                                 KONIX CRUNCH
                                 ~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Hopes are fading for the future of the
 multisystem  games consoles, as  Konix
 its british manufacturer  slipped into
 admiistrative receivership.
  The companys debts are understood  to
 be  as  high   as  1  Million  pounds.
 The receiver, Peat Marwick McClintlock
 is  hoping  to  sell the  company to a
 major    player    in   the   computer
 enter - tainment   buisness.  A   well
 established    manufacturer   is   the
 undeniable  preference,  but  with the
 big companys like Commodore, and Atari
 already booming with their own console
 the future  of  the  Konix Multisystem
 looks bleak.
 The multisystem hada warm welcome when
 unveiled last  year when it was  first
 shown to the  trade and press, however
 by  the  time  of  the  1989  PC  show
 problems   became  apparent  as  Konix
 failed to  present  the machine to the
 public. Intrest has failed ever since.
  Before  embarking  on  the  ambitious
 Multisystem project Konix was regarded
 as a highly succsesful manufacturer of
 high  quality Joysticks. There  can be
 no  doubt  that  the  mutisystem   has
 drained the company.
  It had been  originally pitched as an
 arcade  machine  for  the  home.   The
 graphics were just as good as those of
 an Amiga, and it  featured a selection
 of   control  yokes ( joysticks )  for
 racing,  flying,  and  driving  games.
 Konix  was  even  going  to  offer  an
 Afterburner  style   type  chair   for
 the 200 pounds game machine.
  Gamers  must  now hope a company with
 a great deal  of money  and confidence
 steps  in  to save the  machine  which
 was  once  touted  as  " The future of
 home entertainment".
                     INTERVIEW WITH OLIVIER / PARADOX
    of your group?
OL: Very  very  good  organisation, all
    leaders  organise  their  members!!
SD: How  many  members  do you have  in
    total?
OL: 35, France, USA, Denmark, Holland,
    Germany, Australia, Sweden, Canada
    England
SD: Why  hasn't  there  been a megademo
    from you yet?
OL: no  time, long time  to organise,we
    planned to, we will do demos
SD: What is your  view to the 'selling'
    of pirated software?
OL: without   it   all   active  groups
    wouldn't be here, wouldn't  be able
    to   function   without   buying
    originals, phone bills etc..
SD: How do you treat lamers?
OL: When we catch them we beat them up.
SD: Who are the leaders of Paradox ?
OL: The Surge, Midnight Maniac N Myself
SD: What do you think to Germans?
OL: I don't know alot about them, alot
    them are bad,the best were VF!!
SD: Which country do you think has the
    best pirates?
OL: USA and Germany
SD: Which country  do you think has the
    most lamers?
OL: France.
SD: Do  you  worry  at  all  about  the
    software police in France?
OL: yeah alot,i was busted one year ago
    my  judgement  comes  in  December,
    don't talk to too many people.
SD: Have you been  in any other groups?
OL: Pheonix, and MAD.
SD: Is it  true that  you used to be in
    an ST group (aarrgghh!)?
OL: Not now, I  was  in a  group called
    Replicants. Had it for 3 weeks!!
SD: Why do  you  hate  Angels so  much?
OL: becos they  are liars, untrustable,
    I knew leader, said  we were  dead,
    we had no crackewrs, they  tried to
    get  our customers,  they  said  it
    was bad to buy cracks.
SD: Why is  France so quick  with a lot
    of the originals?
OL: dunno  really,  good  organisation,
    big distributors.
SD: Why didn't you come to the CES show
    in London?
OL: becos, no money!!!
SD: Are  there any  more plans to  kick
    Zelnik's ass?
OL: if i  see him at  ami-expo, i won't
    miss him.
SD: And  when  will  the  Zeldick  demo
    be out?
OL: couple of weeks
SD: Which  crackers ( if any ) do  you
    respect  outside of Paradox?
OL: Rob/Quartex, H.Syl/Ackerlight (rip)
    Mr Zeropage / Red Sector (rip)
SD: Who is  the best cracker  in France
    (in your opinion)?
OL: Hoan/Quartex
SD: Who's  the  best in  the  world (in
    your own bias opinion)?
OL: TIC (Dragons lair,Overlander)
SD: Are  you gonna  make  an appearance
    at  the   Quartex / Anarchy   party
    in 1991?
OL: I plan to go there.
SD: Who  do  you hate  the most  at the
    moment?
OL: Angels.
SD: What do  you  think  of the Genesis
    / Angels co-operation?
OL: Maybe  for them  its  is cool,  now
    they can get there cracks done 100%
    otherwise I think co-ops are fuckin
    lame, there is no  need for a co-op
    to be the best just look at Paradox
    and Quartex.
SD: If Paradox  were not around  who do
    you think would takeover?
OL: Skid Row.
SD: Do you  think that  it is important
    to have English suppliers?
OL: When  you  are  in  French,  if you
    don't  have English  suppliers  you
    can  live without, as  yet we still
    have no  English suppliers, we have
    not needed them because we get alot
    of  English  originals  before  the
    English.
SD: Why  did   you  join  up  with  the
    members of Trilogy?
OL: we joined beacause,  we  think they
    have   the   best  cracker   around
    (Bad Boy, Blackhawk) they  are also
    cool guys.
SD: If you hadn't joined  with them who
    do you think  you would have joined
    with?
OL: No-one.
SD: How many crackers do you have?
OL: 6 crackers.
SD: Have you  anything  you wish to say
    to all your critics?
OL: Just  try  to crack  better quality
    than us, then you can talk.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
         Demo name: COPPER MASTER  -  Author: CORSAIR OF ANGELS!
         ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
    I like  this demo  a lot. It's  really  not all that  complicated  but
   loads of colour  has  been  used.  This  demo  contains  various  copper
   affects that we've seen  bits  of  before, such  as  COPPER MOSAICS  and
   VERTICAL COPPER AFFECTS. But this  demo  also  adds  a  few new  affects
   such  as   `COPPER MUTATION'.   Which  is  basically  vertical  parallax
   colour bars  that tilt & swing!!  The  demo  contains  excellent  MUSIC.
   I can't really say too  much  on  the  GFX  because  they  are   lacking
   slightly coz it is a copper-demo! I suppose it has a nice  char-set!(?).
   * CODING       - Nicely coded and loads of effects!!          60/100   *
   * SOUND        - Nice boppy tune that lasts through the demo! 65/100   *
   * GFX          - Unfair to review the GFX on a copper-demo!
   * PRESENTAION  - This demo tells you about each stage! And
                    everything  looks quite nice!                60/100   *      *
   * USE OF COLOUR- Good.Loads of nice colours everywhere!       75/100   *
   * OVERALL      - This is a really nice demo and deserves
                    merit! Well done CORSAIR!                    70/100   *
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
         Demo name: GLORYSTARS 2   -  Author: SHARK.TM OF SCOOPEX!
         ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
     Well this is the unexpected follow-up to that nice  demo  they  called
   `GLORYSTARS' (suprized?).   This   demo   basically  contains  3  parts!
   The first part is  taking  the  piss out  of  a  STORM  crack.  It  asks
   you for a pass word  and  then  GURU'S! (Nice!).  A small  contact  part
   follows    in      CINEMASCOPE!      Then      the      demo     begins.
   Straight away you're presented with the `Paramount' mountain and  stars!
   (The stars are animated brilliantly!) And then a SCOOPEX  logo  fades on
   at the top of the  screen. A  great  tune  plays  aswell!  All  is  cool
   until  the  mountain  starts  to  SHRINK & GROW,  Oh dear!  The mountain
   zooms off into the distance  with  very little stages!  Still everything
   looks nice when the moutain dosn't move!
   * CODING        -Not too difficult.                             30/100 *
   * SOUND         -COOL! Uncle Tom strikes yet again!             85/100 *
   * GFX           -Very nice REWARD graphics. Even nicer if the
                    mountain did not move!                         65/100 *
   * PRESENTATION  -It's a SCOOPEX demo!                           75/100 *
   * USE OF COLOUR -Because the main part of this demo dosn't have
                    a boring black background I LIKE IT! And REWARD
                    is really good with colours!                   88/100 *
   *  OVERALL      -This demo is quite nice to look at but nothing
                    special.                                       60/100 *
         ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
    This demo  is  huge  in  size!  As soon as the demo is  loaded  a  nice
   Ray Traced `CRB'  is presented  on the  screen! It's  nice  to  see some
   more u se  of  Ray Traced GFX.  After  the  piccy  is faded  away  there
   is the usuall demo credits  fading  in and out etc!   After  the credits
   and `CRB' logos. Some weird   `HIPPY'  pictures  are  displayed.   These
   type of pictures s eem to be  the `trend' recently!  But  CRB  have gone
   one  step  further!!   And  have   used  HAM to  display  their   `HIPPY
   FRACTALS'!!   After   about  10 minutes  of   pyscadelia   there  is   a
   nice filled vektor demo! With a really cool LIGHT-ROUTINE!!!!  I  really
   like this demo! Maybe coz it's pretty weird!(?).
   * CODING      -I can see that a lot of work has gone into making
                  this  demo. And  there's  a good   few  different
                  routines  used throughout!                       68/100 *
   * SOUND       -The tune is really average.                      50/100 *
   * GFX         -Ray Tracing is always cool, And  lots  of  weirdo
                  piccys! But not much  hand  painted  stuff.  Nice
                  credit GFX I suppose.                            40/100 *
   * PRESENTATION-Average.  But  gets    a   bit   tedious  looking
                  at all those hippy cycles!                       40/100 *
                                                                 -->Continued
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
   Materialized Cont.
   ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
   * USE OF COLOUR- Plenty of colour in all those weirdo piccys.
                    And especially in HAM! But bland.              50/100 *
   * OVERALL        I like this demo because it lasts ages! It's
                    good to watch or listen to if your writing
                    letters!!!!                                    50/100 *
   FINAL COMMENT ON RECENT DEMOS.
   ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
    It seems  that  weird cycle  pictures  are   the `TREND'.   And   we're
   still seeing loads  of  filled  vektors.  Why  no  more  STENCIL VEKTORS
   from anyone. Is it COPYRIGHT? Also it's  good  to   see  all  those lame
   sine-scroll demos fading away!!!! Apart from all  that  the  demo  scene
   at the moment is average! There  dosn't  seem  to  be  any  new routines
   being shown off! But I do believe SCOOPEX FINLAND  has  released  a  new
   demo?     Maybe  SLAYER  has produced  something  COOL  AS  USUALL!!!!!!
       An Interview with Frap of
           Magnetic Fields
           ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

SD - Hi Frap!, Is this the first time
     youve been interviewed for a disk
     mag?

MF - Well, not really I have been
     interviewed for a couple of other
     disk magazines, but most of 'em
     never get published. It is a
     great  honour  to  be  interviewed
     by one of the best leading
     magazines.  I  hope that  everyone
     reading   this, gets   great  gets
     great pleasure from doing so.

SD - How long have you been a member of
     Magnetic Fields?

MF - I have been in Magnetic Fields
     straight from the beginning and I
     like being a member of Magnetic

     Fields as everyone is so friendly
     especially  cosy (keep on  sending
     those games!!).

SD - Can you tell me a little about MF,
     and its members?

MF - Magnetic Fields started about 2
     years ago, when two main groups
     called   Sub-Zero  and   Nitro A.C
     joined together to form MF. At the
     moment we have quite a few coders,
     musicians, swappers etc.

SD - Were you one of the founder
     members of the group?

MF - I'm afraid I was not one of the
     founders  of  Magnetic Fields, but
     I was one of the main members
     who got Magnetic Fields so famous,
     as I have a good relationship with
     all the foreign groups, and thats
     very important when you are first

                            -- Magnetic Fields Interview --
                             -          Page 2           -

     starting out!.

SD - How did you become labled as "The
     biggest demo freak in the U.K"?

MF - Oh I did not know I was labled as
     "The biggest demo freak in the UK"
     but anyway It's fairly easy, all
     you need to be a total square face
     have loadsa money and bags of time
     sitting  infront   of  the  boring
     X-COPY!!. Theres still a lot more
     work to do still I am the No1
     Demofreak!!!.

SD - What do you think about the demo
     scene in the UK, do you think we
     match the rest of the world or
     or lacking in someway?

MF - At the moment we are lacking
     behind  the  European   Groups  in
     producing nice quality demos(worth
     spreading), but as I say we are

     not that far behind!!   Especially
     Anarchy who are probably the best
     group in England for demos, not
     forgetting your musician 4-MAT who
     is so cool at composing the nicest
     music. The answer to your question
     "Yes we are still lacking".

SD - What do you think about your own
     groups  productions? How would you
     speak of them if you were in
     another group?

MF - Oh if I was in another group I
     would say they were @#$@. No only
     kidding we are not bad, but as I
     always say to our coders, they are
     still not as polished as foreign
     demos, we are getting there!!.

SD - What would make an ideal party for
     you?

MF - My ideal party would be one with
     no bigheads who think there cool!

                             -- Magnetic Fields Interview --
                              -          Page 3           -

SD - Now its time for those "Favourite
     Things"  questions!, Who would you
     rate as the top 5 all round groups
     in     A..The U.K,   B..The World?

MF - In the world are 1. Scoopex
     2. Paradox    3.  Skidrow/Valhalla
     4.Oracle                5. Quartex
     I will not comment on the UK as
     you will get all the lamers
     moaning saying "I am the fuckin
     best"    (Remember   Scooter/LADS)

SD - Who are your Favourite Coders,
     Musicians & Artists in the whole
     wide world ever?

MF - My favourite coders are RSI,
     Kefrens,   Budbrains,    Alcatraz,
     Crionics.
     My favourite musicians  are Romeo-
     Knight, Uncle Tom, Enstein,& 4-Mat
     My favourite  artists  are  anyone

     who produces cool grafix!

SD - What do think about megademo's?,
     have they become stuffy, out of
     fashion, and far too common or
     do they just need a boost in the
     arm?

MF - Megademos ar e O.K, some of them
     are really mega, but usually they
     have  a    cool   beginning,  cool
     ending, + loadsa shit in between,
     but   take   Budbrains   Megademo,
     really  polished  and  mega. (hope
     more come out?)

SD - Do Magnetic Fields, intend to
     produce a megademo in the future?

MF - At the moment, we would like to
     produce a Megademo, but by the
     time we would have completed each

                          -- Magnetic Fields Interview --
                            -          Page 4           -

     part and released it, each part
     would be out of date and really
     shit, I think it would be better
     doing a good demo and releasing
     it one at a time. It makes more
     sense to do a g ood demo instead
     of loadsa boring parts.

SD - Who do you admire most in the
     scene today, and why?

MF - I really don't admire anything in
     the scene at the moment, as there
     are far too many big heads out
     there!!!

SD - How much did the loss of Spooks
     coding talents effect MF?, has it
     made the other coder s in the
     group get their fingers out?

MF - The loss of spook has not really
     affected us as we have another
     cool coder called Turboslug,& more

     great   coders  who   are   always
     on new relea ses, so watch out for
     them?

SD - How and when did you discover
     there was such a thing as an
     'Amiga Scene"?

MF - When I first started to get new
     contacts, as I was on the good old
     C64, its a bit of common sense
     to become hot again.

SD - Being a "Demo Freak", you'll have
     seen a hell of a lot of demos,
     do you remember most, and why?

MF - Yes I can remember loadsa demos,
     also I have a huge collection of
     demos  ranging    from    the   Cat
     Anims  to   the   v.Latest   demos.
     (1200 disks)

                          -- Magnetic Fields Interview --
                           -          Page 5           -

SD - Which is your favorite Magnetic
     Fields demo?

MF - My favourite demo by Magnetic
     Fields has got to be the
     Vectorbobs demo, although  I  was
     impressed by the Zarjaz demo and
     Copper intro.

SD - Whats coming next from Magnetic
     Fields, and where does the group
     plan to go from here?

MF - The next plan is the Party which
     is very soon, so I Hope
     many groups can turn up and make
     the   party  a  good one.  I don't
     know when this issue is coming
     out so you will just have to
     wait till the party to find out
     whats coming.

SD - Well, this is the last question!
     Is there anything you'd like to
     add before we end the interview?

MF Yes, Have you bloody finished
     asking me questions, Now I have to
     get  some  sleep,  bye everyone!!!
     see ya all soon, and take care!!

SD - Thanks for your time, have fun,
     stay  cool,       ---------->Drokk

                       The Magnetic Fields "REVENGE" Party
                       ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
                          A party report by Judge Drokk
                          ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

    October 27th 1990  10am - 12pm
    ------------------------------
    On this historic day in time, Magnetic Fields held their second party.
    Their first, the 'Select' party, had taken place eight months earlier
    and had obviously given MF the confidence to organise a much bigger
    event....this was IT!

    The Location
    ------------
    The party was held just outside Rotherham in South Yorkshire, England.
    The actual partyplace was a spacious sports hall, with a comfortably
    large carpark. Inside the actual hall were two bars, one serving
    constant food (burgers, chips, hot dogs!) and the other serving
    constant booze!  Ahh... Heaven!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Who was there?
    --------------
    Well who was at the party, well just about all of Magnetic Fields,
    Anarchy of course,(OF COURSE!), Skid Row, Quartex, Miracle, Rebels,
    Ecstasy (Hi Sabbath!), Inner City, Modesty, Intuition, Crack, Rare,
    Pussy ...and lots more!

    The Competitions
    ----------------
    As always, there were the familiar Demo & Music Competitions, a
    Kick Off competition, and perhaps a first for Amiga conferences,
    a Tug-Of-War competition. The first to be held was the Kick off
    competition, where 64 guys battled for one of four winning trophys!
    This competition officialy began at 3:00 pm and ended at aprox.6:30.
    The results were like this.. 1st Place - Wizoid of Inner City
                                   2nd Place - Smurph of Inner City
                                   3rd Place  -  Mr.Big of Anarchy
                                   4th Place - Axe of Inner City

    After the winners had collected their wonderfull trophy's, it was
    time for the next event.. the Tug-of-War!
    Six teams of six dudes were assembled, each team made in whole or
    part from the crews at the party. Our team was made from Anarchy

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    members (Judge Drokk, Mr Big, Banger) and guys from MF (No.5 ect).
    A best of three tugs decided the winner of each bout, sadly we were
    wiped out by a group of vertual unknowners called "The Laughing
    Assasins", they were obvoisly on steroids!!

    The next highlight of the day was the Demo & Music competitions.
    These took place at aprox. 9:00 pm, (three hours late). Just about
    everybody who was left sat in front of a large stage, on which an
    Amiga and monitor, AMP and a pair of large speakers stood. Every
    demo entererd into the competition was then shown. This is the
    only place where the organisation slipped up, although the
    collapse of the demo competition was hardly due to the
    organisers. The original method of voting in the demo comp was
    for each guy to write his favourite demo from all shown on the
    back of his (specialy marked) entrance ticket, but this idea was
    dropped due a lot of guys voting and leaving the party after only
    a few of the demos had been shown. This was felt unfair to the rest
    of the guys who's demos were not shown until last. So the voting
    method was changed to a show of hands. Now this is where the
    party organisers slipped up, after all demo's had been shown, and it
    was time to vote nobody could remember what they had seen or who it
    was by!, So only about a third of the demo's got the "show of hands",

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    This mistake didnt make any difference to the authenticity of the
    final results but it must have annoyed the guys who entered a demo
    which never received a deserved vote. The other flaw in competition
    was not the fault of MF but the fault of little bastards who wanted
    to screw up the voting by voting for their own group. The main culprit
    of this crime was a guy from New Age of Sweden. He sat with hand
    raised for his own demo and when told he could not vote for his own
    demo he said 'What!?... I'm not in New age!', yet he was wearing a
    New Age T-Shirt!, What an asshole, he was fully deserved of his
    title....."TOE RAG". Remember, winners dont cheat (they just get
    shit faced!). Results of the demo competition were as follows

    1st Place - Anarchy's "Madness", Code & GFX by Dan. Music by 4-Mat.
    2nd Place - Express "Filled Vectors"
    3rd Place   -  Modesty   "Vector-Bobs"

    The prizes were as follows ... 1st - 100 Pounds, 2nd - 60 Pounds
                                   3rd - 40 Pounds.

    The Music competition was held in a similar fashion but thankfully
    ran a lot smoother! The only hiccup was when Ray Norrish tried to
    eneter an already heard tune (his Killing Game Show music) into
    the music comp and became rather emotional when he wasn't allowed!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Conclusions
    -----------
    All in all, the party, in my opinion, was the best U.K party yet. The
    group turnout was tremendous, the only notable missing groups were
    S.A.E, and Genesis. Its just a shame more european groups didnt come,
    you could have thrown that toe rag from New Age out of the plane on
    the way home!! The party place was excellent, although an extra room
    (or two) for coders who cant work in noise would have been nice. The
    allday booze and food bars were great, (ask Banger of Anarchy if you
    dont beleive me)! The Kick Off & Tug of War competitions were
    superbly organised and the demo comp would probably have gone a lot
    smoother if it had taken place at its originaly set time. But you
    cant blame MF for this!, It was just the Kick off comp that lasted
    longer than had been anticipated! The prizes were large and many, a
    total of 200 Pounds were given as prizes in the demo comp, with an
    extra 50 & 30 Pounds prizes in the music and Tug of War competitions,
    respectivly & four large trophy's were arwarded in the Kick Off event.
    The releases from crews were plentifull, although it has to be said,
    true quality was sparse. Magnetic Fields themselves releases five
    products with a sixth yet to be released. All in all, the "Revenge"
    party the best & biggest U.K party yet. Congratulations and thanks
    to Magnetic Fields for such a great day! >Judge Drokk/Anarchy

   --->   What is Crecoder?   <---
          ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
    -->      By Turmoil       <--
             ^^^^^^^^^^
 There are many utils that come and go.
they are all coded, spread, put on
compacts and then you dont here of
them again, well unless they are
useful! There are exceptions to this
as everyone knows especially when you
say X-Copy, and all the versions that
were too follow. This util is the most
famous on the amiga but why? Well
probably  because   everyone  needs   a
reliable and fast copier and nothing
beats X-Copy for that. Its still not
perfect though as other things could be
added like it being multi-tasking as I
know some guys would like it too be.
Other famous and highly used utils
include Dmaster, Cli-Mate, Noisetracker
and  Soundtracker,  Seka,  Devpac,  IFF
Converter ,    Powerpacker,    Titanics
Cruncher,  DPaint  3,   various   virus
killers and various music rippers. All
these are truly brilliant and without
them would make life on the amiga very

hard and boring.
well what is this all leading up to
you may be asking yourself. well its
just to mention about a new util that
is really useful especially for people
with pirated software. yes as you
might have seen on the title above it
is crecoder coded by creator of
powerslaves. this amazing util is one
which can stop any problems you may
have with the cops.
what it does is it wipes over a disk
with its own bootblock so any games you
have you can protect them this way and
as far as i can see it works. i will
give you a short explanation of what it
does but if you want to know more or
want this tool than get a copy of it
from  somewhere  (creator himself would
be a good bet).
how it works is when you have it
loaded up you type in your secret
password that no-one else should find

The Crecoder  Cont.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

out. then with your formatted disk in
df0: you write this password-boot onto
the disk. remember that it has to be a
formatted disk! once this is done you
can get rid of the util if you so
desire and reset. now what you have is
a coded disk which you must not lose.
boot this disk up and you see it will
load up and stop after a few seconds on
the workbench hand screen. type in
your password and voila. now take out
the disk and insert the games you want
protected and you are now totally
legal. it works for non-dos games
aswell if you were wondering.
a cool and needed util especially as
the way things are going with the
software police lately.

                     --->    The Zarchy Interview    < ---
                 --> Stolen Data bring you the Big Ones! <--
                            -----------------------
 What    now   follows   is  prevoisly
 unpublished   interview  with one  of
 the U.K scene's most popular guys!
 This    interview     was   originaly
 withheld from publication by  Zarchys
 press manager for the sole reason
 that, and I quote "If this guy gets
 any more attention it could kill him
 ... you publish that Interview and
 we'll sue!" Now that T.H.R are no
 more, and Zarchy has escaped the
 eye of the scene by changing his
 name to "Jazzcat" and moving groups
 a lot we at S.D think its about time
 that this interview was shown to the
 public....        Judge Drokk/Anarchy

Q - Introduce yourself!

A - My name is zarchy of The Hacking
    Relation and I am 16 years old.
    I am about 150 cms tall and have a
    high pitch voice.

Q - Talk about your group!

A - Well T.H.R. (for short) is  a very
    popular English group who  release
    some very cool demos and are shit
    hot at swapping! Its been going
    along time but we only recently
    became  famous  worldwide!

Q - When did you start with computing?

A - I've always had a computer  all my
    life because I like playing games!
    I bought my Amiga because I saw it
    was expensive!

Q - What is your position in T.H.R.?
    Crack, train, code, music, gfx or
    swap?

A - Well I cant crack an egg, I have
    some trainers but I only wear
    them, I can assemble on Devpac,

    I havent worked  out  Soundtracker
    1.1 yet, but I am a GFX person
    although I cant draw a pair of
    curtains. I am an elite swapper
    and love to drop people especially
    bigger than me!

Q - How do you compare the Amiga scene
    with the C-64 scene?

A - The C-64 had better games to play
    and there were no wars and I dont
    like wars because I know I would
    lose them!

Q - And  what   about   T.H.R   future
    projects?

A - Well I am going to make it much
    more famous and become the elite
    crew on the amiga. I will take
    it to the top because no-one
    else will!

Q - How many contacts do you own?

A - I own  about  30-40  contacts  but
    only the elite ones because I drop
    them if the stuff they send is
    more than 2 days old! (Greets to
    my contacts seeing as we are
    talking about you!)

Q - Do you treat your contacts well?

A - Of course.I tell them what I think
    of them and how many of the disks
    they sent to me, I had!

Q - Have you been to many parties?

A - Yes my friend had one last week
    for his 13th birthday and I went
    to one some months ago but I did
    not like it because everyone was
    with a girl and I felt left out!

Q - No. I mean  copy-parties  for  the
    Amiga!

A - Why didnt you say then! Yes I have
    been to loads and met lots of cool
    guys there, although they kept on
    hitting me for some reason and
    writing      offensive     letters
    everywhere. I am sure it was
    nothing personal in any case.

Q- What do you think of the software
    police?

A - They dont bother me. In the UK
    there is only F.A.S.T. and they
    are not half as fast as me!

Q - Who are your favourite guys on the
    Amiga?
A - That would have to be all my
    contacts and those who release 100
    percent cracks  megatrained  on  1
    file! I dont like groups who
    import stuff and who release shit
    cracks!

Q - Do you have any enemies on the
    Amiga?

A - I dont think so! as far as I know
    everyone thinks I am a real cool
    guy! Thats why they are always
    writing things about me!

Q - Do you collect games or demos?

A - I only collect games so I can play
    with them! Demos are good but
    only with filled vectors! I dont
    like keeping them unless they are
    ours!

Q - What do you think of viruses?

A - I love spreading them on peoples
    disks! I know what trouble they
    are you see!

Q - Do you have a girlfriend?

A - Whats that?

Q - Do you do any sports?

A - Yes, I walk up the stairs to my
    computer every  day  after  dinner!

Q - How many hours do you spend
    infront of your computer a day?
A - Well I  sleep  for  10  hours  so,
         24 -
         10 -
          1 - (eat)
            = 13 hours a day

Q - Do you have a motto or slogan?

A - Yes I have 2!
    "I am the best of the best and the
     rest are lame!"
     & "Whats your latest?"

Q - Any last comments!

A - Bye lamers....

                      AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH QUARTEX!
                      ------------------------------------

                             CONDUCTED BY MR.BIG

SD:What's  your  handle  and  cheif
   function?
QX:I'm  Waremonger,  Sysop  of   World
   Head - quarters ( Your Link to
   Perfection)  since  March  of  1989
   Functions? Many! You do NOT get
   into Quartex for simply running a
   board too many lame ones out there
   anyway!

SD:How old are you?
QX:I can tell you I am older than you!

SD:What's  your profession  other than
   pirating?
QX:Teacher of Computers

SD:How long has your group existed?
QX:Since Summer of '88

SD:Do you have any enemies at the
   present?
QX:Lots! Which means we are doing a good
   job....

SD:Why has Quartex had more wars than
   any other group?
   (Paranoimia,  World  of  Wonders,
   Public Enemy,  Eagle Soft Inc.)
QX:Hey, you forgot the famous Bencor
   Brothers skirmish!
   'Cause  during  our  heyday  our
   competition was hilarious....

SD:Who are your friends in the scene
   outside of group members?
QX:Fletcher Christian,  Surge,   Rokman,
   High Pockets, Lord Delos, Jeff Kirk
   Captain Video, Flob ( he probably
   won't even see this), lots of other

   guys Oh also, the Beatbox and Evil
   Priest ha ha ha ha only kidding..
   two lamers who love each other and
   hate me... Who cares HA HA HA HA HA

SD:Is it true that members of Quartex
   pay to be in?
QX:Depends on what you mean by paying
   All members that I know work to be
   in... Guys who THINK they were
   members probably weren't...We always
   took a long time to pick members but
   when they  were finally 'officially'
   recognized,  membership is  lifetime
   (So far he he he he). Also, never
   believe what you hear...

SD:How long have you had your amiga?
QX:Since Nov.  '85 " B. W." During  the
   time of Kickstart 1.0 and below
   the time of Betas, and PD Software
           ..BEFORE WAREZ....

SD:What is your personal setup ?
QX:Setups you mean... Board runs on an
   85 Amiga A1000  with  2 Meg External
   Comspec board,  CLTD Controller with
   a 240Meg SCSI Priam HD.....

   Personal system:
   A25000  with  ' 33 Mhz  030/882  GVP
   board,  9 Megs RAM,  3  Quantum  105
   megs,  Wangtek,  150 Meg   Streaming
   tape, Flicker Fixer with Nec 3D
   monitor, 3 floppies including, 5.25"
   880K Euro-drive...Both  machines are
   networked  together through parallel
   ports HST on each machine, also have
   full midi setup, 2 keyboards, drum
   machine.

SD:Why do you think groups come and go
   so quickly?
QX:'Cause they FUCK UP so much and are
   so stupid people lose trust and they
   have to start ALL over again HAHAHA

SD:What part of the ' Amiga Scene' do
   you like the best?
QX:Two things...good software/utils and
   the TONS of money that lamers are
   willing to throw around!

SD:The big question: Why don't Quartex
   use intros?

QX:Oh, you mean the second most asked
   question  by  LAMERS about  Quartex?
   Well, most groups pay someone to do
   it anyway,so unless you have someone
   in the group with time to burn it is
   useless...With  the 400+ releases in
   the two years we've been around we
   would need to have quite a few guys
   working on new and cool intros
   otherwise they are sooo boring... I
   mean, how many times can you listen
   to the same   DRONING   noisetracker
   crap and read the same sine scroller
   ...Most people wanna play the game
   not read some lame c-64 shit....

SD:Is it true that you pay your cracker
QX:Yet another one of those common
   rumors you hear.... we'd have to be
   pretty rich then, huh?

SD:What do you think of the groups who
   pay their crackers?
QX:It's  pretty  funny....... I  always
   wondered...if  it  is  a  50% crack,
   does he have to make a refund??!

   Or do they withhold part of the
   payment  until  it's  beta-tested by
   everyone? Pretty cool job for the
   cracker I guess...

SD:Do you get any spare time to do
   anything other than being a sysop?
QX:I run a board 'cause I need time!
   In the old days you spent much more
   time.. Now, you wake up in the
   morning  and  there's  the wares....
   Yeah I have plenty of things to do
   other than Sysop...

SD:Where do you see the Amiga in say 5
   years time?
QX:Sitting in my closet next to my
   Atari  5200... I  think  I  will  be
   playing with my NEXT machine HAHAHA

SD:What do you think you will be doing
   in 5 years time?
QX:Interesting question.... If you  had
   said in ' 85 would this machine
   still be alive today, I would have
   laughed at ya! Can't imagine what
   kind of contacts I will have in 5

   years from now! heheheheh

SD:What would you say to a pirate who
   said Quartex are dead?
QX:He was blind...

SD:What are your views of the piracy
   scene of 1990?
QX:Not too many good crackers left...
   the HARD stuff is still not 100%....
   there's still only one cracker I
   know who can make REAL 100% warez
   Seems this should be called ' The
   Year of the 100%' or the ' Year of
   the FIX'

SD:How many members does Quartex have?
QX:12 or so..

SD:Why do you think Quartex has lasted
   so long?
QX:We're all good friends ( most of the
   time), we KNOW our shit, and we
   enjoy ourselves...

SD:Who are the principal members in
   each country?

QX:You all know who we are!

SD:Does any member have the final word?
QX:Yeah, me! No, the main guys consult
   and make the decision that best
   benefits the whole..

SD:What is the basis of a leading group
   in your opinion?
QX:A leading group needs all the basic
   elements, good suppliers, spreaders,
   crackers. Most of all,  KNOWLEDGABLE
   members, not some lame guys who are
   into a power trip...

SD:The next paragraph is an Exclusive
   Statement made by QUARTEX about all
   the comments and criticism passed on
   them by others.
QX:Well if you mean by exclusive as
   ' being the first interview ever
   granted' then fine. As far as I can
   remember into the depths of time
   No Quartex member has ever done one
   of these Lame interviews...but I was
   PRODDED into this by  Jester/Quartex
   so I can say I am the first..I think

   ONE TIME a German member ( who will
   go   nameless)   was  approached  by
   Cracker Journal at a show and the
   guy was told politely to Fuck
   Off...We  really  never  cared  what
   people had to say about us, as
   we did our best and let our releases
   speak  for  themselves..... We  have
   NOTHING to prove, as we have PROVEN
   it already...it is up to a group out
   there to match it or shut the fuck
   up .. There IS no group who has
   dominated the dreams of all for so
   long with such a HIGH reputation..
   We take it as a compliment when we
   make  other  groups  mad.....  keeps
   everyone trying harder to make good
   decent working stuff...

 HOW TO MAKE LOADS OF MONEY (YEAH)!!!
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I  found this text on a board.  I find
it  very cool so I decided to share it
with  all Stolen Data readers!  I dont
know   who   wrote   it...but   anyway
greetings  to  you!   The  name of the
board  I  found it is Omicron`s BBS in
Sweden,  Bad  Boys BBS, But it is down
at   the  moment...   But  call  their
second     board:     Djungle    Base:
+46-920-59404!    Sysop   is  Stanton!
Happy reading fans!
                     Teeze of aNArChY!
Hello!
  Do  you  have  an  original  recipe,
craft  plan  or an idea that you would
be  willing  to  sell through the mail
for $2.00?  If you do, this letter has
a rare power!!  This letter will bring
in  at least 50,000 orders in the next
few weeks.
  This is not a chain letter.  It is a
new  perfectly legal Network Marketing
Plan,  since  we  are  both buying and
selling  a  product.   (Refer to title
18, section 1301, 1302 and 1341 of the
postal and lottery code).  This is not
like  any  other get rick schemes, but
more of as mail order.  If done right,
everyone  profits  and  no  one  is  a
looser.  You are selling a product not
building a cycle.
HERE'S WHAT TO DO:
1: SEND EACH OF THE FOUR LISTED BELOW
   $2.00 FOR A PRODUCT ORDER.
2: REMOVE THE PERSON WHOSE NAME IS IN
   THE #1 POSSITION.
3: MOVE THE OTHERS UP ONE SPACE AND ADD
   YOURSELF AS #4
4: MAKE AT LEAST 100 COPIES OF THIS
   LETTER AND MAIL IT TO FRIENDS,
   NEIGHBOURS AND OTHER SMALL MAIL
   ORDER BUSINESSES.
  You can find the names and addresses
in publications such as the Glode, the
National  Enquirer, Popular Mechanics,
Employment   News,  etc...,  in  their
classified  sections  or  you  can buy
super   effective,   target   specific
mailing list.  Just look in the yellow
pages  under  "mailing  lists"  and be
sure   to   speciry  names  that  sell
recipes.    The   price   is   usually
somewhere  in the neighbourhood of 100
names  for  $100.   Another idea is to
simple  drop one into each mailslot in
a nearby apartment building.
NOW HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:
1: YOU SEND OUT 100 LETTERS, 15 PEOPLE
   SEND YOU A $2.00 ORDER.
2: THOSE 15 SEND OUT 100 LETTERS, 225
   PEOPLE SEND YOU A $2.00 ORDER.
3: THOSE 225 SEND OUT 100 LETTERS, 3375
   PEOPLE SEND YOU A $2.00 ORDER
4: THOSE 3375 PEOPLE SEND OUT 100
   LETTERS, 50,626 SEND YOU A $2.00
   ORDER
5: GRAND TOTAL AT 15% RESPONSE: 54,240
   ORDERS X $2.00 = $108,480
  Including    initial    order,   the
postage,  envelopes and copying costs,
you  will  pay  less  than  $50.00  to
participate  in  this  Marketing Plan.
What have you got to lose?
  The prime factor in making this plan
work  are  Honesty, Intergrity, Action
and  some  Hard Work!!  When you start
getting  your $2.00 orders, be sure to
send   you   product   to   each   one
immediately.
  Even   if   you   try  this  out  of
curiosity, be prepared!  You are going
to  sell  so many recipes, craft plans
etc...   that  you  will  be staggered
with the results.  People will respond
because   you   are   giving  them  an
incentative to make profit!
  Consider  yourself fortunate to have
discovered  an  exclusive  system that
really   works!    Have  faith,  think
positively  and act today!  Fortune is
on its way to you.  GOOD LUCK AND HAVE
FUN!
1.  After losing a lot of  money trying  to sell my  recipes in  tabloids, I
decided to give this plan a try.  Boy was I surprised when I got a note from
my  mailman  telling  me  that  my  box was  too  small  for  all your mail!
For the first time in my life I'm out of debt. It feels too good to be true!
                                                    John D, Sarasota, Florida
2.   We  just  have  to extend our own
personal   comments   concerning   the
letter you have read.  In September of
this last year, we placed an ad in the
National Enquires.  The cost was $243.
We  received  only one order for $2.00
and  that's  the  God's truth.  At the
same  time,  we  received the attached
letter  as  a  result  of  the  ad  we
placed.   My  husband and I decided to
invest just a small amount of money to
see what would happen.  We spent $2.00
for  100 envelopes, $25.00 for stamps,
and a few dollars to copy 100 letters.
The  result was absolutely incredible.
Mail  has  been  pouring  in everyday.
Our  small imnverstment has given us a
thousand fold return.  Don't pass this
one  up.  It really works!!  We are so
excited,  we  can't  wait to check the
mailbox    everyday.     Good   Luck!!
Sincerest Regards.
                         Julie and Bob
                          -=> THE MUSIC REVIEWS <=-
Hello, this is 4-MAT with the second edition of the Stolen Data MusicReviews
page.   Well,  I have had a bumper bag of entries this month, so thankyou to
all  who sent me modules to review.  I have had to condense the reviews to a
small amount for each musician, but more reviews is better than less I say!
The  marking  system  has  changed once more, and now is on a scale of 0 - 5
stars,  I think this is a lot fairer than the more revealing 10 star ratings
that I was doing last month.
Okay then, that is all on the introductory side, here come the reviews.....
CELEBRATION - OMEGA/DUAL CREW (SWEDEN)
--------------------------------------
Well  then,  this  tune is quite nice indeed, a strong beat, some nice piano
chords  and  a  sweet  melody, what more could I ask for?  The tune has been
rendered  in quite an original style too, none of this 'Seven Sins'-ripoffs,
a strange cross between latin and Italian house.  Well done Omega!
                                                               RATING : ****
                         ------------------------------
                         ------------------------------
 UP IN THE WOODS - STEEL/SUBWAY
 ------------------------------
A very eurosounding release this, even down to the Uncle Tom chord stopping!
Even  so,  it is fresh, exciting and listenable, with a nice saxophone sound
bashing out the melody and some beautiful chord sounds.  Great Stuff!
                                                               RATING : ****
 MALBORO - RECOIL/IMAGINE
 ------------------------
A very simple guitar piece, using some very old guitar sounds from Led Storm
and other sounds taken from old SoundTracker sample disks.  The real problem
is  that  the  melody and bassline hold no interest at all, and I soon found
myself  flicking  through  the  patterns.   Sorry mate, but even the strange
bridge couldn't keep me interested!
                                                               RATING : **
 YOU ARE NOT A GOD - ECHO/IMAGINE
 --------------------------------
Another  guitar  piece,  but  this time the author has taken time to come up
with  a 'well-known' but nice guitar riff.  The melody is very beautiful and
the overdubbed choir chords are fine.  I like it!
                                                               RATING : ***
                         ------------------------------
 ISLAND STYLE - AEROKID/ENSIGNIA
 -------------------------------
A  nice  Eurosound  mixed  with sound Fx from Predator, a funky bassline and
some  quite  groovy keyboard riffs.  Even the discordant fade-in note at the
beginning  of  this track sounds atmospheric.  A nice tune, maybe a few more
varied  sounds  and  I  would  give  it  a  4-star  rating, but anyway, very
listenable.
                                                               RATING : ***
 ELECTROQUEST - NUKE
 -------------------
A  new tune by Nuke, using the familiar Eurosound style that seems to be all
the  rage  at  the  moment  (thankfully Walkman changed all that!).  A great
bassline  with  a  cracking  chord  sequence  melts into the great saxophone
overdub.   I  may  be  biased, but I think he is one of the best new musical
talents  to  come  out of the U.K, great stuff, and you can expect his music
disk very soon.
                                                               RATING : ****
 HARMONY - OISTEIN EIDE
 ----------------------
In  the  Amiga  scene, there are two types of Amiga musician :  professional
and  amateur.   Oistein  Eide is a professional and it shows.  For the first
time since looking at an Uncle Tom track, I have seen the real hardwork that
has  gone  into  writing  this  superb track.  While most NoiseTracker tunes
sound  like  NoiseTracker tunes, this doesn't!!!  A subtle bassline and drum
pattern flows into a superb atmospheric whirlpool of pure sound.  Incredible
stuff, a shame he did not want the tune spread!!
                                                              RATING : *****
 CAPTURE - FIRECODE/AMAZE
 ------------------------
A creepy beginning with appropriate wind noises and church organs flows into
a  relaxed  soulful  track combining trumpets and a piano chord sequence.  A
nice  tune,  although  it  doesn't  really  do  that  much,  but ambience is
wonderful.  (Just listen to Tangerine Dream and you will see why!!)
                                                              RATING : ***
Okay  that  is all the reviews for this month, keep them tunes being sent in
                      and I will continue reviewing them!!
        AUSTRALIAN SCENE REPORT
       *************************
     When many overseas dudes think of
Australia they think of lamers..  This
is mostly true since there are only  a
hand-full of cool crews in this  large
country.
FUSION(formerly ACU):
    They are mostly into importing but
also train games and  code  demos  and
utilities.  They have  many  U.S.  and
European  HQ's.   They  also  have  an
Aussie HQ called  DOWN  UNDER  GROUND.
Give it a call +613-427-7727 and leave
a message to ICE/PUNISHERS.  They also
have a diskmag  called  THE  SCENE  in
co-operation with DECAY.
SCOOPEX:  Australian  division.   Very
cool modem importers.
INFINITY:
     A new crew made from  ex-ACU  and
DECAY members. They  are  mostly  into
coding and swapping demos and  have  a
diskmag  called   FRAUD.    They   are
organizing  a  BIG   copy   party   in
co-operation with MYSTIX.
        AUSTRALIAN SCENE REPORT
       *************************
DECAY:
     A crew made from ex Amiga Industry
and Freedom Force, The Force, Predators
and Abel members.  They are mostly into
coding and swapping demos  and  have  a
diskmag in co-operation with FUSION.
ZAPHOD:
     A cool coder.  Has 2 megademos  to
his name.  One of Aussie's best coders.
MYSTIX:
     Now a very quiet crew.  Once  were
very  big.   Poor  coders.    They  are
organising a cool copyparty in December
this year called 'OZ SUMMER CONFERENCE'
I'll be there and so will many others.
(including LAMERS unfortunately !!!!!!)
Contact MYSTIX for an invite.
THE FORCE:
     Mainly swappers.  Also code a bit.
Haven't seen much from them in a while.
HELLRAISERS:
     Good coders. They also swap a bit.
THE PUNISHERS:
     A new crew (less than a year).  We
code demos and train games. We are
mainly mail importers and will soon  be
importing at HST.  We will also soon be
opening an Aussie HQ look out  for  the
number in our next demo.  We  are  also
looking for an elite WHQ  in  the  U.S.
You will soon here alot more from us!
     There are of  course  many  lamers
who rip and  pretend  to  import  stuff
(eg.JESTERS, ABILITY).  I think we have
more lamers than any other country with
elite  crews.    The  Aussie  scene  is
getting much better. In the near future
Aussie crews will be up there with  the
very elite.
      ------>            Mystix and Infinity present             <------
    ------>                 OZ SUMMER CONFERENCE                   <------
      ------>   8-9th December - Brisbane Queensland Australia   <------
 Mystix and Infinity invite  you to participate in possibly the biggest  event
 yet organised in the OZ  Amiga scene.  The  venue is ideally located adjacent
 to   public   transport,   shops,  pub  and   will  hold  over   500  people!
 There  will be a demo  competition with large  cash  prizes (Amount will vary
 by the number of participants - watch  or announcements).
 As in previous events  the  success of this  event depends somewhat on people
 travelling to attend it.  Australia is   a big place  (Sure! Says  Teeze!) as
 we all know. However  with the  airline deregulation  and  general price  war
 within air and bus companies there is little reason for people  to stay home.
 The cost is $10 advance  booking or by  argument, or $12 at the  venue.  This
 charge  is  to pay  for the  hire  of venue, funding  for  cash  prizes, door
 prizes, hire  of  video  screen  and  other  equipment  and   for  insurance.
 We  think the  charge is  justified when  all costs are  considered  and when
 compared  to  other  similar  events.  This  is  strictly   nonprofit  event.
 If you have decided  to attend  then you can  write to  us at the   addresses
 below. If you purchase  your ticket in  advance you will  be in a  draw for a
 questionaire in which you can give us your sugestions for event.  Advance the
 opportunity to order T-Shirts etc.
                      Write to:  Mystix  - Po Box 867 - Beenleigh QLD 4207.
                                 Infinity - Po Box 696 - Kenmore QLD 4069/.
 Mystix and Infinity reserve the right to change any  part  of  the  above  if
 or when deemed to do so by the same.                 ->Typed by Teeze/Anarchy
