by Vention and SurfSmurf like texture zoomers and rotators, plus smearing, and a filled tunnell. This is a good 4k intro, since is present also a music tune.}
Review on EQ-4k
By Randy/Ram Jam 2nd place: EQ-4K/The Black Lotus The author of this intro is... (hard question!) Equalizer/TBL. No audio, but some nice routines, like motion blurred texture distortions, a perspective textured ground, and a nice textured tunnell with blurred clouds that enters in it. I think it's better than Gizmo/TBL, since it has better palette and impressive routines.
Review on Gizmo
By Randy/Ram Jam 1st place: Gizmo/The Black Lotus The author of this intro is Gizmo/TBL (easy to undestand it). It has no audio, but a lot of routines: fire, envmapped torus, voxel landscape, morphing torus, torus in a tunnell.
Review on Lights
By Randy/Ram Jam 1st place: LIGHTS/Stellar The authors of this intro are: Lemming (production management), Nose (coding), Frankie (gfx), Groo (music), Hook (Wave routine). The routines are a textured tunnell, a "water" waving and a cascade of gold coins, that is the most original and impressive one, since it feature a good shading and bumpmapping. The music is perfectly correlated with video effects.
Review on The Gate
By Randy/Ram Jam 1th place: THE GATE/ARTWORK This demo has the best 3d routines actually available on Amiga. The main coder is Azure, with the help of Tron for the voxel landscape. The graphics are done by Fiver and Noogman, and the great musics are by SMT and Virgill. Is really nice to see fullscreen envmapped and shaded objects running on an Amiga with 68040/25Mhz fast as on a Pentium/133Mhz, considering the fact that the 1x1 chunky screens are emulated on our loved machine... But, reme... read more
